07. Salphron's Doom

"I was wondering if there is anything sentient living bellow or would his tomb falling cause any lasting damage to the ecosystem. In the previous world they had these odd cables that they used explosive force to cut things with, even cutting through thick metal supports to take down old buildings. While I do not think we could make anything like that, some magical runes linked together could reproduce the same result of a liner inward cutting force. The magic that protects his tomb should keep important chambers intact, if not the items of interest would survive enough for me to siphon off there power. While many of his army would be weaned if not eliminated by the fall."  Depending how strong the wood is the rose might be able to do it.... though doing so may exhaust it's strength for some time.

"Well, consider the fact that the planet's gravitational balance is affected by the growth of the root/trunk network, and it takes years for gigantic worms to process the deadwood. Consider that there are multiple sentient species - some fungoid which tend to thrive in areas of natural death and decay. Not that I have any objection to your plan, just be aware that those above would be as affected as those below due to the interconnectivity of the root/trunk network."

Constince offers to take him there via Portal if he wants to go.

OOC: It's a first mission for the PC. He's going to succeed, but I'd like him to work for it.

07. Salphron's Doom

With the similarities it's almost like Salphron's last world had magem in it.... it just didn't develop into living thing, let alone a sentient one, instead it just adapted to more types of energy. So it didn't replace there magic, just enhanced it.

Up to you really... it's doubtful every mana crystal was used up, particularly the parts in the equipment and magical devices, or the ones owned by the township they didn't offer up to help.

Before he leaves he places some roses around town to grow up the sides of buildings and plant themselves on the roofs giving some good views of the town so he will know if anything happens while he is gone.

He leads her to the portal that was moved and set up south of the town, it still has power though every location it knows to lock onto are beyond it's reach. "We have our own, though I'm not sure if our magics are similar enough to work with each-other." It was altered and redesigned to work with an SG-1 style iris... however it was made with the rose, and with the weakening of the rose all it's structures decayed away. He fixes this though restoring the crystal iris's... and sends out two mini rose guardians pets to skitter across the island to the other portals and plant themselves forming iris's on the other portals... the rose might not be as strong enough to block a portal forming anymore, but it can make it harder.

OOC: Are you saying it grew like Magem grows? Because if you are, then that is awesome, and will likely change a few things. Also, what sorts of magic did it enhance? What was the realm of action where magic occurred? Is magic a purely physical phenomenon in that world, directly explainable by nothing other than physical laws, or does magic require something beyond physical to work? How did the crystals enhance their magic?

IC:
Assuming the iris is open and there is a clear space on either side of the Portal ring structure. Constince takes out a fold-out portable Portal ring and expands it to fit in Salphron's Portal ring. She keys in the destination address on the keypad, and feeds it the proper number of Magem crystals. "We'll charge this to your account."

The spherical Portal opens, and she says, "Let's go!"

(it was a collection of mana and formed in places where mana was strong, could also be harvested from some monsters with a lot of mana but like i said there was a lot more kind of the mana crystsals ...  fire, water, air, earth, darkness, light, order/law, chaos/entropy, technology, acid, physical/force/kinetic,  and two more i can't think of...)

He sighs a little and will negotiate the price later not arguing, he has to respect a shrude business woman, and just following through.

And how does one detect when these crystals are starting to form? And how quickly do they spread?

Salphron dove into the Portal and had the twisting sensation followed by the odd passage through what seemed to be a perfectly smooth cylindrical mirror walled tube and out past another twisting sensation into a tree-hut platform over the tops of a jungle foliage. "We're on the surface. The temple is 3 miles down. You may use one of our Centipedal Climbers." She points to a few 10' long seated vehicles with about 100 legs along the sides. For navigation it had double joystick manual override controls and an autopilot. The autopilot was already set to take him to the tomb.

You can sense the mana in it but otherwise you can't detect it any special way... it grows as mana gathers .. usaly around sorces of mana... and it can spread around sorces or areas high in mana... or spread on other crystals or from them.  It's rare for them though to just spread in places that don't have a lot of mana.

Hums and takes the climber... if the woman don't come along after getting out of reach but before getting in reach of the tomb just turns into a shadow and blinds into the climbers shadow riding it down as not to be noticed.

Right. I like them so much, they've spread through Fayarillis and the Sideways and are now present throughout the Onerverse, long enough that they're starting to become harvestable in some places. They follow the 6 fields of Magus: Imagus, Kenimagus, Formagus, Verimagus, Unimagus and Omnimagus. They work best with people who are already skilled in that field, but they can act as conduits to perform spells that require elements you wouldn't normally be able to use. They will be rare finds, and any luck crystals nearby will virtually guarantee they don't get found. I'll introduce them slowly, but Salphron would notice them as being similar but different to what he remembers.

The Necromancer's tomb was a collection of ruined stone temples of a variety of cultural origins floating together in a certain shape. The collection of ruined temples almost seems to form the shape of a man sitting. There is one obvious entrance, though a number of windows. Just inside the entryway there is a Mummified Lion (2/2). It looks in Salphron's direction, "Greetings, fellow mage of death. I suggest you leave before I awaken my guardians."

"We share intentions then, join me and help me regain my lost strength and grow my kingdom.... if you wish to keep to yourself or away from the living I have better accommodations far from the light of the day or the living." He opens his hand holding it out, the rose growing from his armor up around his arm into the palm opening as dark waters and twisting shadow magics swirl up out of the rose forming into a (hopefully highly detailed) map of the necropolis.

04:01, Today: Salphron rolled 12 using 4d6 with rolls of 5,1,5,1.  Eons Old Battle King & Elder Shadow dragon [1/2].  (for diplomacy check type roll, if needed.)

Salphron feels a wave of energy pass over him, then after a moment of silence the lion says, "I felt oddly compelled to say yes, but first I have a few questions. Are the spirits of those in your necropolis spoken for, or may I consume them? Second - you don't come from this universe. I don't know what you are. What are you, and how do you gain power?"

Raises a brow at the wave of energy, and tries to tell where it came from so he can look into it later "The spirits of the necropolis are gone, and devouring souls is bad for relations with other nations so I'll have none of it. I'll regain my strength in time.... Just know that I am a precursor to the dragon race and right now it is my intent to regain my strength by feeding on the death energies here, and using the items you have created to help me. I understand this is not fair to you up front but I'm perfectly capable of just taking what I want, however in the long run this stands to benefit both of us. I'll have a capable follower, and while you will have some restrictions in what you can do, you will have better resources and facilities and as long as you follow the restrictions you can hide away in the facilities with out having to worry about necrohunters pestering you constantly."  Is aware he only sorta half answered the questions and avoided others..... information is power. But saying your something dragons came from can scare people, and fear is also a kind of power.

07. Salphron's Doom

Salphron notices that the energy he felt was some sort of scan in the spirit realm - as if the spirit of the necromancer reached out to feel the surface of Salphron's spirit.

Mumified Lion (1/2) says, "How DARE you! Threatening me at my own tomb, and declaring your intentions to steal from me! If you are capable of taking what you want, then COME AT ME! I hope you have an army with you, because I want this fight to be enough of a challenge to make it worthwhile for me to take a body and finish you off myself. If you had offered me spirits to consume and if you hadn't threatened to take my artifacts, I would've taken you up on your offer. But I can't accept your conditions. I will take great pleasure in consuming your soul."

Salphron feels another wave of energy and senses that dead things within the tomb are beginning to move around.

There are dead things around outside of the tomb. 5 Vungtra, 3 of the monkey things, 10 skeletons of fallen Necrohunters, and a giant 30' long python.

He throws a rose at the top of the tomb "I thought it was clear enough I could state that fact with out it seaming as a threat, I suppose years of constant attacks would make ones nerves frayed a bit." The rose grows down over the tomb thick vines tangling up over it forming throned and burning barriers over the openings.   The Rose [2/2]

"But put words in my mouth... If you would rather fight than talk than it is sounding like you lied about what you wanted, simple survival is not good enough for you... or perhaps you hide another nature... a beast that will starve with out souls? If that is the case can you survive on the souls of simple beasts?"

He readies his weapon the darkstar blade forming in his hand... at first the blade looks like a hole cut into reality opening up into the vastness of space... but when his hands take the hilt it quickly draws in all the darkness in nearly the sounding acre or more into it and the blade goes dark, a total absence of light like a black hole in the shape of a swords blade, even if the blades massive reserve of darkness mana was drained it was still an intemidating sight.

03:22, Today: Salphron rolled 6 using 2d6 with rolls of 5,1.  Darkstar Blade (0/1).  (unconventional roll - roll to intimidate)

Lets see how he feels about seeing two REAL artifacts... one sealing his tomb and the other .... well just showing off.

(if you don't like taking two actions then the guardian can climb onto the tomb and then activate the roses power .... just figured tossing a rose was cooler =p)

OOC: Tossing the rose is cool enough that I'll allow it. Best roll for Lion is 6, so auto win of the round for Salphron

The flames of the burning rose lick the dry mummified lion and it bursts into flames. Speaking calmly it says, "I'm betting that you know little of the nature of the spiritual realm here. We'll see who takes whom as spoils of war." Then the body falls limp off the edge of the ledge to the depths of the wooden web below.

Dead things move around inside the tomb.

OOC: To be intimidated would take a little more work. The lion was just the welcome mat. The Necromancer is [5/20], so he's not intimidated yet, but you could get him there.

IC:
02:44, Today: Narrator, for the NPC Necromancer, rolled 9 using 5d6 with rolls of 1,3,1,1,3.

The lion who was trapped by the rose vines, is replaced by an undead anaconda. The Necromancer mockingly speaks through it, "I'm long and sssscary!"

OOC:
Regarding the spiritual stats, I'd rather see how Salphron uses magic from his native realm, and apply the same principle here as with Bozon's magic, hybridizing his understanding with the way this Oner works. It'll be a discovery process for both of us.

07. Salphron's Doom

(Going to try something odd here then....)

"I see that, impressive recovery time even for a prepared vessel. I see you are more like myself than I had thought." He burns World Forger [1/1] -> [0/1] to create a soul trap from a darkness mana crystal and some metal that slowly wraps around it forming runes. While the rose stops burning and grows dark pulsing with dark energy as the vines shift and move over and around the tomb forming anarchic patterns... They make a cage, one that serves as a rune covered antenna/really/focusing array (giving an equipment bonus). "While I have learned to live in balance with life and death, and it may be slower it is safer for oneself and those around them.... But I have not forgotten the ways of those less patient than myself nor do I avoid learning from them."  He finishes crafting a soul gem and part of the rose lashes out and grabs onto it finishing the trap he's made.

Undying Inter-dimensional Litch King [3/3] bumped to 5/3  +  what ever equipment bonus  from the rose.... drain the necromancers soul (or least start doing so) into the soul gem.

As far as the equipment bonus while the rose can quickly form vines and plant like growths it can form crystal formations of any shape and a size dependent on how strong it is (quite a bit mind you it was making a castle with ease) it is forming a crystal array to help channel his powers...and to surround the necromancer giving him no where to go.

Like I said not sure if it will work but only way I can think to out power a 5

02:10, Today: Narrator, on behalf of Salphron, rolled 35 using 10d6 with rolls of 6,4,5,5,2,1,1,4,5,2.  soul trap & attack.

02:09, Today: Narrator, for the NPC Necromancer, rolled 17 using 5d6 with rolls of 2,3,4,2,6.

OOC: I've decided all pumped rolls should always cause double damage. Also, whenever a roll is twice or more of the opponent's roll, I've decided to apply double damage. So Necromancer loses 2 from the pump, and an extra 2 for the sum total of the roll. 6d6 from the double pumped Litch King, 2d6 from World Forger, and 2d6 from the rose.

The Necromancer [1/20] is now trapped within his own tomb. "Wait! I relent! You've proven your strength. Leave me alone, and I will give you my artifacts."

07. Salphron's Doom

(that makes pumping awfull scary o.o)

He sighs "You have shown me how you think... can I trust that you will leave me alone?  Don't worry you will survive, even if you need to feed on souls to hold yourself together, this prison will keep you intact on it's own." He finished the incantation to draw the necromancers soul out into the gem.

If that works he uses his necromancy to take control over the undead creatures in the tomb and call them up to the entrance, removing the rose-cage if he controls them all.

And again another if.... he will craft together the best ones, into a humanoid flesh golem to house the soul gem. His plans to create an undead golem to house the necromancers soul that is only able to follow his comands... able to speak freely (save casting spells)... but otherwise a slave body incapable of acting outside it's comands, unable to harm it's master at all... and unable to harm anyone else unless it's told to. A body that will disitigrate should he some how use liberties to try and undo the bonds that control his actions (or get some one else to)

A VERY VERY VERY VERY short leash to keep the necromancer on.

He can add additional procotions later (like if the soul gem is shattered it will collapse into a portal that will tier his soul away some where quite unpleasant lol)

Should ALL THIS work out..... lol..... he animates it and greets his creation with a... "Good morning... I need you to guide me through you traps."

(lol hope thats not to much 'and if that works' ^.^;;;)

07. Salphron's Doom

A pale Leprechaun dressed in tie-dyed business suit, whacks the soul gem with a stick topped with a giant rat's skull and strangely, a fairly large collection of gemstones that looks like the mana-stones of his home universe, but many somehow different. The Soul Gem beeps and flashes red once.

22:46, Today: Narrator, for the NPC Necromancer, rolled 3 using 1d6 with rolls of 3.  Necromancer [1/40] resist control.
22:45, Today: Narrator, on behalf of Salphron, rolled 5 using 2d6 with rolls of 1,4.  World Forger & Necromancy/Spirit.

Salphron just barely manages to succeed, but he does succeed. Not on a scale, but just as aimed for as if it were pass or fail in this instance.  OOC: please see your CS

As soon as the flesh golem is completed, the Soul Gem beeps and blinks green light. Tendrils shoot out from the Soul Gem, and the whole Golem shrinks down into a little metal ball with the Soul Gem. When the Gem is tapped by anyone or anything else, unless by Salphron's will, it does nothing. But if by his will it is tapped, it opens up and the Necromancer in a Flesh Golem comes out, ready to do his will. It can be used as if a lvl 40 creature, but will use up its life as it is used up in battle or in double pumped spell casting. When it reaches 0, the Soul Gem will implode. What exactly that will mean, Salphron is uncertain.

After Salphron deploys the WoodWideWeb Necromancer AKA WWW Nec [40/0], it obediently leads the way through the traps in the tomb, walking aimlessly until given a destination.

Once told to reveal the location of the artifacts, it fights internally vehemently against Salphron's will, but ultimately obeys.

All told, there are 2 Undead 30' Anacondas (15/0); 39 Shadowmen (10/0); 13 Skeletal mages [5/0]; 85 Zombie Vungtra (3/0); and a Loyal Zombie Cult (661/0)

He obtains 5 Booby-trapped chests that will require living sacrifices to open, and an undidentified Fire Mana Gem ((naming scheme finished - waiting on revelation of the nature of the mana stone when it is first used & identified to reveal the name)) in the shape of a rose.

There is one final object he points out - a scepter he calls a Bloodstone Staff [1/0]. It has the skull of a horse-sized Dragon on top, with a strange reddish stone ((Magustone)) for one tooth, and a hollow spike on the bottom of the staff. The inscription on the side, according to the WWW Nec reads, "The blood of my enemies empowers me." He says that it has limited power to aid spells, but is re-powered by stabbing it in fallen victims. It absorbs blood from those who died violently to produce powerful spells.

EDIT: He says the tomb is held aloft by a few Magus created Portal projectors ((like Aquatorus if you remember that)). They are embedded in the central stone Orb in the Temple, and in 3 identical Orbs placed in strategic places around the WWW planet.

He raises a brow at the Leprechauns appearance and help but don't question it, as it leaves before he really could anyway. (I take it). The augments to the gem where interesting, he would defiantly have to study them later. It seams he had sparked the interest of some one else with grate power, which could be quite helpful and dangerous.

"My intent was for a body I could repair, however due to some interference you are much more powerful, but I have no way of restoring your form, power, or moving it to another body... once you are exhausted your fate is quite unserten, but dose not look to be a fair one. I shall endeavor to keep you from combat if at all possible." When given the tour. "What sort of sacrifices do the chests require and what is inside them? If there is a portal in the tomb where dose it lead?"

He finds the rose rather peculiar as it resembles when some one tried to make a replica of his own, and he examines it to try and figure out what it is. "And what is this and where did you get it?"
