Re: Day 7 - Return to Sacred Stone Monastery...?

Asano notes the grim engagement in the hall, aiming his wand at another of the fiery pools belching the choking, black smoke. An icy blast freezes the remaining accelerant on the floor. "Any chance your little friend could start throwing open doors in search of Savra or Huet?" he asks, ducking under the smoke.

Re: Day 7 - Return to Sacred Stone Monastery...?

The smoke in the room is thick, obscuring Mayon's vision just enough to send his blast of magic off target. Asano extinguishes the remaining fire, making the room even smokier.

Spinning in near unison, Jak and Morg both strike their targets, who collapse to the stone floor, sliding slightly down the spiral staircase before resting face down, still.

"Troublesome party guests," Thurl growls, "always overstaying their welcome." With a vicious slash of his greatsword, he cuts down Morg with a single blow, shattering his makeshift wooden shield and felling him to the stone next to Tessa. Stepping over him, he slashes at Jak and cuts him on the leg.

Map updated!

Everyone is up now. Morg needs to make a death save if still unconscious on his turn, and has lost his makeshift shield =).

Round 5 Summary:
Thurl attacks Morg twice - MISS.

Mayon attacks K3 with Agonizing Blast - MISS.

Asano puts out the remaining fire with Ray of Frost.

Jak attacks K2 - HIT for 8 piercing. K2 is dead.

Morg attacks K3 with Menacing Attack - HIT for 18 bludgeoning. K3 is dead.

Feathergale Knight K4 directs his mount to try breaking through the shutters - FAIL.

Zora is too far away to attack Thurl, but would have missed with a 13 anyway =)

Re: Day 7 - Return to Sacred Stone Monastery...?

Jak was excited when the tide seemed to be turning, and both knights went down, one right after the other. However, things turned south just as quickly. He looked very surprised when Morg was knocked down by the Thurl and did not get up again.

He grit his teeth and swung out with his shortsword but didn't hit. But then the grimace turned in to a grin as he spoke a single word infused with arcane power, "Live." And healing energy, just a bit, flowed down in to Morg.

Lacking her magic, Zora started to move to stabilize Morg, but saw Jak get to it first. Breathing a sigh of relief that the bard at least had magic left, she instead moved to engage the man who did it, Thurl himself. "Stay away from my friend! You want a fight, fight with me!" she cried into the leader's face, hoping to make herself a target and take some heat off Morg.

Move to U69 if not blocked by stairs or something.

Morg coughed up blood as he came back to consciousness.

He wasn't sure if it was Zora or Jak who brought him back, but wanted to make sure the prayer or wizardry wasn't wasted on him instead of Tessa; so he grabbed his hammer, stood up, and swung with all his might at Thurl.

He was surprised that he didn't feel off balance at all without a shield, but wasn't yet ready to wield his hammer two handed without practicing it again.
Move: get up from prone.

Action: attack Thurl with warhammer - hits AC 21 for 10 bludgeoning.

Re: Day 7 - Return to Sacred Stone Monastery...?

Seeing the fires extinguished, Asano smiles and steps toward the hall. His focusing wand rises once more, the crystal already well encased in ice from its extended use as a fire extinguisher, and a frozen ray lashes at the leader of the Feathergale Spire. As the ray reaches for the knight, seven bubbles emerge from the ray itself. The bubbles spin through the air, the blured images resolving into razored snowflakes as a quirk of the Weave touches the half-elf's spell.

Re: Day 7 - Return to Sacred Stone Monastery...?

Asano's icy blast grazes Thurl's shoulder, but a swarm of magic bolts from the wild magic sorcerer slams into the Feathergale leader, staggering him back from over Morg's prone form.

Morg rises slowly after Jak's healing spell rouses him, and he manages a solid blow against Thurl despite almost losing his balance. Jak and Zora both swing for the man's head, but he ducks Jak's thrust and parries Zora's.

Bleeding from several wounds from the magic missiles, and bruised by the repeated assaults, Thurl casts a quick spell and disappears in a swirl of ephemeral smoke.

Abruptly he reappears next to Asano inside the still smoky room. He then quickly moves to unlatch and open the shutters to the window. The knight outside pulls back from the blow he was about to level against the window, and steadies his tiring mount.

Grimacing in pain, Thurl brings his greatsword down on Asano in two swift strokes, dropping him to the floor of the room. "If we can't smoke them out, we'll do it the old fashioned way," his voice booms. "Who's next?"

Map updated!

Startled by Thurl's sudden appearance, Mayon drops focus on the hex from earlier and aims a hand at him instead. He focuses on his patron and forms the illusion in Thurl's mind: The the masked woman from the monastery that had chased them out, forming out of the stone floor and stepping forward to face him.

Action: Mayon casts Phantasmal Force on Thurl. DC 13 Intelligence save or believe the illusion and take 1d6 psychic damage per turn from it or take an action to investigate and disprove the illusion.
He will then move to S68.

Re: Day 7 - Return to Sacred Stone Monastery...?

An intense look in his eyes, Thurl fastens his gaze on Mayon, his closest assailant. As he starts to move toward the warlock, Mayon waves his hands briefly. Thurl's gaze wanders to the center of the room, where to his eyes the monk leader Hellenrae rises impossibly from the floor, pointing a cold finger at him.

Her mask's eyeless gaze holds him transfixed. "You are unworthy to serve even your own pathetic masters," she says, for his ears alone. "You are worth more as a cold corpse in the ground." Her metal mask suddenly seems to melt, bending around its mouth, into a crude caricature of a smile. "Not long now."

The Feathergale leader clutches at his head as the vision of Hellenrae assaults his senses, and Jak's words wash over him. Just as he looks up, Zora rushes into the room and stabs him, ripping through his breastplate. The magical dagger protruding from his chest flashes once with its cold, dim light, and he collapses in a heap on the floor.

The last thing he sees is the figure of Hellenrae, removing her mask, laughing at him silently.

"Dude!" the griffon-riding knight exclaims from outside the open window. He flings a ball of cold magic at Jak, who is hit with a glancing blow. The knight looks stricken, and afraid. He grasps the reins of his mount tightly, and glances upward, seemingly prepared to fly away.

Map updated!

Everyone is up now, though technically Zora acts after the knight.

Round 7 Summary:
Thurl casts Misty Step (bonus action) and teleports to T65. He moves to S64 and opens the shutters to the window. He attacks Asano twice - HIT twice for a total of 21 slashing. Asano is unconscious.

Mayon casts P. Force on Thurl - FAIL. Thurl takes 4 psychic.

Asano makes his death save - the deception check & wild magic reverse aging doesn't take place, since Jak heals him lower in the initiative order.

Jak casts Vicious Mockery at Thurl - FAIL. Thurl takes 3 psychic and has disadvantage on his next attack. He casts Healing Word on Asano for 6 healing. Asano is conscious and prone.

Morg attacks Thurl with a javelin - MISS.

Feathergale Knight K4 attacks Jak with Ray of Frost - HIT for 2 cold damage . Jak's speed is reduced by 10' until the start of K4's next turn.

As Thurl falls, beaten and bloody, Asano climbs back to his feet. He claps a hand to those shoulders near him in thanks for their timely efforts in defeating their foes, then turns to the window. "The Feathergale Knights admire strength? Well, before you stands the greatest strength: that of brothers and sisters in arms," he shouts to the wavering knight outside, gesturing to his companions. "Looking out only for yourself may lead to temporary might, but if you truly want to make a difference in this world and show true power, you must have people you can trust and who trust you. This," he gestures to the dead and dying Thurl,"</Blue>is not strength. This is posturing. Now is your chance to truly show the strength of the Feathergale Knights, instead of the posturing blowhards you have been. Will you choose strength, knight?"</Blue> As he speaks, a small spark of magic seems to twist his words musically and a long beard of feathers grows from his face. Asano sighs in annoyance, his nose wrinkling as the feathers begin tickling him.

Mayon nods at that. "I'll see what I can find. Shake my arm or something if anything happens here." He sits back against the wall, focusing back on his familiar's eyes and continuing his earlier foiled search.

Assuming the familiar is still in the spot it was left at, going to start peeking through doors to find Savra and Huet. If people are around it will try to stay stealthy, but if not then it's just trying to go as quickly as possible.
