Re: Day 7 - Return to Sacred Stone Monastery...?

Morg struggles a bit with the height of the lock and door handle, and lets the robed and masked longshanks go in ahead of him.
Try to quietly open the door, and if locked try using the keys.

Re: Day 7 - Return to Sacred Stone Monastery...?

The door opens easily.

Hot coals smolder in two big brick hearths in the middle of the room, and the smell of baking bread fills the air. Sacks of flour, casks of salted fish, crates of dried vegetables, and wheels of cheese clutter the walls, along with well-worn work tables and a collection of mismatched cutlery.

A doorway to the west stands open, leading to a washroom where three large wooden tubs stand. Another door leads south.

Four Sacred Stone monks are visible; two chopping potatoes on small tables around the walls of the room, another working at the stove in the center of the room baking bread, and a fourth working at the laundry tubs in the room beyond. As the door opens, the chopping monks stop working and look up at the new arrivals. One cocks his head slightly at the robed figures entering the kitchen, but he does not speak.

Asano pushes through the group, entering the kitchen. He bows briefly to the monks inside, making the rough triangle symbol displayed the previous night. He looks back, nodding to the others to follow him.

Zora got the idea. She moved through the kitchen and took up position at the South door, ready to block anyone coming through. She drew her weapon and pulled back her hood.

At Zora's pronouncement the monks in the room immediately drop what they were doing and stand ready for attack. The bread maker mutters, "That's no duergar after all," as he gathers himself.

One starts to move towards Asano, then hesitates. "There is no peace. There is only inexorable death bathing in earth's embrace." He raises his hands. "Doubt you the strength of elemental earth? Test us."

Morg and Asano are up first. None of the monks look like they are eager to move in your direction, after Asano's impressive intimidation =).

She shrugged. They'd tried, it seemed better than just murdering them with no warning. She adopted a defensive stance near the door, ready to stop anyone trying to get through it, and cast a weak spell at the monk in front of her

Going to regret this but going to try to conserve some magic fighting these four mooks, after running out of heals last time...

Asano's bright missiles slam into the bread-making monk, staggering him backwards. Morg swings his hammer at the nearest monk, yet he nimbly dodges out of the way, then strikes back with an uppercut to Morg's side.

The monk doing laundry runs in from the other room and sets upon Zora, kicking her squarely in the shins.

The other two monks wait patiently, alert and ready for attack.

Mid round update! Map updated.

Zora, Mayon, and Rona are up now, though Zora and Rona have already posted (which is totally fine). If Zora and/or Rona want to change their posts that's fine; regardless, I'll post the full round summary tomorrow or after Mayon's post whichever is earlier).

M1 readies an action.
M2 attacks Morg twice with unarmed attacks - HIT once for 4 bludgeoning .
M3 readies an action.
M4 runs in the room and attacks Zora twice with unarmed attacks - HIT once for 5 bludgeoning .

Seemingly prepared for a physical assault, Mayon's blast of magical force hits the monk directly in the chest. Zora's searing blast from above finds its target in turn.

Rona advances and scores a hit on the monk entering from the laundry, yet the cultist behind him scores a solid blow to the half-orc's back.

Trying to scare the monk into submission, Morg makes a showy rising swing of his hammer in trying to hit it, saying "Surrender!"
Action: attack M2 with warhammer - hits AC 15 for 13 bludgeoning damage.

12:49, Today: Morg Danforge rolled 15 using 1d20+6 with rolls of 9.  M2 attacked with warhammer.
12:49, Today: Morg Danforge rolled 11 using 1d8+6 with rolls of 5.  M2's bludgeoning damage from warhammer.
12:52, Today: Morg Danforge rolled 2 using 1d8 with rolls of 2.  If attack on M2 hit, then +Menacing attack on M2 who must make a WIS save (DC 14) or be frightened.

Edit: telling monk to surrender. If Morg hit and M2 failed its save, then the monk is frightened of him until the end of his next turn: it has disadvantage on Ability Checks and Attack rolls while the dwarf's within line of sight, and it can't willingly move closer to him.

True to the monk's words, the cultists stand their ground and counterattack ably.

The monk dodges Morg's aggressive attack, then lands a combination wheelhouse kick and punch to the dwarf.

Asano's blast of cold strikes a glancing blow to another monk. Shaking off the cold, he leaps forward and lands two blows to Mayon across the table. The other two monks land solid blows against Zora and Rona.

This was taking longer than she hoped. These cooks knew how to fight.

Relaxing her plan to conserve resources, she reacted to being hit by channeling her divine power intro a retaliation. Then she followed up with a swing of her weapon hoping to finish him off.

wow these are some scary cooks!

channel divinity on her attacker for 2d8 damage, 1d8 on successful dex save. using tempest ability to max these rolls to 8

Much as I hate in combat healing, mayon looks like he's hurting! Healing word on him for 6

Melee attack only hits ac 10 so think it miss.

, Today: Secret Roll: Zora Jilkina rolled 5 using 1d8+3 with rolls of 2.  Damage not that it mattered.

12:50, Today: Secret Roll: Zora Jilkina rolled 10 using 1d20+05 with rolls of 5.  Attack m4 or m1 if m4 is out of fight.

12:49, Today: Secret Roll: Zora Jilkina rolled 6 using 1d4+03 with rolls of 3.  Healing word on mayon.

Mayon gasps in pain at the fierce strikes, feeling the Hex slip from his grasp. Gritting his teeth in annoyance, he fires a point blank blast at the monk, hoping to finish him off even at the close range. He casts Zora a grateful smile as her healing magic soothes the worst of the pain.

12:07, Today: Secret Roll: Mayon Graycross rolled 10,2 using d20+1,d20+1 with rolls of 9,1.  Two concentration saves.
12:08, Today: Mayon Graycross rolled 15,21,8 using d20+5,d20+5,d10+3 with rolls of 10,16,5.  (Disadvantage) Agonizing Blast.

Thanks for the health Zora!
