Anyone any ideas on how to incorporate Jo and Gorm into the party?

Perhaps they know something about the land around the keep or river-makes sense with Gorm the Druid and Jo is tagging along with Gorm

Are you all headed to Rivergard Keep next, or somewhere else, or doing something first?

I'm assuming Makari is speaking for the group here - absent confirmation or other info I'll move the group along towards Rivergard Keep in the next couple of RT days.

If folks want to keep discussing the infiltration plan (in or out-of-character) feel free. Let me know when you're ready to go and I can post what happens next (or I'll assume you're all done if there isn't a post for a day or two).

Re: OOC

So. Are we all thinking night time is better? It sounds like it, but want to make sure.
If that's the case, are there any who CANNOT see in the dark?

Since we don't have enough invisibility to go around, do we need to split in to teams, one to sneak in and let the other group in or anything? Or is it 'ride together, die together' and hope no one flubs a Stealth roll? Lol!

Jo has high dex, and that's it really. He does have darkvision, though.

Re: OOC

Is there enough cover outside the keep, for recon by the non-stealthy?
09:25, Today: Morg Danforge rolled 24 using 1d20+4 with rolls of 20.  Perception check to see if there's enough cover to hide while figuring out keep's paterns. Investi-4.

Re: OOC

Night would definitely be better for me. There are a myriad of ways I could use the disguise self spell to give myself different camouflage options depending on how the dm wants to interpret the benefits of such.

There are no trees or anything around, but there are dips and small hills. The banks of the river are quite steep also, and the keep is built around that steep bank.

These pictures may help.

The area around Rivergard Keep is like much of the rest of the Sumber Hills - windswept badlands sparsely covered in dry grass. Many of the hills have exposed rock faces or steep escarpments. While the hills are dry, countless tiny streams rise from hidden springs, then flow down to join the Dessarin River which bisects the hills.

Re: OOC

Alright guys - are the three dwarves going to shoot down Makari's idea? Just need to know what we are doing, aside from watching the place until nighttime and....SOME of us trying to sneak in? ALL of us trying to sneak in (dwarves in armor or not)?

You could roll Perception to see if you see anything of note.

Re: OOC

I tend to just use passive perception, all that guessing of when to roll isn't really worth the time.

[Private to GM: Also the thread says it is getting near the 1000 post limit and should be getting a new one soon.]

Honestly me too, but in my games you can explicitly look for things and roll perception, and if you're looking for something in particular you get a lower CR to actually see it.

For instance, you might need a 15 perception (passive or otherwise) to notice a giant spider on the ceiling if you're just looking in the room generally, but if you specifically say "PC looks at the ceiling for something" then you might only need a 5 or automatically succeed.

I generally roll for something in any case - either a stealth roll vs. passive perception or a perception check vs. a CR. I don't like that PCs with high passive perception just automatically notice everything.

And yes, it's on my list to create another OOC thread - soon ;)
