Salphron's Doom

The Void retches Salphron from its depths.
An androgynous woman stands before Salphron amidst the Void. "I am driven to tolerate your existence in the realm I protect. Know this, Litch, you have great freedom and a fate, but go too far, and I will drive you away from here. Do we have an understanding?"

Salphron's Doom

(What an encouraging name)

Last thing Salphron remembered was the castle crumbling, he didn't use the strange contraption that used souls for power... in fact he had cannibalized the thing for parts. (though he had made sure he could re-pair it or make another if needed... though the thing was massive and resource exhaustive) While he had no problem with the idea of using souls, burning them up was not something that seamed wise.... forget about all the other reasons not to do something like, valid as they may be (he wouldn't want anyone burning his peoples souls) it's just a stupid thing to do as souls are not exactly as a renewable resource as other forms of power are, and are far more useful intact. So he had used the power of the masive crystal mana reserves and his own power and that of the rose to power the device that flew and reality shifted his island.

If the castle was crumbling as bady as it was it had taken a much grater toll on him and the rose than he thought, and the machines at the center of the island where failing in power.... He saw that they had cleared the void so the shield did not need to protect the inhabitents from it..... but even being drawn to lay lines odds where vastly in favor that they would still be in orbit of a planet (or worce a sun) rather than on one and if the shields where failing... or worce the shields and the air mana that supplied the atmosphere... they people in the village where in a lot of danger. That didn't even acount for the fact that many structures in the village where created by the rose and would be collapsing too.

He didn't let the presence of obviously powerful beings hold back his temper, a rather bad flaw. "I don't have time for this." and he started to leave before realizing there was no where to leave to.... "What have you done with my people!?!" It was bad enough they where in peril but now this bitch had pulled him away from them flaunt there powers and threaten him over politics?!?   (well he sees peoples views on necromancy as a political thing)

The woman wrinkles her brow, "Ah... You have people. I can do this much for you. Go through your island, strengthen the structure, rebuild. I'm topping up enough power in you and your devices to do what you need to do in order to stabilize your island and preserve the lives of those under your care. You are being placed in orbit around Alfheim."

Salphron's Doom

"Oh..." He sighed. He did his best to pull his composure, and his form together to repair any injuries from the calpasing castle and the drain of power, to try and appear mostly human. Sure she knew he was a lich but found beings that found some things distasteful still apreshated the there senses being told otherwise. "I apologize, but I have not been dealing with the most hospitable of beings lately, or I would not have resorted to such a risky gambit as using our home as a transdimentinal projectile to escape...."

Salphron's Doom

No he would would let the castle crumble to dust, the village is far away enough from the mountain where the castle is that even if it's crumbling caused an rock slide they would be safe. He would take his full dragon form to try and brute force his way through the shattering castle and fly out of it, while he had the rose focus all of it's remaining strength on the suporting structure of the buildings it made up that still had people in them while warning them to escape. In the meantime he would make his way to the village bellow.

The village did have some living-dead that use to be residences of the village that could derrect the undead to protect the villagers as well, in addition to put themselves in harms away over the living. Those things should cut down on any casualties from the destroyed Rose buildings. They where mostly things like temples, theaters, and other buildings that tend to be built big and flamboyant that it just makes sense to build magicaly in crystal formations if you have that option. Unfortantly such big buildings coming down is the prolbem... even if soon they would be nothing but dust.

The only real habitation, industry, trade, ect buildings that where important to the city's day to day functions where only built out of such temporarily if they where damaged... or as needed until they finished a new building.

Considering they had mindless undead tending to mining and forestry they had extra labor for building. =p

So he focused on making sure everyone was ok, healing the injured, raising any dead that had wished to be raised on there death, re-raising any fallen living-dead.... and checking on damage to crops and important buildings that the town needs to sustain itselfs..... aswell as supplies of water and food.   With out water and air mana they where limited till they found a habitable place to land.

The world they had came from ran on something similar to balar, only if it had a consciousness it didn't show itself to anyone ... and there was 13 elements rather than 5.  The island was powered by an air crystal nearly the size of the city that moved it, powered it's shields, and supplied air, several water crystals that created water for it's rivers, and some earth crystals that helped the crops grow.

But they had all been used up and now they would have to ration everything.

Salphron's Doom

The androgynous woman disappears slowly, making I'm-keeping-my-eyes-on-you hand motions as she goes.

Since the island (what is its name?) is in orbit around Alfheim, the Alfheim planetary defender cooperative sends a small patrol unit up with a Portal. The unit consists of 5 sheriffs and 20 deputies. They are armed, but come in peace. The undead unnerve them, but they hold their cool. They find Salphron and their leader gruffly says, "Welcome to Alfheim. We want no trouble. We have supplies to sell, and markets to buy if you've got goods to sell. What can we do for eachother?"

Salphron's Doom

It was called the Epicenter of Disaster, because it alone survived the end of the universe untouched.... everything else was moved or rearranged/recreated... it stood unchanged where it was.... only dissolute and dead. Sense new life being restored to it (in a patch on it... the island is still covered in dead vegetation and barren tree's) and the town flourishing no ones really came up with a better name for it. Some even like the name as it tends to scare off tourist and random visitors to the town combined with them having undead..... so some are happy to embrace it and live the quite life.

The green area shows whats been reclaimed the town, forest, and farms, the brown dead forest, the purple dried up dead swampland, the purple stars are portals, the pillars are whats left of a monuments to heros of old... they line the path up the mountain... many still intact some of the gratest hero's of the past world before it's destruction, the little brown building the artifact masters hut, the red one where the castle WAS, and then the cave being salphron's lair. Which is currently only guarded by an mindless undead dragon who may or may not be animate, but likely beyond salphrons ability to control right now due to how powerful it was.... thankfully it is bound to the cave and can't leave it as part of it's very existence. Part of the very reason he was able to make it ridiculously powerful was he bound strict rules into it that it couldn't leave the cave to remove several limitations on it's power.

Salphron finds it was useful to make himself as human as possible when that woman was around... company arrived rather quickly. Before they got close he used the rose and shadow magic to produce the rose's regalia, minus the crown not wanting to look to garish, as well as the sword in it's sheath at his side and a cloak before they got to close to see him so he could great them in style.  He bowed and smiled. "Greetings, My name is Salphron me and my people bring no trouble we are but refuges from another realm, fleeing persecution from a madwoman bent on stealing away the destinies of others. Worry not though as we seek not asylum, the realm we come from was under sedge from the void and protected by mighty barriers that save them from there fate... but it makes them prisoners in there realm, and they can not pursue us. Our island was unique, a separate but connected in it's own little bubble.... i broke the connection and hurdled it away from there realm. There is no away for her to follow me, and she will get what she wanted anyway." He looks back over his village and then to the Sheriff "We have little to trade save stones and lumber right now as my personal reserves are guarded by a beast I've lost control of. But the only thing we are lacking are air and power. We need air to breath, and with out power the island will crash into the plant causing massive devastation. I think it would be best if we could find a place to set the island down. Is there any unclaimed land on the planet bellow we could land.... preferably rich in mana or some other source of power, and/or resources."

Salphron's Doom

At the mention of "lumber", many people's interest was perked. When Salphron asked if there was any unclaimed land, there was jovial laughter among many in the party.

The sheriff responded, "Well, sir, you're in luck. We need lumber, and we have Magem to spare." The sheriff gives a rundown of what Magem is - anything the general public would know, but not its real name or nature. "As for land, more than 99.9% of the land on this planet is unexplored and unclaimed. We can help you find unclaimed land in any part of the planet. Or you can remain in orbit if you just use some extra Magem power."

OOC: Magem micro-crystals are already forming all over the island, especially around concentrations of earth, air, water, fire and void.

Salphron's Doom

(I'm guessing spirtual magics of a 3 is no good for telling any small amount of magem on this planet is alive)

Well they saw a few hundred acre of dead wood when they came in to land.... so the island obviously has/had fertile land, and a few acres around the town are obviously fertile... covered in lush grass, fields, and a patch of woodland.... and the grass is spreading into the deadwoods.

"Well this Magem sounds similar to the elemental crystals we are use to, so it should power the Island, but conserving power would probably be best. The amount of energy needing to leave the planet is not far off from the amount to supply air and lift to stay in orbit for an extended period. So finding a place to land should be a priority. We only have a small store of lumber for repairs and future building projects that are ready for trade, however we have an strong labor force and stretches of deadwood ready to clear that could likely solve all your lumber needs. If you have druids my people would be happy to see life restored across the island, and we could use strong metals to build structures to seal our portals when we desire them so as our original method won't work right now." The clan of the black dragon had always been about mercenary work, but as of founding this town he learned to work in trade business as well, and this was a good place to start it up again from the looks of things. The planet bellow looked desolate and having a good 300~400 acres of fertile land...... "How are your people on food? We make some extra crops for trade now but we could expand our farms if needed. A few of the smaller fragments of land around the island have fertile soil on them that would be to much trouble for us to use, that we could part with."

OOC: Not yet at least. How would Salphron answer the 3 best things question? It'll help with plot choice.
IC:
One of the group steps forward, "I'm the scientist among us. Something about the soil on Alfheim kills all plant life from other planets. The only plants that grow are inedible for us, but there is a natural cattle creature that eats the local vegetation, and tastes delicious. Because of this, we don't get much fresh veg except by Portal, and that's expensive to transport and store, and it goes bad very fast. We've tried importing fertile soil, but the micro-organisms spread too quickly. They can't survive away from this planet's unique magnetospheric surface, but no other plants can survive on this planet's surface either. You'll have to remain in orbit if you don't want your island terraformed by Alfheim. On the plus side, wood is exceptionally well preserved and never rots on Alfheim. Structures that are thousands of years old have been uncovered. You could always start a colony on the surface anywhere you like."

One of the others says, "My cousin on Arbaelf knows a Druid. I'll send for him to help with that."

A metallurgist pipes up, "We have some exceptionally strong materials that I could sell you."

All of the repairs and set-ups that Salphron wants to make happen, with a enough profit after all of the costs are levelled out to fund whatever adventure or quest Salphron decides to embark upon.

Salphron's Doom

If undercutting the vegetable import, maximizing supply and demand (IE... lowering the price so just enough people can afford it as there output is, and lowering the price as they make more to match it), is enough to keep the mana needed to supply air and lift to the island keeping it out of the magnetosphere surface. Then he will stick to that.

He will set the undead work force to clearing the dead wood while expanding the re-forestation and field work. Well clearing and tilling the fields anyway, planting the trees and farming will have to fall on the living, but hard labor can be done by the dead as they don't tire and can work around the clock..... they can also save on power by having the undead clear the land while keeping the air bubble small and only expland the atmosphere out when the fields are ready to be planted.

Most of the people in the village are use to this changing air field and they have a system for marking the current limits of breathable air.... but it hasn't been in use for a few years so makes sure they teach the youngest children about it ASAP.

As for things he looks into doing...

Finding if there any necromantic tombs of note known of and not investigated yet. (no one brave enough to ect ect) or such things that might lead to him finding things that might icnress his power to help him rise his brethren.

Any rumors of gemstones with odd power/mana/efects/rumors about them/ect that are not this Balur stuff... for the rose. It's hurt and a quick way to juice it up is some gemstones with some umph in them.

Learning more about balur... why there only 5 elements.... paticuarly no light/dark... chaos/order.... death/life  or anything like that?

And on a side note always keeping an ear out for anything related to the sword. He was producing a large quality of dark mater infused metal with a high mass. But that's in his cave. (he was about ~30% or so the way to having enough to make an ingot the size of a buss and comress it down to normal sized ingot and work with it to try and see if that helped lol but never got there... as it was EXSPESNISEVE to make and reauired a large amount of the dark mana crystals and a rare metal   or the equivlent of 100~1000 dust void crystals and rare metal for one)

Not sure what you mean about the 3 best things questions, I forgot what your talking about......

Also I forgot he did have elemental magic, can I just take one out of necromancy and put it into that.... if you rolled for his necromancy uses you could just say I burnt dice for it? x.x

Since he comes from another universe, his form of necromancy is probably very different than the native necromancy. Tell me how his form of necromancy worked.

There're lots of ugly people in the world, so no one asks about the ugly people who seem to be acting like slaves around Salphron's island. But if he mentions necromancy - people get really nervous really fast. There are necromancers in this universe, but they are invariably evil and self-centered. If he hints at the idea of spiritual magics without specifically looking for necromancy, Salphron is told to talk to the druid.

There are indeed rumors of such artifacts - mostly on Elf worlds, Dwarf worlds and other ancient worlds. Alfheim has some archeological sites that may contain such treasures.

One of them answers, "No one knows why there are only 5 elements for Magem. But we do know that there are only 5."

"Talk to the druid about other magics."

And on a side note always keeping an ear out for anything related to the sword.
Salphron is able to slowly gather metals and void crystals for this purpose.

Added it in.

After the party leaves, the next day the druid shows up.

Salphron's Doom

Happyness is a little subjective and his emotions are rather numbed as you might expect.  He likes to see the name oxf his clan spread, for it's people to prosper, for them to claim more land, ect. But that could all be more a sense of pride than happyness.

Even if restoring his old clan becomes imposable the clan itself is something he strives for. Bringing a sense of order, building a strong nation where people could feel safe and no one would dare attack. Thought his thoughts on how to do this have slightly shifted from instilling fear and terror in everyone to just those that would cross it attack them.

There isnt realy anything that would make life not worth living... he will always pick back up and start from nothing if he has to. He has killed himself a few times yes but he knew he could reconstitute himself evenchaly and he took out other people doing who where his enemies.

As for bringing up necromancers he will just say he'd made a hobby if clearing them out of dangers for people in the world he came from, bosts he even killed a litch king that was terrorizing a nation. That way he dont have to lie and can put them at ease. Though he did kill the litch for the reward and to loot the tomb and claim his army.  Note to self: don't let people wonder down into the islands depths where the litch kings nectropolipse was teleported. Finding a massive underground crypt-city would probaly freak these people out. >.>

So he has to go back to being low key on searching for necrometic stuff or make his own guess he could inspect this void magum and makes sure they get some of that with the air they are getting.

He also has some of the town's technitions get to work on building something that can scan the planet below for resorces.

His form of necromancy is kinda just freeform...its physical and spiritual. The mindless stuff uses magic and treats bodies like material for magical machines like flesh/bone golems... the ones with intelligence or living dead both work with souls but unless there willing your binding the souls to your will forcefully and they will try and escape. (Usaly giving them a time limit) undead ether have magic woven into them some how like potent magics or runes or gems the like something to animate them and are perminate... or are just temporary and limited in number by how strong the controller is... undead can be taken over by another necromancer but its complicated to do so with terminate ones unless the controller is dead-dead. Taking control over a willing undead is temporary and generally pisses them off =p. Also having someone's permission before they die can let you set up magics that let you raise them as undead when they die automatically. Not that he could now. Lol

I would note now that I remember the world had electricity and computers I am not sure if the machine holding the island up used any as it was alchemical in nature and made by a madman who meant it to run on souls....salphon modified it to run on other forms of energy.... but the control and display interfaces for it I think had electrical circuitry in them.... as likely would anything his techs build. The islanders might own a few tech gadgets as well too if any of them where adventures or fought in the arena... the islands industries whernt enought for anyone to earn enought money for them otherwise though.

That world was similar to this one  in that way...tech was not yet cheep on every world.

Someone would've noticed the electrical equipment. There are electrical equipment mines in Alfheim. A trained professional will show up around the same time as the Druid.

I'm re-reading some old stuff to remind myself where I was going with the necromancers in this universe.

Since the plot is likely to go by way of necromancers and their hunters, I'll go ahead and let you know that once they complete their scanning equipment, they'll find just about anything they scan for other than vegetation. Name it and I 'll roll the dice to be sure. The more common the item, the more likely it's there.

(Thought there was the whole electricty and balor not getting along thing)

Void energy is prity rare on a planet but tries to find some place with void energy and particularly strong or dense metal like what he was working with before.

He starts to see about setting up a small outpost, mostly undead and living dead, on the planet bellow for mining and harvesting. Though he see's if any of the town folk are interested in running a ranch to bring the town a larger supply of meat as there current meat supply is just some farm animals that arn't in high enough of numbers to supply the whole town with a steady flow of meat yet. So they might be interested in incressing there meat intake even if they are use to getting there proten mostly through eggs.

OOC: I was unclear in my meaning. The elecrical equipment mine is primarily archeological since electrical equipment hasn't worked in a very long time. But some people (especially those who interact with newly discovered Oners) know how to help those people convert to Magem based technology.

Salphron's R&D will eventually find appropriate celestial bodies (asteroids & such) to mine for both Void Crystals and quality metals.

The outpost and ranch will eventually be set up. There's plenty of land, but it will take many weeks to set it up.

Two Druids arrived from Arbaelf and made their way to Salphron.

Nathur and Constince were eachothers spouses. Nathur was a 12', 2000 year old Troll who wore a one-piece seamless lacy green robe. Nathur's skin was embedded throughout with Magem crystals of Earth, Water, some Air and a little Fire. The crystals created a mosaic image of flowers and fruit on a background of green leaves.

Constince, a 12' 300 year old Oni wore dark clothes that appeared black to the ordinary eye, but were in fact a vast intricate fractal pattern in subtle variations of every near-black colour. The fractal pattern of Constince's clothes complemented the pattern in her near-black skin, with some bioluminescent and some ultra-violet converting patterns woven throughout.

Nathur spoke first, "Greetings. We are Nathur and Constince of NatCon - Nature Consultancy."

Constince continued, "I am Constince, a 12' 300 year young Oni with an artistic flare and intuitive - what I call - magic. Especially for nature, but I am also proficient in Life and-a ... few other magics."

"And I am Nathur, a 12', 2000 year young Troll with a passion for life and nature. Between my sure and certain results," Nathur said.

"And my enduring results," Constince continued.

"The two of us, (and our apprentices)"

"we can solve any nature issue. For a price." Constince said, "So how can we help you, sir?"

They don't have an R&D really so much as some technicians that keep the machine that can move and teleport land masses around in check and tinker with it..... so a mad scientist or two on what is mostly per-industrial township. The univurse had computers and high tech stuff.... there world did not, but Salphron was uplifting it with what he had learned and from people he had brought in that knew about more as he had come from a non technological magical world himself.

Also can you roll for him having noticed that balur is growing on his world....

And that his first shipment of the stuff is alive....

shouldn't be hard to tell it's alive if it's a fair sized chunk... he can see living things... then again they do have a hard time sensing imortal life or vibrantly eternal life type things and balur isn't realy quick to die.... necromantic sense life is more a sense death/decay of life so you sense everything that is alive or dead but you sense dead things and things closer to death better and sensing things like imortals is hard..... so *shrugs*

As long as a single particle of Balur exists, it doesn't die. It will continue to live without approaching death - only getting more alive - as time goes on, so I don't think he could detect it that way.

EDIT: What are you trying to do by discovering the living nature of Balur? I may be able to guide the story to that end.

"Most of the tree's died simply of a loss of the atmosphere, however some died due to exposure to cataclysmic chaotic energies and interdenominational space or void energies. The devastation at the top of the mountain is not from an eruption or a meteor impact but a massive battle between myself and many hero's and void born monsters trying to consume all of reality...... this island was one of the few refuges that survived. After we won the battle little was left and the god of the realm remade everything but left this island intact as a monument to the battle and my home. When I started rebuilding my kingdom here we worked on bringing life back to the place but it's been a slow process with out a geomancer and I've not had the funds free to hire one for such a large job. With the high demand for lumber here though seams we might be able to work it out."

He looks to Constince, "Quite, if you are not ok with this I can look into finding some one else.... on the chance you wish to fight though I ask we take it outside the town." Not much a change of tone to that, seams use to it... though he did try to use his magic to seam alive as much as he can. It's just easier to hide what he is some times.

Between the funds you raise from lumber and the Crystals, I think we can work out a mutually beneficial contract. We'll be ready to begin as soon as the agreement is made."

Constince said, "In general, I have no problem with it, but I would like assurance of your personal necromantic ethical guidelines. Also, I may have information that will be of interest to someone like you..."

"I'm sure we can work something out"  (can roll Eons Old Battle King & Elder Shadow dragon with some pumping to negotiate a good deal with her and the people he's selling the lumber to when they come to pick it up)

"My ethics are admitably malleable given the desperation of a situation. However I respect the dead and prefer to use the bodies of mindless beasts or those who have shown no respect for life or death, and the souls of the willing. If you have daught examine the dead and question the living dead of this town.  I would be interested in hearing what information you might have, and if you have talents in dealing with death perhaps you could gauged if you could release the dragon near the summit so I could raise him again under my control when I grow able.  Last I did I was far stronger and my magics can no longer control him."

Constince could likely feel the radiant death energies from the town... it is a fairly strong undead dragon.... thankfully it is only mindless with only the desire to protect the cave, resting, and can't leave the cave. ^.^;;;

08:28, Today: Narrator, for the NPC Nathur's negotiation, rolled 18 using 3d6 ((6,6,6)).
Target 18 to lower the price.
6 or lower and the price goes up.

Constince sighed and visibly relaxed, "You don't know what a relief it is that you're not one of those necromancers. I don't think I can help with your dragon, but I heard rumours that you were searching for necromancer tombs and gemstones of power.

"I know of just one place you might want to investigate. It's on an ancient planet that has stubbornly resisted large-scale human colonization. People call it the WoodWideWeb. The Wood for short.

"The Wood has miles upon miles of root/trunks that climb and support one another in a massive miles high arbistructure. There are multiple sentient species including the fungoid Vungtra, Redwood Moths, Higharmed Monkeys, Greens and possibly others. Most of these species treat humans as just another species. They aren't all friendly.

"In the Wood, a necromancer built his tomb among the branches in the pitch-black mid-region where dead things fall from above and decay spreads slowly but steadily. He had a few items of power in his tomb. The location is kept secret since he has a curse over his tomb preventing Necromancer Hunters from entering. His own power fuels the curse, and enough NecroHunters or Nechunts find the tomb to keep his power too low to inhabit any living people.

"I'm an official member of the Nechunts, so I can't join you, but I can tell you where to find the tomb. If you can get rid of that necromancer - his name is Frael - I can give you the protection of the guild. Assuming you stay true to the moral standards we spoke about."

"I should expect miscommunication given that you're from another universe. To be clear, he's not killing the root system. The dead things falling from above is standard at that level of the structure, and the slowly progressing decay is also standard. It's part of the natural cycle of the ecosystem there. We believe he's using the natural death and decay present in that zone to power himself and possibly his artifacts as well.

"The natural cycle of the arbistructure begins in a recently collapsed section. Woodworms begin consuming the fallen branches and producing hyper-nutritious soil. The woodworms continue growing in size until their food source is exhausted. Meanwhile various fungal organisms aid the decay of the fallen structure. Once the wood & debris is all broken down, new seedlings begin growing. For the next 50-300 years, the trees climb each other and grow upward for access to sunlight and fresh water. Once grown, the ordinary fauna returns to the arbistructure. It usually lasts a few hundred to a few thousand years at most before it collapses and the cycle restarts."

"I was wondering if there is anything sentient living bellow or would his tomb falling cause any lasting damage to the ecosystem. In the previous world they had these odd cables that they used explosive force to cut things with, even cutting through thick metal supports to take down old buildings. While I do not think we could make anything like that, some magical runes linked together could reproduce the same result of a liner inward cutting force. The magic that protects his tomb should keep important chambers intact, if not the items of interest would survive enough for me to siphon off there power. While many of his army would be weaned if not eliminated by the fall."  Depending how strong the wood is the rose might be able to do it.... though doing so may exhaust it's strength for some time.

"Well, consider the fact that the planet's gravitational balance is affected by the growth of the root/trunk network, and it takes years for gigantic worms to process the deadwood. Consider that there are multiple sentient species - some fungoid which tend to thrive in areas of natural death and decay. Not that I have any objection to your plan, just be aware that those above would be as affected as those below due to the interconnectivity of the root/trunk network."

With the similarities it's almost like Salphron's last world had magem in it.... it just didn't develop into living thing, let alone a sentient one, instead it just adapted to more types of energy. So it didn't replace there magic, just enhanced it.

Up to you really... it's doubtful every mana crystal was used up, particularly the parts in the equipment and magical devices, or the ones owned by the township they didn't offer up to help.

Before he leaves he places some roses around town to grow up the sides of buildings and plant themselves on the roofs giving some good views of the town so he will know if anything happens while he is gone.

He leads her to the portal that was moved and set up south of the town, it still has power though every location it knows to lock onto are beyond it's reach. "We have our own, though I'm not sure if our magics are similar enough to work with each-other." It was altered and redesigned to work with an SG-1 style iris... however it was made with the rose, and with the weakening of the rose all it's structures decayed away. He fixes this though restoring the crystal iris's... and sends out two mini rose guardians pets to skitter across the island to the other portals and plant themselves forming iris's on the other portals... the rose might not be as strong enough to block a portal forming anymore, but it can make it harder.

OOC: Are you saying it grew like Magem grows? Because if you are, then that is awesome, and will likely change a few things. Also, what sorts of magic did it enhance? What was the realm of action where magic occurred? Is magic a purely physical phenomenon in that world, directly explainable by nothing other than physical laws, or does magic require something beyond physical to work? How did the crystals enhance their magic?

IC:
Assuming the iris is open and there is a clear space on either side of the Portal ring structure. Constince takes out a fold-out portable Portal ring and expands it to fit in Salphron's Portal ring. She keys in the destination address on the keypad, and feeds it the proper number of Magem crystals. "We'll charge this to your account."

The spherical Portal opens, and she says, "Let's go!"

And how does one detect when these crystals are starting to form? And how quickly do they spread?

Salphron dove into the Portal and had the twisting sensation followed by the odd passage through what seemed to be a perfectly smooth cylindrical mirror walled tube and out past another twisting sensation into a tree-hut platform over the tops of a jungle foliage. "We're on the surface. The temple is 3 miles down. You may use one of our Centipedal Climbers." She points to a few 10' long seated vehicles with about 100 legs along the sides. For navigation it had double joystick manual override controls and an autopilot. The autopilot was already set to take him to the tomb.

You can sense the mana in it but otherwise you can't detect it any special way... it grows as mana gathers .. usaly around sorces of mana... and it can spread around sorces or areas high in mana... or spread on other crystals or from them.  It's rare for them though to just spread in places that don't have a lot of mana.

Hums and takes the climber... if the woman don't come along after getting out of reach but before getting in reach of the tomb just turns into a shadow and blinds into the climbers shadow riding it down as not to be noticed.

Right. I like them so much, they've spread through Fayarillis and the Sideways and are now present throughout the Onerverse, long enough that they're starting to become harvestable in some places. They follow the 6 fields of Magus: Imagus, Kenimagus, Formagus, Verimagus, Unimagus and Omnimagus. They work best with people who are already skilled in that field, but they can act as conduits to perform spells that require elements you wouldn't normally be able to use. They will be rare finds, and any luck crystals nearby will virtually guarantee they don't get found. I'll introduce them slowly, but Salphron would notice them as being similar but different to what he remembers.

The Necromancer's tomb was a collection of ruined stone temples of a variety of cultural origins floating together in a certain shape. The collection of ruined temples almost seems to form the shape of a man sitting. There is one obvious entrance, though a number of windows. Just inside the entryway there is a Mummified Lion (2/2). It looks in Salphron's direction, "Greetings, fellow mage of death. I suggest you leave before I awaken my guardians."

Salphron notices that the energy he felt was some sort of scan in the spirit realm - as if the spirit of the necromancer reached out to feel the surface of Salphron's spirit.

Mumified Lion (1/2) says, "How DARE you! Threatening me at my own tomb, and declaring your intentions to steal from me! If you are capable of taking what you want, then COME AT ME! I hope you have an army with you, because I want this fight to be enough of a challenge to make it worthwhile for me to take a body and finish you off myself. If you had offered me spirits to consume and if you hadn't threatened to take my artifacts, I would've taken you up on your offer. But I can't accept your conditions. I will take great pleasure in consuming your soul."

Salphron feels another wave of energy and senses that dead things within the tomb are beginning to move around.

There are dead things around outside of the tomb. 5 Vungtra, 3 of the monkey things, 10 skeletons of fallen Necrohunters, and a giant 30' long python.

"But put words in my mouth... If you would rather fight than talk than it is sounding like you lied about what you wanted, simple survival is not good enough for you... or perhaps you hide another nature... a beast that will starve with out souls? If that is the case can you survive on the souls of simple beasts?"

He readies his weapon the darkstar blade forming in his hand... at first the blade looks like a hole cut into reality opening up into the vastness of space... but when his hands take the hilt it quickly draws in all the darkness in nearly the sounding acre or more into it and the blade goes dark, a total absence of light like a black hole in the shape of a swords blade, even if the blades massive reserve of darkness mana was drained it was still an intemidating sight.

(Going to try something odd here then....)

"I see that, impressive recovery time even for a prepared vessel. I see you are more like myself than I had thought." He burns World Forger [1/1] -> [0/1] to create a soul trap from a darkness mana crystal and some metal that slowly wraps around it forming runes. While the rose stops burning and grows dark pulsing with dark energy as the vines shift and move over and around the tomb forming anarchic patterns... They make a cage, one that serves as a rune covered antenna/really/focusing array (giving an equipment bonus). "While I have learned to live in balance with life and death, and it may be slower it is safer for oneself and those around them.... But I have not forgotten the ways of those less patient than myself nor do I avoid learning from them."  He finishes crafting a soul gem and part of the rose lashes out and grabs onto it finishing the trap he's made.

Undying Inter-dimensional Litch King [3/3] bumped to 5/3  +  what ever equipment bonus  from the rose.... drain the necromancers soul (or least start doing so) into the soul gem.

As far as the equipment bonus while the rose can quickly form vines and plant like growths it can form crystal formations of any shape and a size dependent on how strong it is (quite a bit mind you it was making a castle with ease) it is forming a crystal array to help channel his powers...and to surround the necromancer giving him no where to go.

Like I said not sure if it will work but only way I can think to out power a 5

(that makes pumping awfull scary o.o)

He sighs "You have shown me how you think... can I trust that you will leave me alone?  Don't worry you will survive, even if you need to feed on souls to hold yourself together, this prison will keep you intact on it's own." He finished the incantation to draw the necromancers soul out into the gem.

If that works he uses his necromancy to take control over the undead creatures in the tomb and call them up to the entrance, removing the rose-cage if he controls them all.

And again another if.... he will craft together the best ones, into a humanoid flesh golem to house the soul gem. His plans to create an undead golem to house the necromancers soul that is only able to follow his comands... able to speak freely (save casting spells)... but otherwise a slave body incapable of acting outside it's comands, unable to harm it's master at all... and unable to harm anyone else unless it's told to. A body that will disitigrate should he some how use liberties to try and undo the bonds that control his actions (or get some one else to)

A VERY VERY VERY VERY short leash to keep the necromancer on.

He can add additional procotions later (like if the soul gem is shattered it will collapse into a portal that will tier his soul away some where quite unpleasant lol)

Should ALL THIS work out..... lol..... he animates it and greets his creation with a... "Good morning... I need you to guide me through you traps."

(lol hope thats not to much 'and if that works' ^.^;;;)

A pale Leprechaun dressed in tie-dyed business suit, whacks the soul gem with a stick topped with a giant rat's skull and strangely, a fairly large collection of gemstones that looks like the mana-stones of his home universe, but many somehow different. The Soul Gem beeps and flashes red once.

22:46, Today: Narrator, for the NPC Necromancer, rolled 3 using 1d6 with rolls of 3.  Necromancer [1/40] resist control.
22:45, Today: Narrator, on behalf of Salphron, rolled 5 using 2d6 with rolls of 1,4.  World Forger & Necromancy/Spirit.

Salphron just barely manages to succeed, but he does succeed. Not on a scale, but just as aimed for as if it were pass or fail in this instance.  OOC: please see your CS

As soon as the flesh golem is completed, the Soul Gem beeps and blinks green light. Tendrils shoot out from the Soul Gem, and the whole Golem shrinks down into a little metal ball with the Soul Gem. When the Gem is tapped by anyone or anything else, unless by Salphron's will, it does nothing. But if by his will it is tapped, it opens up and the Necromancer in a Flesh Golem comes out, ready to do his will. It can be used as if a lvl 40 creature, but will use up its life as it is used up in battle or in double pumped spell casting. When it reaches 0, the Soul Gem will implode. What exactly that will mean, Salphron is uncertain.

After Salphron deploys the WoodWideWeb Necromancer AKA WWW Nec [40/0], it obediently leads the way through the traps in the tomb, walking aimlessly until given a destination.

Once told to reveal the location of the artifacts, it fights internally vehemently against Salphron's will, but ultimately obeys.

All told, there are 2 Undead 30' Anacondas (15/0); 39 Shadowmen (10/0); 13 Skeletal mages [5/0]; 85 Zombie Vungtra (3/0); and a Loyal Zombie Cult (661/0)

He obtains 5 Booby-trapped chests that will require living sacrifices to open, and an undidentified Fire Mana Gem ((naming scheme finished - waiting on revelation of the nature of the mana stone when it is first used & identified to reveal the name)) in the shape of a rose.

There is one final object he points out - a scepter he calls a Bloodstone Staff [1/0]. It has the skull of a horse-sized Dragon on top, with a strange reddish stone ((Magustone)) for one tooth, and a hollow spike on the bottom of the staff. The inscription on the side, according to the WWW Nec reads, "The blood of my enemies empowers me." He says that it has limited power to aid spells, but is re-powered by stabbing it in fallen victims. It absorbs blood from those who died violently to produce powerful spells.

EDIT: He says the tomb is held aloft by a few Magus created Portal projectors ((like Aquatorus if you remember that)). They are embedded in the central stone Orb in the Temple, and in 3 identical Orbs placed in strategic places around the WWW planet.

He raises a brow at the Leprechauns appearance and help but don't question it, as it leaves before he really could anyway. (I take it). The augments to the gem where interesting, he would defiantly have to study them later. It seams he had sparked the interest of some one else with grate power, which could be quite helpful and dangerous.

"My intent was for a body I could repair, however due to some interference you are much more powerful, but I have no way of restoring your form, power, or moving it to another body... once you are exhausted your fate is quite unserten, but dose not look to be a fair one. I shall endeavor to keep you from combat if at all possible." When given the tour. "What sort of sacrifices do the chests require and what is inside them? If there is a portal in the tomb where dose it lead?"

He finds the rose rather peculiar as it resembles when some one tried to make a replica of his own, and he examines it to try and figure out what it is. "And what is this and where did you get it?"

It requires no energy to maintain, that's why I used it as the anchor for my temple." About the rose, "That same Leprechaun gave me a red seed and told me to keep it around fire Magus energy. I placed it below my Eternal Flame, which you've now trapped. It is filled with Fire Kenimagus energy. Fire magic Mana. It is called Fire Kenimana, and it is like Magusstone, but specific to fire Kenimagus and can give you access to those spells without needing knowledge of the field of Magus." He then proceeds to give a basic explanation of what Magus is etc. to explain those terms.

Well that's not happening......

Well if the rose don't like it, it won't absorb it so... He takes the actual rose's form out and brings it down to touch the other rose. It is self aware and knows whats best for itself.... just leave it up to it.

(if it lets the rose talk again...it don't have much of a personality... it's about what you would expect out of a crystal entity... kinda like an AI... all very mater a fact responses and carries out it's orders)

He sets about organizing the dead and preparing to transport, while having anything capable of carrying or moving things gather up.... well anything that wasn't nailed down.

In the meantime he formed a rose guardian and sent it skittering back along the vines to Constince, he forgot to leave her a rose to talk to her... silly him.

He uses the rose to communicate with the living dead back home and tell them about the side of the temple and get them to start ordering the masses of dead to dig out room in the caverns where the necropolis is to store it there.

Then he packs up the WWW Nec in his gem, heads outside and has one of the undead inside hit the button. There undead, it don't matter if there is air or not in the pocket.

Once it's packed up he grabs it and gets on the buss and heads back to Constince and the portal.

When Salphron returns to his land, he is met by an ancient 6'6" woman dressed in black and grey robes. "I am Norfal, m'Lord. I am of the Priest peoples of this Oner." Her long thin and wispy white hair practically crackles in the breeze. "I am 666 years old, and I will die this year 6 months, 6 days and 6 hours before my birthday. It has been my life's prophecy that I would become the enabler of a great and noble mage of death in my own death. Therefore I beg you to take my life and restore it to me that I might serve you for 1000 years. After my years of service to you, I will have learned enough to ensure my own eternal survival in my own Oner, with my own servants who - if they will serve me half as well as I would serve you, I would be fortunate indeed."

Lawful evil. She has a strict personal moral code, but it isn't typically considered "good". She is absolutely truthful, though she can be wrong, she will never lie.

You have entered into my world and broken the course of history. The spirits are quite agitated. New prophecies are flowing from the oracles like springs. Whole star systems have altered their courses. The expected death date of Oner 0 has leapt closer and now remains uncertain. An ancient lost planet has-"

Just then an image of a planet exploding appears in the sky, more distant than the background radiation yet simultaneously everywhere at once.

The Priest, Norfal continues without appearing bothered or surprised, "just died in such a way that nearly everyone has now seen it's death. Dragons are becoming interested in the events of humans yet again. Leprechauns are appearing all over the place. Portents of a doom pervade the ether. Need I go on?

"As for what I can do for you, I can heal your undead as easily as your living. I can summon nearly any spirit, soul or otherworldly being. I can speak with all creatures. ... And I can provide the willing blood and life sacrifice you require to open your newly obtained treasures if you agree to raise me and let me serve you for 1000 years."

He don't really need anything.... but for best results he should prepare all sorts of stuff.... think like magus works. You can do it just on the fly and stuff, but if you want really good results, well then you want to do stuff like set up a magic circle have reagents, do all sorts of things.

His plans was to gather every thing from the temple and transport it down to the necropolis actually if he had time... but if she was dying soon set it up all there in the temple. Maybe use up the bodies of any Zombie Vungtra and Shadowmen that where created from inocents or children and the like to drain the dark and death energies from them, and release there souls.... and use the energies (not the souls) to power the magic and pump it several times.

He's lost a lot of his power so has to make up for it to make sure she is a truely immortal living dead that won't rot and decay and will look pasable as a living being with out having to feed on the souls of others..... don't think he can pull that off with Undying Inter-dimensional Litch King [2/3] and World fordger [0/1] even throwing in the power of the items he has.....

he needs other things to give him power to give her that.

I mean he can't even pull that off for himself right now.... maybe if he left his body behind but he don't want to risk that right now >.>

He WILL however abandon any sense of humanity or life to do it.... which is why he would rather do it down in the caverns... but hey if the worlds coming to and end.... >.>

Anything...... the more full of death energy the stronger his body is, more able it is to hold itself together with out having to spend energy to keep it from decaying to bone. The more fresh (or alive) the easier it is to appear as if he was alive with out expending energy to maintain it.

Shadow dragons are quite large... elder shadow dragons are more on the scale of small mountain ranges in there full size.

He would not only have to regain his lost power though to get that big again, he would have to eat a small mountain worth of bones, and a large mountain of flesh. o.o

He is not all that worried about it though and don't care about his size long as his form is able to contain his power.... and considering his power is quite the bit weaker now.... there isn't much to worry about there.

Though talking about him sheeding his human form to gain a boost in power (not waisting energy looking alive, not waisting energy cloaking his own energies or his death state, not waisting energy creating a false living state, and not wasting energy making his form small and human).....   I can't help think of mumm-Ra

BTW, remember how ghosts eat spirits, and when they roll for advancement, their temporary gains act as extra dice in the roll and lead to rapid levelling up? Well, necromancers do that too. That's why WWW Nec is so powerful at full strength. WWW Nec isn't even a very powerful necromancer.

IC: Norfal informs Salphron, "I am also a friend of this Oner's Dragons, and one of the Dragon clans has agreed to give you a gift which should be arriving... now."

Suddenly dinosaurs.

Lots of 4'-12' dinosaurs, all over the orbital island. In addition to this, the area of Salphron's island has been doubled.

Norfal explains, "Dragons of this Oner are all female, except for the first offspring of the first Dragon. They are capable of altering any part of their biology through manipulation of their genetic code. This is an innate ability for them. Dinosaurs are the genetically designed offspring of Dragons - originally hatched to gather protein to their Matron - the Dragon who designed and hatched them. These and the extra land are a gift to you, in hopes that you will develop a relationship with the Dragons of this Oner. You are their only eligible bachelor, and your male otherworldly dragon DNA is highly coveted.

"These dinosaurs are all sentient and all are willing sacrifices to do your bidding - from moving furniture to even feeding you their very flesh. After all, that was their original designed intent.

"I would very much like to transition to death as soon as possible, what else might you need for that purpose?"

Norfal says, "I sense that these items are somehow connected to another being.
Using the Blood blade will make you like a Sangwen for as long as you have the blade ((she explains everything in the People & Places thread about Sangwen)).
Using the Life blade will give you the power to cut curses if you are willing to pay the prices. The blade will reveal the prices.
Using the Control Gem will give you the power to override the free-will of others - even inanimate objects. But the price is the power ((used over you by the GM toward generally evil intentions yet helpful to Salphron - yet with delayed repercussions equal to the cost incurred on the one controlled. But not even Norfal knows that much, so there's no way Salphron could know this, though he may suspect that some other entity may have some limited form of control over him as a result, he couldn't know for sure. The Rose absorbing and using the power would give me that same control over the Rose instead of Salphron)).
Using the Mind gem gives access to Mind Verimagus spells, but leaves the mind of the caster open to being read by the creator of the gem when in the presence of its creator.
Using the Spirit gem gives access to Spirit Verimagus spells, but creates a weak stackable spirit-bond with the things the user uses it on.
Using the Dark cloth gives access to Dark Imagus spells, but causes the user to subconsciously prefer the Dark.
Using the Shadow cloth gives access to Shadow Imagus spells, but causes the user to subconsciously seek Shadow.
Using the Solid cloth gives access to Solid Imagus spells, but causes the user to lose natural Solidity.
The fossil tooth set is just enchanted to increase Necromancy success. ((completely true, no catch))
Igor's meep morp is really interesting, and I think I would like to contemplate it at length sometime."

For all the magical items, every time I said "you" I meant "the caster" or "user" or whatever. Not you specifically, but whoever is directly using it. So if the Rose absorbs it, it becomes a sort of Sangwen - but a non-human Sangwen (which is rare but possible).

Norfal suggests that he consume a specified amount of Dinos to allow them time to reproduce fast enough to keep up a steadily increasing stream of protein, life and souls. Assuming he agrees, his CS has been adjusted accordingly.

So it works like this for advancement for Necromancers:
Necromancy Cliche [10/3]
is the equivalent of:
*** *** * Necromancy Cliche [3/3]

Regarding the curses, the rose could absorb the Life blade without harmful side-effects since that isn't actually cursed, but blessed. Once done, the Rose could tell you what would be required to break the other curses on the other objects, and reveal any curses anywhere.

The solidity cursed cloth probably wouldn't hurt the void blade's function since Salphron could still wield it & use it to full function but others wouldn't be able to touch it.

The tooth boosts necromancy rolls to d8s instead of d6s.

The Rose absorbs the Life Blade and assesses the other items:

-Blood blade will make you like a Sangwen for as long as you have the blade - the only curse is a slight increase in the likelihood of encountering violence, made worse if Sangwen powers are used to oppress others. To break the curse of increased likelihood of violence, consume no blood, only vegetables, nuts and fruit etc.
-The Control Gem curse causes the user (Rose if Rose absorbs it) to occasionally act erratically in a way benefitting the Rose or Salphron, though potentially causing a little trouble down the road. To break the curse, always gain the full consent of the thing being controlled through the Gem before controlling the thing. If already used, to break the curse, one must be sincerely sorry for the wrongness of the deed and feel deserving of the cost of the curse that is coming. This curse will transfer to anyone who directs the actions of the Gem, so even if Rose uses it, if Salphron told it to use the Gem, Salphron receives the cost of the curse.
-The Mind gem 'legible mind' curse can be broken by never using it to read an unwilling mind
-The Spirit gem 'weak stackable spirit-bond' curse is more of a side-effect than a curse. But the connections can be broken if anyone harmed by the use of the gem forgives the user.
-The Dark cloth 'prefer the Dark' curse can be broken by spending time in the Light.
-The Shadow cloth 'seek Shadow' curse can be broken by letting a Shadow consume the owner of the cloth before the cloth is ever used.
-The Solid cloth 'lose natural Solidity' curse can be broken by the user having their Solidity completely drained before ever using the cloth.

So it can only control some one if it is used? And only in minor ways that won't cause much trouble?  thats no where near as bad as you made it sound lol
quote:
-The Mind gem 'legible mind' curse can be broken by never using it to read an unwilling mind

-The Spirit gem 'weak stackable spirit-bond' curse is more of a side-effect than a curse. But the connections can be broken if anyone harmed by the use of the gem forgives the user.
whats a 'weak stackable spirit-bond' do?

quote:
-The Dark cloth 'prefer the Dark' curse can be broken by spending time in the Light.
not a big deal.... he's already like this... he prefers the dark and spends a lot of time in the light anyway
quote:
-The Shadow cloth 'seek Shadow' curse can be broken by letting a Shadow consume the owner of the cloth before the cloth is ever used.
he's an elder shadow dragon, he is shadow....  would this even affect him? lol

quote:
-The Solid cloth 'lose natural Solidity' curse can be broken by the user having their Solidity completely drained before ever using the cloth.

OOC: Blood blade will make the Rose capable of consuming blood to regenerate, and in truth, won't actually affect the rate of violence since that's actually determined by story and plot. I'm just saying it affects violence because of the curse over all Sangwen.

quote:
thats no where near as bad as you made it sound lol

Yeah, I forgot its connection to its creator. That connection can be broken by letting a dinosaur use it before the Rose does, and then killing the willing-to-die dino without using its spirit energy to avoid it being controlled by Pontorna. The general stuff is just the general cost of using Control element at all.

Same thing for the Mind gem - break the curse by letting a dino use it first, then killing the willing-to-die dino without using its spirit energy.

quote:
'weak stackable spirit-bond'

I don't know yet. It's meant to be used as a plot point. Basically it just associates the two, but how that association affects things is yet to be determined.

quote:
would this even affect him?

Trust me, give it to a dino to use first, and you'll see what will happen and break the curse at the same time.

quote:
Again he's been imiterial before..... and dead.... so he good here?

Give it to the biggest, scariest dino so you can have a visible ghost who can't touch anything walking around. Then the curse will be broken.

Ah so the cures are all set up to affect only the first person that uses them?

Well will take protections giving a death curse that will shortly kill the one taking the control gem incasse the curse dose have the potentional to do more, and kill it after it uses it before there is time for any control affects to come back on it. If that still gets rid of the curse...

The mind gem and darkness and shadow cloths can all be used by the same dino thats never been under into the necropolis and don't know about it and has only seen the other dinos sense they got there... some where out in the woods where having his mind read won't matter....

and sure... big scary T-Rex ghost to spook people could be usefull if they don't mind being stuck that way...

and was thinking of just not absorbing the blood blade so he could become part sangwen if need be...

see if his body could retain it's livelyness using blood

07. Salphron's Doom

OOC:
I'd like to change the name of Eons Old Elder Shadow dragon Battle King to Shadow Dragon Ancient King. Eons, old and elder all have the same sort of meaning, and dragon and king both imply battle. Plus it would be abbreviated either SDAK or AKaSD.

What do you mean by "Inter-dimensional" in "Undying Inter-dimensional Litch King"? King is redundant here, so I'd like to rename this too, but after I understand the "Inter-dimensional" part.

I seem to have forgotten to save the changes to your CS for the upgrade to Salphron's levels from the Dinos eaten, so I put it in.
Here it is so I don't have to do the math again in case I forget to update it again
*** *** Kluid Undying Inter-dimensional Litch King [200/3]
*** Obdeeks Eons Old Elder Shadow dragon Battle King [135/2]
I'd appreciate it if you rolled for advance, using the extras (200 from the 200/3 etc. I don't think they should stay that high for too long. Also, I'd consider combining the two cliches at the first chance to get triple pumping. To do advancement rolls, I've found rolling 3d2-3 for a (3/3) cliche will tell you how many even rolls you got, and is easier than using d6.

IC:
The dinosaur given the Control, Mind, Darkness and Shadow items uses them all to summon a Shadow-Mind, and seal it into the skull of one of his recently sacrificed brethren. The Shadow-Mind is basically Bob the Skull. Immediately a Shadow emerges from the nearby shadows. It is as tall as the 12' dinosaur, and it says, "First user of the Shadow Cloth, you have been promised to me, so I claim you." It touches the dinosaur whose flesh begins burning away in a black flame, leaving the dinosaur to experience ecstasy as its body is consumed by the Shadowflame. The Control, Mind, Darkness and Shadow items fall to the ground uncursed.

The T-Rex given the Solidity cloth, drains his solidity to speed the effect of the curse, until the process is done and the curse cleared.

Assuming all of the items absorbable by the rose are absorbed, and those absorbable by the Robes are absorbed, your CS has been updated as such:
** *** The Rose [7/2]
Darkness(void?), Fire, plant, water magics... crystal formations growing things...
   Fire Kenimagus spells
   Life, Death Formagus spells
Control, Mind, Soul, Spirit Verimagus spells
Power to cut curses if you are willing to pay the prices. The thorns of the Rose will reveal the prices.

** Robes of the Chosen of Darkness [3/0]
   Dark, Shadow, Solid Imagus spells

quote:
see if his body could retain it's livelyness using blood

Yup. While he is Sangwen, he can consume blood directly to heal and regenerate flesh and mana. Tell me how much blood he consumes, and whether he goes to dragon form or remains humanoid etc.

Ok that shadow like a living shadow under some one elses control, a evil spirit shadow, or what?  It still around?

How many would have he gotten if he had ate the dino souls?  O.o  that seams like a lot geze... a little over powered don't you think?

Can he branch off advancements to new stuff to add some magus?or you saying no dragons can use magus?

Sure you can rename the stuff if you like..... king redundances though are fine if you ask me... he's proud of being a king =p  XD

quote:
Ok that shadow like a living shadow under some one elses control, a evil spirit shadow, or what?  It still around?

It's an evilish spiritual creature, so it's not really alive, but it's not dead either. It is still around and could be communicated with or whatever.

quote:
How many would have he gotten if he had ate the dino souls?  O.o

Not a lot more. The edible portion of a soul only adds the 0 from a cliche, so if you consume a (5/5) you get 5 without the soul and 6 with it.

quote:
that seams like a lot geze... a little over powered don't you think?

That's the point. Necromancers usually have to work for every person they consume, but Norfal, the Dragons, Pontorna and a few others want to ensure that Salphron's path is made easier. Also, the left side of the cliche goes down over time. The higher it is, the faster it goes down. The added level is meant to give you the rapidly dwindling opportunity to increase your permanent level in peace time, and give you quick extra power in a battle. That's why Necromancers are such a threat and always more powerful than the average Joe adventurer. Evil comes with temptations, and power is the main temptation for Necromancers.

Besides, we need some powerful player controlled badguys (or at least neutral guys) to spice things up.

quote:
Can he branch off advancements to new stuff to add some magus?or you saying no dragons can use magus?

Mainly only Dragons from this Oner can't use Magus. Unless he has the ability to see his own DNA, he's able to use Magus.

Branch away, but remember that the Rose gives you a shortcut to Magus. Also,

If rolling for advancement isn't fun for you, I don't mind doing it for you

I don't see a problem with handing down the advancement to the guardian since it is part of the Rose. Could you help me understand the difference between them and their connection?

That will work for your Kenimagus acid thing. There's enough particulate acid and acrid substances in the air that recombining them with water would probably be able to make acid easily enough, so go for it. You'd be limited by the availability of those substances in the creation of the acid, but I think that would work. Highly skilled kenimagus users can manipulate & recombine individual atoms. Smoke passing through water probably would make acid anyway, and now I'm rambling. Give me your own reasoning & idea for acid and I'll probably accept it.

Think pet form.

It's a mobile crystal flower able to attack in various ways depending on what powers the rose has... it's main base attacks are with it's vines and opening up the flower and firing a energy beam from the blossom.

It's generaly linked in strength to the rose ..... if you want to just make it part of the rose can do that >.> *shrugs* would probably make more sense now that i think about it.

Basicaly though take over planet, use planets vast minerals and magem resorces to hire druids to bring life to the planet, set up farms and cities using unpaied dead labor (hazah for mindless slave labor it's free and cruality free if you over look the fact it's a bit discrasefull but hay most of them are from another univurse so who cares?), put the dead labor away and let off worlders flock in, world becomes a trade center for all sorts of reasons.

Soon as he figures out what Rulab is he can create a ritual shield around the world killing all Rulab on the planet and any Rulab that passes through the shield.

07. Salphron's Doom

"Master, it is clear that nobody has told you about the delicate ecosystem of the planet Alfheim. The microbial is on the surface of the soil that require sunlight in order to live, also provide some of the planets greatest assets. Although they break down anything dead that comes into contact them on the ground, they also preserve any structures that are created with them in mind. For example, a Prairie home was recently destroyed by a tornado and the microbials had rebuilt it within a day. You can imagine why people might not want to part with this particular ecosystem. The greatest challenges that this planet faces are travel, and law enforcement. if we can do something about those two problems, we will probably be in the position you were hoping for. And then, as you suggested, we can peacably take over. In the meantime our vast undead slave force can provide cheap mining labour. The mining resources on the planet are ... incalculable. How would you like to proceed?"

"I see.... both could be done, the same idea that would be applied to the Rulab could be implied to the microbiology creating zones where structures won't rebuild but plants will grow. If sand storms are a problem though they would have to be in places where there are natural barriers and water so I can't image there being many places."

"I do not think it would be affordable to set up a portal system. Is there anything like the insects on that one would that could be used for transportation? If they where undead it would  remove much the need for machines and allow a grate deal more space for storage and be quite ideal. Also considering the dinos are willing I could raise many as intelligence dead to help with law enforcement. It would take a little preparation but they could be raised into other bodies suiting there job."

OOC: Salphron doesn't know about Rulab yet.

IC: One of Salphron's researchers comes to him and says, "We've discovered a tiny microorganism that is eating a second tiny microorganism which is infiltrating everything. One of them appears to be a kind of magic. The other is consuming that magic. Upon examining some locals who use the crystalline form of magic, we have discovered that they are weakened by the parasitic organism."

She hasn't already done so, Norfal tell him about Balur/Magen, but she doesn't know about Rulab.

The microbial dead zones can be created. Any kind of giant insect you can imagine can be imported from a giant insect world.

You are welcome to make the resurrected dinosaur law enforcement officers.

He will speak with there spirits before resurrecting them to make sure they are willing, as he didn't speak to them before about this. Any that agree and have some skill or inclination to law enforcement will be raised into strong humanoid bodies.

He will give Norfal access to resources, acolytes and knowledge how to create a death ward of this scale... and give her control over several undead to build the structures needed to maintain the ward over long periods of time. Leaves her in charge of it but will over see her... lets her pick where to set up and if it's a good location for it will negotiate to buy up the land.

He will start importing the giant centipedes he could afford, devouring there insides and raising there exoskeleton, and having control techomagic desined for them them so they didn't need a necromancer to control them.

The velociraptors are most like wolves, and most aligned with law enforcement, and they all eagerly agree.

Norfal directs a few teams and converts a number of large empty areas into ritually prepared farmlands. The influx of food is immediately felt by an equally impressive surge in immigrants searching to stake their claims on this now more affordable jackpot planet.

How long would it take to devour the insides of one of them? That's how long it takes for him to buy his first 2. After that, he can buy them as fast as he can eat them or up to 1 per month.

He speeds things up by having the meat eating dino's cut, and clean the corpses... letting them keep a share to feed them. Then bring the rest to him to help incress the mass of his true form.

If willing will make some living dead velociraptors altering them into humanoid forms too to lead them, just a few so one to a given sector.

He looks into the goverment of the planet trying to control or set up his own goverment in the towns that are forming in the lands he controls.... and trying to buy up the land of new towns as they form. He also uses the fact he controls who gets scuttlebutt trains and who gets law enforcement first as a way to manipulate things, using the fact they are in short supply to him to avoid making it looking like he is actualy manipulating things so the people of the towns that do not get such do not resent him, but instead resent the governments of there towns.

Examines the farmlands, long as the runes look good and the feilds are stable and not using much magic ... all looks good... he gives her all the praises for a job well done.

He also see's if there is anything Norfal thinks should be done.... or well... just would LIKE to do, she is doing a good job.

Tell me how big he'd get after 12 years of this.

Velociraptor lawmen are successful, though they occasionally eat the corpses of outlaws in secret when they can't be discovered by the locals.

The rule of the towns in his land is easy to obtain, the people willingly give it to him as he maintains peace and a high standard of living. Other towns eagerly seek to join his emerging country.

The farmlands are a success, and populations supplied by them are rapidly growing.

She requests the opportunity to learn many magical Arts he can teach her.

These new elemental magus mana stones are growing all over the place, while magem crystals are appearing less frequently.

07. Salphron's Doom

Not as much as you would think.... He don't gain 1:1 on tissue to tissue on similar creatures.... and these are not similar creatures and he has to make tissue that is not the same as what he is eating and bone which he is not eating. So maybe 50~60% of the mass he is consuming gained if he's not doing much, not getting hurt, and taking time after consuming to rest and convert it.

He tries to reasearch why the mana crystals are replacing the magam ones. The magam ones are easier to use as they do not require the same skill and understanding due to the fact they are a living thing and conect to the user, making them much more useful as more people lack skills than have them.

He tests to see which element she is closest bound to, and offers to teach her. It's a lot slower to learn but draws on the elements themselves at first and later just on the casters on power, and don't need any other power sorce. (though magam, magum, mana and all the like could be drained as fuel he won't teach that right away as while she would learn faster it would make her weaker and dependent on them more)  He focuses on teaching just the one element she is attuned to.  He tries to go with one of the primary elements, but if she is attuned to something like lighting/ice/ect strongly enough he will teach that instead.

He also checks to see if there is any megafauna that could be used like the centipedes but for air/space travel.

He makes sure future farmland ares are set up with mineral and mana/magam deposits in mind too, so they are near where people would congratulate to set up towns. So towns will grow around the farmland area's as well and as the mineral deposits dry out people will move into the nearby farmland/forestry towns.

He would also send people out into the rest of the oner to investigate what is going on out there, what the rest of the univurse is like, and what might be this change was talked about he has caused just by being here. Having them scan for his energies that might have rippled through the univurse.. or energies his incustion caused and what affects that might have caused through out the univurse.

He grows to 5d20 % of his maximum size. What would that be?

His research reveals that the parasite is slowing magem, and magem seems to be distracted also.

Narfal learns her magics well.

The Dragons send an avatar to grow their relationship with Salphron. The avatar tells him about their solution to space access: a genetically modified egg which acts as a seed and grows photosynthetic carbon nanotube megastructures which reach orbital heights. OOC: As for air travel, do you have any ideas?

The towns and farmlands grow well.

He discovers that he was partially drawn into this Oner many years before finally entering fully. The mana crystals come from the universe he recently left, and have adapted to the magical energies of this universe. That seems to be the main difference (until the plot demands more)

07. Salphron's Doom

Well for both he was just thinking of large creatures with large bodies that could be used to construct undead vessels .... large insects would be the best due to there exoskeletons but anything big enough could work.

He thanks the dragons and will check the egg out, but is not looking for personal transport, is looking for ways for the planet to engage in it's own off world trade in mass and being limited to land travel ... is well limiting, even if that land travel can crawl over all sorts of surfaces.

He will look into the practicality of the planet wide field to kill off the parasite.

Also paritualy to help with the planet wide field... and partiatly to help prevent the interdiction of forien magic into a new universe on a wide scale, thinking what he knows of ecological balance and how easy it is to upset.......  he looks into containning the spread of the mana crystals....

To this measure he sends out people to gather the mana crystals into places where they are forming... teaching a few people how they can be combined, if anyone can learn it...didn't require much skill just kinda bringing the right sized crystals in the right number together and getting them to resonate.

He will try and find all the places crystals of various types are forming and gather them together to proper size. (about the size of a car) Where they can be used to draw all the mana that might form new crystals into them and then be drained for contenuous spell affects.

I know this will take a lot of resources and likely stop the growing of his finances and kingdom but he don't want a magical echological disaster on his hands. He just got to this univurse he don't want to ruin it.

If he has to he can let the dragons know and see if they can help.

As for what to do with them..... Well using up that power to keep it from building up will actualy make them usefull in the long run atelast ^.^  and there plently of uses.....

Air - well planet has a good atmosphere so could use them to set up a planet wide weather control network, to make sure the weather is always favorable.

Water - Add to the weather control and use for irrigation.... as well as the production of and selling of water to worlds with out water.... aswell as a few magical water purification plants.

Fire - Power production / combined with water and you got your steam punk  power and heating units...

earth - recreating natural resources in the planet and helping draw them up out of the core into the crust....

ice - there lots of uses for being able to cool things down, also you can just sell ice. =p

nature - make a logging site / farm around it.

mind - psyonic training grounds? mage towers with intelligence boosters to help people learn faster? Libraries that all the books are convereted into thought and can be 'read' by people with those ear pice things? IDK there is a lot that could be done with exstra mental energy.... there is a few things that can be done with everything but nothing EXSEPTIONLY usefull stands out..... there are a LOT of exspetionly useful things here

technology - don't see it showing up... but if it did could build a tech lab around it using the energy to make everything run better.

electricity - deffently power, or

acid - if for some reason forms on the planet some where could be used to create a plant for production of various chemicals used by more developed worlds

light - can't think of anything other than converting it into heat and using it like fire >.>

darkness - would actually just have this collected to use it all >.>

Chaos - while rare if it was around could build a shrine to chance and gambling around it just letting the chaotic energies lose around the area... lol XD  it would be a tourist attraction.... or he could just harvest the crystals and experiment with them... as things created using the crystals as a catalyst have........ um..... odd results, and who's to say anymore will form?

Order - while rare if there was enough they could use it to stabilize other sites making them run better...

Life - while rare if some how there was a place that enough formed could be a healing shrine.... though even tiny crystals could be used to make such shrines..

death - again while rare if enough formed could probably single handly power the planetary death ward.....  though even tiny crystals could help with the ward.

univursal - unlikely going to form... though one tinny itty bitty crystal might have formed when the inversion happened and he broke through the univursal barrier....  though this is the fundemental forces of the univurse.... there is no deffense aganst it, so if something like this formed it was likely destroyed by cosmic forces as a NOPE! =p  or snatched up by something like oooooo mine....

there might have been an element that mana formed into from the other univurse i'm missing but i can't think of anything right now......

But that should keep new crystals from forming once it's done...... he just has to put plenty of people on the job of watching over they crsytals making sure they are well guarded after that so none are stolen...

and put in deffences to protect them..... death wards even  (with plenty of warning you will be killed for trying to steal them.. .but not how)....

if people don't have a problem with souls being ripped out of bodies so long as they are set free.....  just have a problem with traping/eating souls and displacing souls by another soul poking into that body..... he will even have soul stealing wards on the crystals......  along with turn undead spells lol  and various traps to make sure machines can't touch them ether =p

generaly to make it so you have to spend hours unweaving magic to be able to move them .... or be willing to sacrifice a lot of lives and finances to do so....

>.>

while also carving DEEP into them tracking runes and death runes so only the undead can hold them and if they are stolen they can be tracked  XD

deffently going to be HYPER paranoid about it......  he knows how people can be.... ad if these are an ecological disaster waiting to happen he's going to do everything he can to keep them contained to this one planet to see what happens after a few decades / centuries first..... lots and lots of research.

Also...

yes....

Research.... he will have people get to work doing research on what affect the crystals are having on other magics.

Re: 07. Salphron's Doom

Ok, there is a gas giant planet which has some very large flying insects that live in the high pressure of the mid zones, and since once they're dead, they won't need to breathe, they'll work. He finds jumbo jet sized multi-winged long things with each segment sporting a set of wings, private jet sized Dragonfly like things, and living on the great space whales, he finds a few fleas. They'll need lots of magem to prevent their passengers from suffering the effects of sudden changes in inertia, or inertia dampening technology bought from the Comowe people or the starfish folk. With the decrease in the activity level of magem, technology is starting to work again.

-The structure that the egg/seed produces is essentially a space elevator track. It will help the inhabitants of the planet reach space as much as anything.

-It isn't practical to make a planet wide field to kill off the parasite. News has spread by now enough that it is being identified as Rulab, and Balur is named as well.

-Containning the spread of the mana crystals is impossible since they had already spread throughout the Onerverse before Salphron was fully brought in. They match element for element the elements of Magus, and are essentially elemental Magus mana. It makes magus more accessible to people, but it doesn't otherwise change the magics available.

-Since they work with magus, it's not just getting the right amounts together, though that works too. Creating gathering points does work (for now), and he can use that magus energy gained. But he won't create a magical ecological disaster. That's just not in the cards.

-To be clear, the magus mana cannot create mass, only manipulate existing matter and energy.

Air - make sure the weather is always favorable
- huge effort, but doable, so it works.

Water - Add to the weather control and use for irrigation.... as well as a few magical water purification plants.
- Works

Fire - Power production / combined with water and you got your steam punk  power and heating units...
-Works, but not as a source of water, just as a way to bring ambient water to the right location. So a water & fire mana set could be magically programmed to heat a small amount of water and redirect the steam produced to be reused.

earth
- helps them identify potential resources below the surface, search for specific ones, move them closer to the surface and detect structural integrity of mining shafts etc. Can't create matter. Alfheim doesn't have a core.

ice - there lots of uses for being able to cool things down, also you can just sell ice. =p - yup

nature - make a logging site / farm around it.
- takes a long time to grow trees, but yup

mind
- mind mana will grow well around research facilities and schools. So they'll utilize it as well.

technology
- since magem is slowed, it is showing up... Tech lab around it using the energy to make everything run better. Works

electricity
- not growing in the Onerverse

acid
- not growing in the Onerverse

light - can't think of anything other than converting it into heat and using it like fire >.>
- okay

darkness - would actually just have this collected to use it all >.>
-Okay

Chaos
- forms especially near gambling places

Order - while rare if there was enough they could use it to stabilize other sites making them run better...
-Okay

Life - while rare if some how there was a place that enough formed could be a healing shrine....
-Okay

death
- could help power the planetary death ward..... Not exceptionally rare, but it won't power the ward alone

univursal
- actually Omni magus mana forms, but is only accessible to Theophili & her apprentice

-Only and all elements in magus form mana crystals

-he collects & secures almost all of the crystals formed in his territories, but it is forming everywhere.

generaly to make it so you have to spend hours unweaving magic to be able to move them .... or be willing to sacrifice a lot of lives and finances to do so....
-Okay, that works

>.>

while also carving DEEP into them tracking runes and death runes so only the undead can hold them and if they are stolen they can be tracked  XD
- works

-it will take awhile to realize no major damage is being done by having these crystals other than the fact that it democratizes magus and changes the balance of power.

Also...

yes....

Research.... he will have people get to work doing research on what affect the crystals are having on other magics.
-not much

Re: 07. Salphron's Doom

((remembered physical and spirit mana))

((new mana types formed in that world actationly so you could always just have a few new types form here too))

He will abandon the ideas as soon as he finds they can't be contained.... but he will still make use of them to better the empire as for now until other people research them, he's the only person that knows how to use them properly.  He will teach people how to use them (not giving up all he knows though just the basics) to gain favor with various groups though, asking for little in rerturn.   (opening up trade, small favors, supplies they lack.... little comparied to how much it helps them, just to make him look good in this)

The more common elements though could be used everywhere... He saw the steam-punk level of this world and the fire/water elements could bring that power to a new level.

He would gather up some of most others for his own uses though, paticuarly the omni mana as it was usefull in crafting, and tended to gave artifacts quite the bost... the rose lost it's touch of that power and if it swallowed up a gem large enough it could gain it back.

He waits before using the egg/seed as it don't seam like something you can just pick up and use again, and he can use the time to study it.

While he teaches Narfal he asks to learn more about the magics of this world.

He also gathers items and mana for items

Sword of a grate hero (don't have to be magical)

A coin a gambler keep as a lucky charm his whole life

writings of a grate sage

a bone of a spiritualist (like a monk) who lived a long pius life

He gets some skulls from his necropalips of some necromancers of his univurse who didn't do the whole soul stealing life jumping BS

metal from a meteorite the struck a plantary body of water

Some alchemicaly purified electrium

The oldest pice of petrifed wood he can find

He uses some electrium, chaos, and order to create a charm of balance, he feeds to the robes

he used the meteorite metal and mana of the primary elements to create two necklases that combine the powers of the primary elements focusing there powers.... one he gives to Narfal to help her.... the other he holds onto

He uses the skull, petrified wood, death, and life crystals to create a necromatic staff for Narfal

he uses some more electrium... and combines it with light and darkness mana to create a new metal..... and then uses that metal to create a necklas he uses with life and death to make a necromatic neclkass

He uses the sword, the book, the old mans bones, physical, mental, and spirutal manas to .... yah....you guessed probaly... make another neclkass...

Then he's combining all the necklases together into one and feeding it to the robes to make them stronger.

Then he's taking the gamblers coin and combining all the chaos and order crystals he can hord into it.... and trying to make an minor luck artifact..... if he fails then it will still be powerful battery of mana he could sell off to some one or use for SOMETHING... *shrugs*

For all of this he's using all of:

World Forger [2/2]
knows how to make artifacts

Imagus [1/1]
Dar 0 Cle 0 Sha 1 Lig 0 Sol 0 Ref 0

Formagus [1/1]
Blo 0 Lif 0 Tec 0 Cos 0 Dea 1 Nat 0

Unimagus [1/1]
Dim 0 Ene 0 Cha 1 Tim 0 Voi 0 Ord 0

Verimagus [1/1]

Re: 07. Salphron's Doom

Regarding new elements outside of Magus, anytime someone gathers 2 or more crystals from 2 or more magus elements which somehow relate to something they are creating or working on, the crystals will fuse into a new element of that thing they were creating or working on. The more skill the person has, the more potent the crystal. In reality, the new element will actually be the two original elements, so there would be no point in gathering them to add to a magical artifact. I'm only allowing them, so that Crafters in a given field can use crystals that form in their workshops to aid them in the creation of their craft. These hybrid crystals can't be used to perform spells by anyone other than the one who was responsible for their creation. This way I don't have to keep track of as much. anyone other than the owner who tries to use them will find that they denature into their original elements.

By now he will have met with Anima, so let me know how well they get along.

There is no Omni Mana. The only omni Magus Mana that exists is only available to the practitioners of Omnimagus. At least for now.

The egg / seed is a genetically modified Dragon egg which has been modified to produce this plant like structure. The dragon Avatar who is present explains that all Dragon creations are made from dragon eggs, or occasionally birthed from the dragons. since dragons are able to self modify their own genetic code, they also modify the code of their offspring in order to produce whatever it is they desire.

Narfal will teach him the magus of this world, and arrange for any teachers necessary to teach whatever specific elements he desires to learn. Since there are 30 available elements, and since he is a unique species whom I assume has a very high intelligence, I will allow him to learn every element at least level two, 15 Can be level 3. Anything beyond that he will have to learn by experience. For simplicity sake we will consider this to be cliche: Omnimagus Polymagus {3/3}

oh yah he also gets some bones from a loyal guard pet from the village to put into the staff, to facilitate some hidden elements if Narfal should turn on him after her services end.  He's not the most trusting sort after all, he's been betrayed a LOT. So just some stuff in there should she ever try and use the staff agenst him.

Sword of a great hero -  deffently Oni  lol

A coin a gambler kept as a lucky charm his whole life - check the nexus? Don't know of any race that would be more pre-exposed to gambling than any othere unless Narfal did.

writings of a great sage - Libiraria if they will sell/trade books... he's got a libary of books from an oner compleatly cut of from others (granted many apre probably damaged considering his castle colapsed but... he's got plently and he could repair them with magic)

a bone of a spiritualist who lived a long pius life - will talk with Narfal about what kinda races would even be willing to trade such a thing, as most worlds he's been to most races hold high respect for the remains of there dead....... maybe the Leporidaens?

metal from a meteorite which struck a planetary body of water - The grolms would be a good planet to check... maybe he could get a good sized meteorite too... planets mostly water

Some alchemicaly purified electrium - Djunk seams like the place to go there.... bet there is a class A alchemist, particularly with the school system now.  (or what ever the elemental world is if thats not it that had the elemental races as the whole point is it's a metal that was rather violently baptized and infused with all the prime elements)

ancient petrifed wood - clearly best to try and get from the elves, there trees had a lot of life energy and life and death are tied hand in hand  (long as your doing his kind of necromancy and not the boop got your soul kind)

He will also offer up his survives to create minor artifacts and items of power to those who wish them... as he needs practice.... one of his goals was to be like the grate artifact smith, able to create such wonders as the Rose himself.

Speaking of the rose.... he has it rebuild his castle now that it strong enough to maintain it... and a few of the structures in town it had constructed.

Re: 07. Salphron's Doom

When he travels, is Salphron a big Dragon or does he have a human form he can shape shift to and from?

Sword & Coin
Septus Benseptus V (777 years old) was the luckiest swordsman in the Pirate District, and the wealthiest Oni in Nexus. He had 7 daughters and a large household. His oldest daughter was 707 years old, with descendants of her own. His youngest was 77, and had just given birth to her first child.

Septus was known as a gambler in his retirements, and was now on his 7th retirement. His family owned a casino and a security firm who provided law enforcement for a number of districts in Nexus.

Narfal had heard of his prowess with the sword and his luck at the casinos, so she arranged for Salphron to visit him. His mansion in the Pirate District was as long as a city block, and permanently housed 200 people (92 Oni family and servants). He had a landing pad and Portal room on the roof where he received Salphron.

"Greetings, Salphron, I am Septus. I was told you are seeking the sword of a great hero and a lucky coin. I have both of those items, and I know what they're worth. I also have a family to provide for when I'm gone. How can we help each other?"

OOC: Feel free to be creative with your offer

Writings of a great Sage
The Acquisitions department of Librarian was as big as the population of a small country. Quaternary Acquisitor Fran met with Salphron in a lounge-node of Libraria, "I hope you are enjoying your drink," she had just poured Salphron a glass of whatever drink he had named, "I have been given to understand that you have quite a supply of books from a universe unconnected to our own oner. I would be interested in examining any samples you may have brought along."

Although the Priests are the people most likely to quality, Narfal knows of a Wizard who deals in items like this. She sends Salphron to Nekell, a Humagus Wizard who lives in one of the Joedom worlds. The Joedom worlds are the worlds in the kingdom of King Joe under the Emperor Pontorna. King Joe and the Emperor have been locked away in a meeting in the castle for over 100 years, and the Council of Stewards is overseeing the day to day operations of the kingdom of over 100 billion people. The kingdom is rich Magus users and technologies. There are also fairly liberal laws and not to many restrictions for most people. Nekell owns his own city on one of the central worlds in the galaxy that most of the Joedom worlds are located in. He chooses to meet Salphron in his favorite restaurant.

"Welcome to my city, Salphron. I hear you are seeking some hard to find items, and that you are capable of creating magical items as well. Tell me more, and we'll see what we can do for each other."

Metal from meteorite that struck water
Ferlun is a wealthy Iron Troll from the Grolms. He meets with Salphron in his floating island. When Salphron arrives, he points to a display of over 500 meteorites ranging from golf-ball sized up to the size of a horse. "Make your selection, then we talk price. What can you pay with? We aren't taking Balur currency, so don't even offer them."

Electrium
Narfs sell this at the cost of the metals in the alloy plus a small fee.

Petrified wood
One kingdom of the Elfs has settled on an ancient planet from an ancient Oner. The Oner was discovered in the last 100 years of its habitable existence, and the oldest planets were taken into Oner Novelf for preservation. There is plenty of petrified wood, and even whole petrified Forests from root to tip. One of the Elf merchants asks, "What can we get for you, sir?"

Re: 07. Salphron's Doom

Human form

Sword & Coin
Oh this would be exspensive..... very very expensive... but worth it if he bought into it..... "good sir I am changing the face of Alfheim building an empire there, and I could use a man of your expertise there. One of the things we need is a security force to bring law to the lawless, and while I'm creating that force easily enough, I've yet to find some one with skill to lead it. Warriors and Gamblers have two things in common, a despise for stagnancy and I can guess this stagnancy is killing you. Give me these items, come train my men and if you want I'll not only bring you and your famely to Alfheim... I'll bring your whole mansion and all you own to live there on any plot of land you wish to live on that I own or can buy.  I'll take good care of your family and if you desire I can keep you bound to your body after you die for as long as you see fit to watch over them yourself, until you family are in a place that you are at peace with passing on."  He was gathering up mana crystals so he could afford to feed a bunch of them to the device to teleport the mansion.... it wasn't that big comparatively.

Writings of a great Sage
Provides a copy of a spiritual booklet of the origin of the universe. It speaks of the one and only god of there univurse and the elemental guardians of the realm fighting the darkness between realms as it consumed all things at the epicenter of disaster. It acutaly discribes the masive crater in the mountains of Salphons island of being the location of the final battle between the forces of god and the choatic oblivion that would consume all life. Salphon is mentioned as being the chosen of darkness in this battle, having many artifacts that where destroyed and consumed by encroaching oblivion. In the end the forces where fought off long enough for the univurse to be sealed away in it's own bubble. A masive dementional shield created to protect the uinvurse from the darkness consuming it. Then god destroyed the shatered remiains of the world save for the battle sight (as a monument to the battle and the hero's that fought in it) and rebuilt the univurse anew re-creating all life around his grand holy city. (it had a name besides the nexus but I forgot it) The book goes on rather like a bible telling how to praise the god, how he enjoys watching people fight in his areana, and revives those that die there. The many worlds he createated and how the portals conect them.... and dose a lot to discribe mostly the panthion of the gods, the chosen, and the world and myths about it.  Aprently the god was a little fickle and chosen just came down to who impressed him the most and was chosen in trainning where picked simple by beating another chosen in battle half the time. Oh and yes in the discriptions of the book salphron was a MASIVE dragon in the war.

"Yes in the last... oner, I came from I impressed a grate fordge-smith with my crafting experimentation. Though admittedly some of my progress just came from having an abundance of items I had no use for and that I could not sell and just crammed together exposing to massive quantities of chaotic magics. I think the fact that once I got overboard on this and instead of causing a massive disaster I managed to pull the energies together and simple end up with a living metamorphic fluid that consumed everything and could be controlled through the force of my magics. (a masive black pudding basically) In the end though he chose to teach me how to craft artifacts, powerfully items that are hard to destroy and grow in power with the user. I could atempt to craft one but I can not garentee success and I would need items to do so."

Metal from meteorite that struck water
How much he will take depends on the price, as it's usefull afterall. "Well currently we have surplus of various metals, wood, and food for trade. ((and what ever currancy people are trading in now i'm sure))"

Electrium
Pays for that then with out question.

Petrified wood
"I just am looking for a small amount of wood for some crafts, is there anything you would be willing to part with here?"

Re: 07. Salphron's Doom

He also offers to replace the sword and coin....

Can make a sword of metioric iron, give it a sheifs badge from Alfheim in the hilt, imbune it with order mana and the mana that most fits the guys elemental nature, and create a magical item for him.

And make a coin like the one he's planing to make just with tinny order/chaos crystals and minting a fresh new electrim coin as the base.  It of corse wouldn't be that powerfull compare to what he's trying to make and he won't put nearly as much force into it.... but it will still be a sutable lucky charm...

They won't replace the sentimental value but .... it could help.
