Re: Day 10 - Leavetakings and Arrivals

Makari listened to the conversation going on around him about lycanthropy and the boar. He turned his head slightly to look directly at the bear. But then he addressed Tana, "Do were-creatures normally have telepathy? The bear spoke to me in my head, though only a very little and did not explain much. They said their name was Gorm."

Re: Day 10 - Leavetakings and Arrivals

Slapping Magdrak on the back; "A living experiment.  What say you?  I for one would keep you tied up on the next full moon till we know for sure." he finished with a deep laugh.

"To the basement then?  I think we have rested long enough.  Lets finish exploring this place and find wht other cluies we can muster."

Re: Day 10 - Leavetakings and Arrivals

The face at the balcony does not reappear, and the tied up guard sleeps fitfully.

I marked down that Tana took the potion of healing in the Loot thread, and removed the Reszur dagger from there as Morg currently has it - feel free to mark those down in your respective character sheets if you haven't already.

@Gorm, how many goodberries did you eat?

Anyone else want to do anything else/examine the other unidentified magic items before I queue up a post for you all descending the secret staircase?

Re: Day 10 - Leavetakings and Arrivals

Magdrak looks doubtfully at the potion.  "Not sure I like the idea of being an experiment for anything.  Besides, would be a waste of a potion if I do not actually require it.  Maybe I should hold on to it in case I need it.  But I agree that we should continue on."

Re: Day 10 - Leavetakings and Arrivals

When the others start to get up from their rest and discuss plans again the bear takes a few slow steps forward in Makari's direction, taps the lever on the side of the barrel under its neck again to drop a half dozen berries onto the ground before backing up and out of the way again.

"Ahh... we will just hope you're not infected then.  Excellent."

If anything, she sounded more pleased by that idea.

"Shall we continue our hunt?"

She did not appear to want to take the lead, though she did pause for a while to inspect the berries that the bear had left behind from its contraption.

"Huh, what do you reckon these are?"

Re: Day 10 - Leavetakings and Arrivals

Makari looked over at the bear slowly. "Um...thank you?" He looked at the berries and then at his allies. "The bear apparently wanted to share. They said the berries are for healing. Also that Wereboars are not telepathic."

He carefully scooped up the berries, waiting to see if anyone piped up about needing one. Otherwise he wrapped them and placed them in a pouch for safekeeping.

"Ah, goodberries - I knew a firbolg who could make these." Morg says, eating some. "He was a druid, and could turn into a bird!"

"Shall we check the 2 doors here before we go down?" he says, putting his ear against the southern door.
Eat up to 3 goodberries if available.

"Wereboars, of course!"

Tana croaked, slapping her hand to her forehead.

"A silly name, but it follows.  Yes, yes, the doors!

She added, not bothering to try and hide her eagerness.

Re: Day 10 - Leavetakings and Arrivals

Makari gave a shrug about which doors to go through. He, personally, wanted to go through the secret door first, but he acquiesced to the group's wishes. He followed along behind Morg, and stayed back from the door he was looking to enter first. He got ready to unleash some more eldritch blasts if there was something hostile.

Magdrak rises to his feet and grunts, eyeing the secret door.  "I am fine with searching the doors here first."

He grasps his warhammer in his fist, and prepares to follow along to the first door.

"Melee up front, but leaving line-of-sight for the wizards?" Morg says.

If there were sounds behind the northern door, Morg would've told the party, and waited for any plans in response; otherwise:

if the party agrees with the melee front-line idea, Morg will open the northern door, and rush in:

Movement: 25' from L6 towards any hostiles inside, leaving room for others to see and enter, unless stopped by traps.

Action: Ready non-lethal knock-out attack on closest hostile inside.

Re: Day 10 - Leavetakings and Arrivals

Morg bursts through the northern door, followed by the rest of the party.

Two large stone hearth on the north wall of this room hold kettles full of simmering stew. Washbasins and worktables with old, battered crockery stand in the middle of the room. Sacks, casks, and barrels are piled along the southern wall, and cheeses and smoked fish hang from the ceiling.

Five people with the look of common laborers about them huddle in the southwest corner of the room, staring in alarm at the sudden intrusion.

Looking at the laborers, Morg puts a fore finger to his lips.

He then moves to the southern door, and waits to see if the rest of the party agree to going thru that door.

Tana was beginning to weave a rune of power, but seeing that Morg was not charging the laborers, she ceased.  Looking almost embarrassed, she shuffled along, hustling to keep pace.

Makari hesitated as Morg and the others began to move towards the next door.

He spoke quietly to the laborers, putting his hands out in a peaceful manner to indicate calm, "please do not panic. we mean you no harm so long as you do not attack us." he gestured towards the door that Morg was heading towards. "are there any more bandits that way?"

Squeezing through the door with an alarming amount of familiarity the bear doesn't even make the door frame creak as it inhales with a twisting motion that passes first shoulders then hips though one side at a time before inhaling again inside the room with barely a huff of rushed air.  That same significant sniff is apparently all that is needed to take in the huddled forms, and ignore them to focus again on the next door, sniffing at the air that seeps past it.

The bear crashes through the southern door, eliciting screams from three young human teenagers hiding behind dirty laundry and linens piled atop several wicker baskets. The room appears to be a plain dormitory, and features six bunk beds and a small wooden table and chairs, as well as two large laundry tubs.

Stepping away from the bear, one of the laborers in the kitchen replies to Makari with a sour expression. "No more bandits that way," he mutters. Two of his companions look uncertainly towards the door to the main hall, while the other two glare at the intruders.

Morg rushes thru the southern door, but seeing the scared teenagers, relaxes and heads back towards the front room, "Not the temple, and these don't seem like cultists."

...

Back at the secret door, he says "If we go down, someone could put something on top of the entrance - do you have wizard magic that could get us out again?"
