0D. Kantoku's Return

Nothing from the fossils, but the box had a wrapping around it where the address label had been, and the pressure from the writing made an impression on the box which reveals the following instructions: "Delivery by air at specified time or through Portal at other specified windows only. Delivery outside of these means will be automatically destroyed, and product considered undelivered by the customer."

Due to the Portal registration process that Anima went through, Kantoku knows through the hive-mind that the Portal address and physical location of any Portal registered in Nexus can be tracked at the local Portal Creators' Guild. Any Portal entering into or traveling through Nexus is required to be registered on threat of Guild Police action.

0D. Kantoku's Return

As a member of the Portal Creators' Guild through Aflae, he is given access to all files and devices. First he finds the Portal address of the Portal on Agarator's island along with a note that the Portal is death-gate protected (any unauthorized entrants are killed or destroyed), then uses the Portal Finder device, which locates the physical location of a Portal using its Portal address.

The floating island is located a couple hundred light-years away from Pskaena in an uncharted area of that galaxy.

When is the next window for the delivery, or how long would it take him to get there using his fastest travel method.

0D. Kantoku's Return

Since Kantoku is at the Portal Creator's guild, he could theoretically commission a Portal to be created and go directly there (or nearby), not knowing what he'd find when he went through the Portal. He could also join Aflae and Azraile by going to Auraluna and then to the Comowe ship via their Portal there, then take the whole crew to the place. Kantoku can learn through the Hive Mind and Aflae's experiences in the Sideways that Agarator just recently left the presence of King Joe, so it is likely that he will have returned to his floating island from there.

As for delivery windows, the impression of the words written on the box don't include that information, so he doesn't know.

Well if they are likely heading there anyway, and it would take a while to get there besides just joinning them, would probably be best to quarentine himself and be cleansed again to protect his gearbox till a solution is found..... he's already damaged from the events on Gamma.

Okay, Kantoku will be cleansed and quarantined until this is over.

What would Kantoku do if Aflae disappeared and he couldn't contact her, but could still contact Stella, Estella and Star Lady?

0D. Kantoku's Return

Suddenly his connection to Aflae seems to freeze. She's still there, but distant and too slow to even communicate with.

For the first ten years, Kantoku looks for Aflae. He travels to the location she was last seen at, and follows her path. He tries to enter into the red star to the home of King Joe, but the entire star seems to be in a temporal-spacial lock, and nothing can enter or leave.

He eventually finds Agarator's island, but the Portal is connected to the locked area and is itself seemingly impenetrable.

Anyone who tries to open a Portal to inside the zone, time-freezes or fails. This fact is used by a number of people who don't want to live as they are, but don't want to die either.

For the next 90 years, Kantoku runs the company and keeps a crew actively searching for a way to retrieve Aflae.

After the 100th year, he disbands the search party and leaves the company in the hands of others, and goes off to do his own thing.

50 years later, Aflae finally notices that something is different.

OOC: Let me know what he does in each time period, be as detailed as you like

Split into a new timeline universe. Those within will migrate over to a new game, likely. However the Gatherer could bring anyone who wanted to return to the regular timeline back to it. The gatherer won't just bring the people who want to return, but will bring back the players characters for the players who want to have their characters return. So if Aflae wants to return, too bad. But if you want Aflae to return, then she returns.

Kantoku would have known where Aflae had gone and would have found the star....So he could have dedicated some finances to trying to brake the time spell on the star couldn't he?

Yeah, he could do that, but whatever happens inside the bubble will still happen.

He would find that the type of spell at work was easy to break from the inside for someone highly skilled in time & space magus, but nearly impossible from outside.

0D. Kantoku's Return

The reason there is no way in or out is so that Pontorna & Joe can be kept away from their kingdom for at least 150 years, Rulab can be a friendly (at the 150 year mark), Balur can be... (Spoilers), and so Salphron can have that much time before there is any danger of him meeting any other PC.

Before the 150 year mark, everyone whose life relies on Balur is suffering or dying. All Balur technologies are suffering as well, but being converted to Magus and science technologies. By the 50 year mark, all wards used to stop or slow Rulab fail, and Balur Portals have to be kept microscopic and only opened when needed. By the 100 year mark, Portals that still rely on Balur and haven't been converted to Magus or Technology begin to fail. By the 140 year mark, all Balur technologies fail.

0D. Kantoku's Return

So even two plains of glass with good blood seals in between thing desined to keep rulab out won't?  What if they pay some one to use time magic to stop time in the containment units? Then it wouldn't matter if they coudln't contain anything or not.

As for the people dying the company will keep doing it's part to smooth the transition and help people recover from Balur, while taking advantage of the fact the comoway nexus started using magus portals. Maybe if the oner 0 nexus is slow to convert Anima's nexus can become the primaryly used one now.

Once it becomes evident this problem isn't easly solable or going away, they will offer conversions to all tree-ships as it's fairly easy to do and wouldn't cost much, and they don't want people becoming standaded out in space.

The dyson sphere will be started up again once it's purged of Balur so it can finsh growing over the nest 150 years.

Once the mana stones start showing up Anima will reseach them ofcorse.

I guess Stella land will have to be evacuated of anyone that can be evacuated from it and eventually seals will have to be placed around the anchor to keep Rulab from it and then it will need to be frozen in time to keep the seals intact.

The company will keep looking for new ways to make money and stay afloat.....

it deffently won't offer refunds because the ways it sold to contain Balur started failing after 50 years XD But it will offer the name of some time mages to seal the vaults they built in time.

Anima will probaly mostly focus on sciences being they already where working on it and have good relations and trade with science based civilizations.

So they will work on developing sciences of there own, and facilitating trade of technologies to oner 0

The Gearfs and Narfs school will for now focus Narf classes on the sciences they are good at.   While taking some Narfs asside to assess how good Narfs are at Magus. If Narfs have the same nack at Magus as they do balur then the school can refocus on teaching narfs magus and looking for ways magus and technology can work together....

Ether way they will keep teaching narfs chemistry, biology, and the like maybe they will get some doctors too.

The school will be introducing much more advanced technology though as it's starting to work again. The sort of things coming out of it has always been good...not just for Anima but for the univurse as a whole.

Anima will also look into setting up similar schools (if they can afford it, wich at this point i'm not 100% sure they are making a profit anymore?  but if they are) on other worlds of other races in oner 0 to teach onwer-comway science and technologies

otherwise if they can't aford it... they will just open up the gearf/narf school to anyone that wants to go (but other races have to pay a fee, as it's explained this is a school dedicated to the parthnership and friendship between gearfs and narfs and the future of cohabitation and bla bla bla ect ect this is to help end the war and it's working so don't complain they get a free ride and you dont =p  )

0D. Kantoku's Return

Time stop/extreme slow will work to prevent contamination of a contained object.

In year 7, someone proposes that Nexus be placed inside a Portal bubble and moved to a zone inside Auraluna - Anima's Nexus. In year 70, someone creates a massive technology-based city-block sized 2D entrance portal in Nexus that connects directly to Auraluna, and allows unlimited energy-free passive transport between the two. The two amalgamate under Auraluna, with the individual districts of Old Nexus keeping their autonomy.

Tree-Ship Conversions are made and put a bit of a strain on the company's coffers, but the action is rewarded by customer loyalty and respect.

By the end of the 150 years, the metal/life-tree-based Dysonsphere is completed.

Anima's research into mana stones shows they are based on magus elements and enable access to those elements for anyone not otherwise able to use those elements, and also that they can be used up like magus-stone, though they aren't was potent as magus-stone.

Stella-land is safely and successfully sealed away from time for the time being.

The company experiences a few years of financial stress, but remains intact and affairs with the times.

The time mages appreciate the business, and some are hired directly by Anima.

Anima is able to keep in step with the technology of the Comowe people due to their trade relations. This is post-scarcity level tech, but not yet up to The Culture series level. Which sciences will Anima focus on developing?

Gearfs and Narfs both excel in the same kinds of Magus as Dwarfs since they are both descended from Dwarfs, with the addition of appropriate fields and elements. Dwarfs send their children to the schools also. By the end of the 150 years, the wars of Djunk are ended. Their only remnant is the culture of Warriors engaging in voluntary non-lethal battles for the ownership of voluntarily wagered items. Additionally, territories can be expanded only into unclaimed areas, and claim disputes can be judged by a non-lethal battle between 2 Champions if both parties agree, or by being given to the party with fewer resources.

Company funds allow, so new schools are opened.

Well they have various departments now... just let them focus what they are good at.

Sure ducky would love to get some new medical sciences...

The people working on Balur production can switch to researching how mana crystals form and see if there is a way to harness them. (wich if they work the same in this world there should be with spells gathering the magical energies into a base/seed crystal to make it grow faster than it normaly would)

I haven't worked out all the details of how the new Mana crystals will work. So I suggest that you experiment with them. Also, tell me why the magic worked the way that it did in the other universe, so that I can decide if it will work the same way in this one.

I can see a purpose for having Mana Crystal gathering spells, so I think I will allow that. However it will have to work over a period of time, so that you can't just recharge your Mana in the middle of a battle.

Yah they did work over time and required crystals of a size bigger than you would have on your equipment anyway.

They where crystalizations of magical energy that formed around sorces of an element or places where elements of that type was intence. They where mostly used in crafting and imbusned there elemental properties into items when used in making them.... when used like that the item didn't use them up but just chaneled power through them....  they could also be used as a battery and used up though.

So they where just basicaly used in two magor ways like a lense to alter the way energies worked or create affects.... this didn't use them up so long as they had another power sorce feeding them  (this could be the user's own power or tech power)

Or as an energy sorce of that energy... this used them up making them shrink away as the power was drained from them....  unlike balur there size was derectly related to there power and they couldn't be used to form 'empty' uncharged crystals..... the crystal gains charge it grows, it loses charge it shrinks....   there was a way to alter crystals so they became like the balur crystals though and could hold more charge than they normaly would with out shrinking or growing  but if you drained them bellow a set amount it would damage them as they started to brake down and shrink.... and if you gave them to much energy it would damage them as they started to fragement off chucks of new crystal growth..... but this way you could create a battery ... you just have to regulate it or you would end up haveing to repair it.

the crystals would usaly grow around crystals that had already fromed why you could seed them.... and evechaly use the gathering spells on a larger seed crystal.

which is why salphron figured some pilons like that could stop the spread.
