The water itself is silent, but there is some sort of shadowy shape just below the surface moving away from the boat and dock.

Re: Day 10 - Leavetakings and Arrivals

Makari's nose wrinkled and he left the weapons and shields were they were really. They weren't his style, and if anyone else wanted to grab them they could. The bag was interesting. He would check for magic auras in a moment. The money and the gems...well, it was a bit distasteful to take from the dead, but they might need it later. And he supposed it was better to have and not need rather than not having.

He looked at the others. "Do we have time for me to cast a ritual to see if anything is magic? Or should we press on?"

"I would like a bit of a rest, and Gorm said she's going to carefully investigate underwater northwards." Morg said.

"I think she's the octopus we saw earlier, so she must be a druid because they can polymohph into all sorts of animals."

Re: Day 10 - Leavetakings and Arrivals

Makari gave a slow nod, frowning lightly in thought. "I suppose that would make sense. They seem to...prefer being in animal shapes more than anything else, thus far." He gave a small shrug of his shoulders. He wasn't one to judge.

He set out the things they had found, even including the weapons and such that he didn't want to take just in case. Then he pulled out a black and gold tome that he opened and set in his lap. He began to ritually cast a spell to see if any were magic, taking several minutes to do so.

OOC: Ritually casting Detect Magic.

Magdrak just stands, axe in his hand, shifting his weight back and forth as Makari casts his spell.  As each minute passes, he looks around at the surroundings, trying to keep an eye out for any potential enemies they may have missed.  He starts muttering to himself.  "Blasted rituals, always take so long..."

OOC:

21:03, Today: Secret Roll: Magdrak rolled 14 using 1d20 with rolls of 14.  Perception Roll.

Faint ripples in the water lead away from the quay as Makari engages in his ritual. After a little more than ten minutes, he stops the ritual, looking about himself and at the objects carried by himself and his companions.

Makari finished the ritual and gazed around slowly, looking over the object laid out before him and whatever else he might be able to see nearby. He spoke in a...distant voice, hollow almost, since the majority of his concentration and attention were on the spell he was holding.

"The bottle...is a potion, though I am unsure of what kind of potion." He concentrated on it, trying to ascertain the school of magic behind the effect the potion might have.

"The scrolls from before. Your dagger, Morg. The wand." He trailed off and then blinked. "Nothing else."

Just about the same time the ritual is complete the tell tail ripple in the water that indicates something large but soft just under the surface returns.

"Gorm says there's something big under a bridge to the west, which probably didn't notice her. The channel is not natural, and has statues in it. She says there are bridges to the north, and a recently lit torch."

"I'd prefer a bit more of a rest in this tunnel here going northeast. How about you all?"
Morg says.

The water from the nearby lake laps at the shore of the quay, and faint splashes echoing from the darkness outside the ring of light cast from the nearby torch. No other motion stirs the area.

Are y'all trying for a full hour's rest?

Makari gave the vial a slightly askance look and carefully wrapped it up, just to be safe. He then let the magic of the ritual slowly fade as he ceased concentration on it. He looked around and then relaxed in to a meditative pose.

OOC: Sure. Short rest sounds good to me.

Once the scouting run's assessment is clearly directed to rest the bear known as Gorm comes out of the water again, climbing up on the boat first, then up to the dock where she settles down to take a break, resting easily but not quite asleep.

Aside from the bear's emergence from the water, nothing stirs for the next hour.

Feel free to post all the short rest things you like, including examining one of the unidentified magic items in the loot thread.

Re: Day 10 - Leavetakings and Arrivals

The surroundings remain quiet as the group remains at the quay, resting.

The 2 scrolls are remove curse & skywrite.

The shark-toothed longsword will do an extra die of damage vs. targets not wearing armor

Value of all applicable items now updated in the Loot thread, along with identified items =)

Remove Curse scroll and Wolfsbane potion should be sufficient to cure the lycanthropy of our 2 stricken PCs if you so desire.

Where to next?

Makari looked over things with a bit of interest. "Hmm. I think..." He frowned slightly and then gave a slow nod. "Interesting. I think this could be a cure of lycanthropy. If we knew of an area where it was prevalent, we could make some good coin."

He began putting things away for the moment. He looked over at Morg and then gave a small shrug. "As good a direction as any. I would prefer to be not on the front lines unless we are trying to sneak."

OOC: I believe Makari came in after the werewolf stuff and I don't remember if he saw anyone 'wolf out' since he joined.

Magdrak grunted at Makari's words.  "I guess you were not here.  I would say that lycanthropy is prevalent in this area.  I got it from a wereboar, though the change has not set in on me yet.  And I think the bear got hit too, though it is not exactly talkative about such things.  Nasty curse.  Saw a friend of mine at the fire cultist base that had it.  Poor Wiglaf.

"As for who leads, I do not think it would matter if you put me a dozen paces back.  Not exactly light on my feet, and this armor rattles something awful.  So I suppose I can lead the way."

The group turns the corner and faces a hallway running north. The left wall features a door partway up the corridor, and a second door faces them at the extreme northern end. The hallway turns west at that point, beyond the group's line of sight.

Makari looked down the hallway discreetly. He took note of the turn of the hallway, but more importantly the two doors. He stepped back and spoke quietly. "The fight we had probably ruined any chance of surprise down here but..." He gave a nod towards the hallway. "I think we should check the doors in order as we go to make sure no one comes up behind us later."

He saw Morg trying to motion Gorm to take the lead, and he quickly tried to flatten himself against the wall if he saw the 'bear' moving forward.

Re: Day 10 - Leavetakings and Arrivals

Although quite a bit bigger than a human, and easily able to dominate even these wide hallways, the bear really isn't a very big version and can quite easily squeeze aside to let others pass.  Gorm doesn't seem any more inclined to lead the group than ever before, content to let those more skilled at doors and stone go ahead.
