Re: OOC

DM:

Zora (and anyone else, really), feel free to roll persuasion, deception, insight, etc. as you see fit as you interact with the monks. Or initiative, of course =).

I could roll persuasion, deception, etc but ... it would suck! I really hope someone with a positive charisma modifier swoops in to do the talking from here on in!

Sorry for lack of posts lately; holidays and haven't been able to think of much to add. Hope everyone's has been going well so far! I got Xanathar's and Tomb of Annihilation, so I'd say I'm pretty set :D

Nice!

If anyone wants to post conversation with the monks feel free; otherwise, they may assume no one’s answering the question. I’ll give you another few days IRL of course :)

Lol yeah Jack was trying to imply that they would rather speak with the person in charge instead of just the door-monks, without being rude. =P

So, I hope this doesn't get us killed. If it does, sorry, everyone.

This is exactly why I left the nobility behind me. I don't have the patience.

No apologies needed. Bards don't write songs about circumspect negotiators, they sing the praises of heroes who jump in and take on impossible odds. So, we just need to make sure at least Jak survives ;).

To be honest, as messy as it is I have to say I'm not surprised. We've kind of put ourselves between a rock and a hard place with these two factions. :P

Cool that Asano got frustrated with Qarbo - the stone folks are supposed to be stubborn (as a rock, I suppose), so I apparently played him appropriately! =)

Re: OOC

Out of curiosity, since I forget, do familiars get their own turns or will the sprite simply be acting on Mayon's turn for simplicity's sake? I have ideas for this little thing...

Ah right, I forgot about your familiar - feel free to roll its initiative!

Here's excerpts from the spell that should hopefully clarify how they work:

Your familiar acts independently of you, but it always obeys your commands. In Combat, it rolls its own initiative and acts on its own turn. A familiar can't Attack, but it can take other actions as normal.

While your familiar is within 100 feet of you, you can communicate with it telepathically. Additionally, as an action, you can see through your familiar's eyes and hear what it hears until the start of your next turn, gaining the benefits of any Special senses that the familiar has. During this time, you are deaf and blind with regard to your own senses.

As an action, you can temporarily dismiss your familiar. It disappears into a pocket dimension where it awaits your summons. Alternatively, you can dismiss it forever. As an action while it is temporarily dismissed, you can cause it to reappear in any unoccupied space within 30 feet of you.

Finally, when you Cast a Spell with a range of touch, your familiar can deliver the spell as if it had cast the spell. Your familiar must be within 100 feet of you, and it must use its reaction to deliver the spell when you cast it. If the spell requires an Attack roll, you use your Attack modifier for the roll.

The Pact of the Chain gives you some additional options:

When you cast the spell, you can choose one of the normal forms for your familiar or one of the following Special forms: imp, Pseudodragon, Quasit, or Sprite.

Additionally, when you take the Attack action, you can forgo one of your own attacks to allow your familiar to make one Attack of its own with its reaction. (in this case it also gets to take its normal Action & movement on its own turn in Initiative).

Re: OOC

Alright, thank you! I've added their initiative to the post then. I'm posting their action alongside Mayon's for now, but may change it if things change too drastically; i.e. their initiative is lower than some may post separately or just go back and edit if there's a case where their initiatives are too vastly different.

Re: OOC

Trying to figure out what I have on hand. I surrendered my warhammer, but also have a belaying pin (that can be used as a club) according to my background and character sheet, and of course a shield. Would I have access to either or both of these for the fight with Qarbo (if it comes to that)?

5', but to get around a built up corner you have to go around, unlike a clear diagonal which is just 5'.

Yeah you would have everything but the warhammer and the glove you left with the feathergale group. So either your dagger or club are options, for instance.

And Morg is correct on the other question.
