No one on the wait list replied, so I posted in the wanted - players thread. If folks want to recommend good players you've played with in other games that are interested in joining this one, feel free!

Hello, hello! It's a pleasure to have me. I am the strikingly handsome and charismatic 'New Bard'.

I'm still a bit unsure of what character I'm going to play.

Re: OOC

I've posted some magic items to the Loot thread that departing PCs have left behind - the party can use these as you see fit.

Re: OOC

As folks are joining a quick note - two of our new players coincidentally chose similar names (Gorm and Grombrindal). For that matter, Gorm is an anagram of Morg too ;)

For nicknames, could we go with Gorm and Brin, just to avoid confusion?

Re: OOC

Aloha new adventurers.
In the spirit of Vex and Vax in Vox, should our new party name be "GMOR"? ;)

Re: magical items:

Driftglobe: does Gorm or the warlock have darkvision?

Spell scroll, "Skywrite": since Gorm is a druid, she can definitely cast it. Is Jo a druid, bard, wizard, or artificer?

Reszur (+1 dagger): Is Jo a melee rogue or spellcaster? If a spellcaster, should Morg keep Dweeble's dagger in case something with resistance to non-magical damage shows up? (Morg's a battlemaster fighter not capable of magical damage.)

Wand of magic missiles: maybe for the warlock (if ranged) since warlocks have so few slots? We should totally call the wand "Jules Winnfield". ;)

Re: OOC

I'm fine with 'Brin'-although I have suggested a name change to help make it easier for all.

Brin is done and ready to adventure.  Front line Hill Dwarf Cleric of the Forge.  He will be your meat shield -Heavy Armor, Shield and a warhammer.  Most of my spells are Buff and healing at this point.

Cheers!

Re: OOC

All systems are go here as well!

Jo will provide a pretty face and plenty of utility spells. Not much damage though, I hope someone else takes care of that.

Re: OOC

As will no doubt become apparent Gorm is very versatile and will likely focus on filling any gaps rather than one particular role.

As for the magic items none are of use to her.

Re: OOC

Oh, right, I failed to address the magic items.

Jo would very much like to stay at range so no, the dagger is not useful to him.

Re: OOC

I don't need any of them either.

Side note as a Cleric of the Forge I can imbue 1 weapon or Armor as +1 at a time.  Unless anyone wants/needs it my default is to add +1 to my armor to help with my 'tanking'

Re: OOC

In general +1 armor is the best plan, using it on someone with an already higher AC will get more work done, and if you like getting hit in the face be my guest, but you might want a few more HP.

Re: OOC

Apologies all, real life (and traffic) intervenes! If you're waiting on me for something please be patient and/or remind me what you're waiting on me for!

My plan is for the group to wake up, say goodbye to those PCs who are departing, and hello to those arriving, not necessarily in that order. I'll hopefully have a post up that sets the stage (in a Day 10 thread) in the next couple days.

Re: OOC

I see Rowan posted in the main Day 9 thread which is totally fine - PCs can feel free to do that, or if you prefer wait until after the (presumably imminent) long rest & join on the new Day 10 thread that I will create.

Feel free to meet up, discuss, pick a comfy spot to rest, say goodbye to departing comrades, etc. until I can get a 1st Day 10 post together!

Update: ok, I put together a first Day 10 post. @Rowan, would it make sense to move your post to Day 10 (i.e., the next morning after the other PCs depart), or do you prefer to join the group the night before?

Yeah, @Rowan the party's pretty low on resources at the end of day 9 (Morg has 1 HP and 0 class resources). We'll be better able to handle chasing mercenaries at the start of day 10 - also, level 5!

Is there somewhere I should look for guidelines on things like starting gear past 1st level, mundane or magical?

This adventure, PotA, may have specific rules for that - probably having magical loot rather than rolling. The DMG on page 38 says it's at the DM's discretion, but has a guide at the bottom of the page based on tiers.

(For the games I DM I make it more granular - based on levels rather than tiers, and I use https://www.enworld.org/thread...395770/#post-6468347 for magic items, tho players can only keep a single consumable rolled, and I pick from the non-consumable tables (like table F) to make sure the items are balanced.)

That's fine. I wasn't really sure what I was doing aside from getting chased by the counts men, so I just posted in the most logical location XD

In reply to Gorm Hareth (msg # 916):

That's a good point actually, I didn't think of that. I just went with the starting gear without thinking 0.0 I'd appreciate at least being able to stealthily stick a few spell components into my bag :3
