0D. Kantoku's Return

Recap:
Anima's exploration division rediscovered Gamma, ((Correct me if I'm wrong)) but simultaneously received a warning from an unknown source that the crew who had just landed there would need rescuing. Star Lady sent a contingent of 3 chosen for their expertise, Uziel, Kuruno and Kantoku - a member of the Anima hive mind that included Aflae, Star Lady, Estella and himself.

They joined up with the crew who had returned to base and landed on Gamma near the earlier crew's landing site. They soon discovered that the entire planet was infested with a mindless Magem eating organism that begins life in a microscopic form and grows - seemingly without end as it mindlessly consumes Magem.

Unbeknownst to the group, Lugosi - a very smart human - had been wandering off to collect powerful Magus artifacts. One of his artifacts was a Jumper Bracelet that Kantoku wouldn't recognize but which would have given the entire crew the escape they needed if they had only been aware of its abilities.

The last survivor of Gamma - a man who had become completely Magem - sacrificed himself to kill the infestation of Magem-eaters. It didn't work. So while he was a ghost, he gained power by consuming the spirits of everyone he could find. Eventually he became powerful enough to challenge and consume the spirit of the planet itself, thus becoming Gamma.

As Gamma he created a curse to tear the minds of his enemies to shreds. But instead of dying, they simply became mindless Magem-eating machines.

Seeing that the people of this crew were spiritually powerful, he pulled them into a spirit-realm and tried to convince them to sacrifice themselves and fuel his power enough to overcome the now mindless Magem-eaters. They refused.

These are the people present at this time
-Lugosi who appears as a majestic wizard wielding an arsenal of power and cunning.
-Scott, a 40ft tall one eyed cyclops with powerful limbs and laser vision, wielding a trident and wearing only a loin cloth.
-Mal, 90 feet tall with 6 powerful arms (no legs) and giant wings made of water.
-Jazz, like Mal, but covered in spike Armour and weilding 70 foot long weapon arrays. The kind you'd expect to see on a battle spaceship.
-Uziel, a grand warrior of Void
-Kuruno, an extremely powerful cyborg alien with a brain the size of a planet

Mal stepped forward. It seems she is about to offer herself.

Kantoku said, "No, you're more a monster than they are. They likely didn't know they were consuming sentient life forms, and with you devouring their minds they never will have the chance. Come on let's return to our bodies... this situation is worse than I thought, maybe we can turn the teleportation devices into void marble devices and at least save other people from this monster..."

Gamma laughs, "You can't leave unless I let you leave."

Mal says, "Gamma, you are a human who has gained more power than you were made to have. That power has clouded your reason. How can destroying minds stop the Magem-eaters?"

Gamma says, "They are called Rulabs. I learned their names from their minds before I took their minds. I ... um..."

Lugosi pipes up, "If you are Gamma, then you are the one who killed our crew-mate with lightning, are you not?"

"I killed her."

Scott, Mal and Jazz all gasp.

Lugosi continues, "Why don't you use your power to kill them directly?"

Gamma remains silent.

Kuruno suddenly pipes up, "Yeah! The Rulabs are vulnerable at the joint between their lead head and their other segments. Presumably this pattern is the same regardless of their size. They are invulnerable to Magem related attacks but are vulnerable to kinetic attacks. If you lured them all to one location and bathed them in intense fire, wouldn't that kill them all?"

Gamma smiles evilly, "You are right!"

The entire crew finds themselves back on the floor of the chamber below the bubble.

0D. Kantoku's Return

In a fit of rage, Scott opens fire on the giant Magem crystal above him as he yells, "YOU SICK SUNNOFASOITH, THIS IS FOR LA PAZ! WHY DON'T YOU JUST FRAKIN DIE ALREADY, GAMMA?!". As chunks of the crystal fly off, the crystal begins rapidly increasing in size faster than the giant worm can consume it. It ignores Scott, and the extra chunks, continuing to feed off of the main crystal. Jazz puts her hand on Scott's shoulder, and Scott melts into tears.

Lugosi bows to Kantoku, and says, "Yeah... good luck with that." And he disappears. Uziel stares at the space where Lugosi was with deep thought.

Scott futilely shouts, "Traitor!" at the space where Lugosi stood a few moments ago.

The whole crew begins exiting as fast as they can.

Uziel ((who would honestly be alot further advanced in his magus abilities than the player was - I should've given him a higher starting stat due to his age)) says, "There is a massive buildup of void, dimension and time energies in the satellites above. We'll be teleporting any moment now."

Kurono says, "OhfrakfrakfrakfrakFRAK!!! We've got a massive buildup of Magem energy right over our heads, and I just gave Gamma the idea to lure the Rulabs here and kill them all with heat - and we're standing in a massive volcano."

Just then there is an earthquake, and massive shards of obsidian begin falling on the giant Rulab above them. It squeals with a sound like cold steel jaws crushing scrap metal as the first shard severs its head. Shard of obsidian after shard falls on it in just the right way to sever each new head, until the entire behemoth beast is reduced to only 5 orbs in length. Now that it is no longer feeding on the giant Magem crystal, its growth exponentially accelerates.

01:13, Today: Narrator, on behalf of Kantoku, rolled 18 using 5d6 with rolls of 1,2,4,5,6.  Scan the satellites
Kantoku's passive scanning reveals that all of the Rulabs are leaving the satellites as well as their bodies, and flying straight for the massive rapidly expanding crystal.

The party just makes it out of the chamber before the crystal fills the entire chamber that he giant worm had been in, and it continues expanding behind them (though more slowly).

0D. Kantoku's Return

On there way out "Has anyone got any ideas?  Because right now I'm still stuck with the only idea we can pull off in time is you guys trying to get to the ship, and hope it's healed enough to take off... and I try and make it to the Satellites before they teleport us, and Kurono uses the waren's relay or the ships coms to tell me how to reprogram them to marble the planet." The last thing he planed to do was just fly off and leave everyone behind. (He would only do that if it was 100% clear there was no saving anyone)

0D. Kantoku's Return

Suddenly a starship appears just beyond the satellites. Uziel hears in his mind, This is Padishah General Hoyt of the Ildeerian kingdom. We have prepared the Ragnarok protocol as advised. Is this an extraction or sterilization only?

The call of the void echoes in Uziel's soul as part of him longs for the silent sleep of death. Nevertheless he says, "Kantoku, everyone, I've found a way out. We're being extracted." He thinks back at Gen Hoyt, Extract us now!

A light shines on each one of them from the ship through the solid opaque ceiling of the corridor they're in and the whole group suddenly finds themselves onboard the starship in an observation bubble. Just then the volcano below erupts, spewing ash and lava over the Rulabs. A millisecond later, every visible star in the sky and more suddenly appears to go supernova, and planet sized laser precise beams of gamma radiation from every one of those stars focuses on the planet below, which becomes white hot almost immediately. Everyone hears the anguished voice of Gamma screaming in their heads as the entire planet ruptures and explodes. Before the explosion reaches them, the planet and it's satellites all disappear inside it's teleportation bubble, which shrinks away to nothing in the next millisecond.

A man dressed in an unusual star themed uniform addresses them, "I'm Padishah General Hoyt of the Ildeerian kingdom. We received Uziel's message and attempted to sterilize the planet with star fuelled gamma lasers, but the planet seems to have disappeared. Can anyone explain what happened?"

After that, "Where, when and in which Oner can we drop you folks off?"

0D. Kantoku's Return

General Hoyt responds, "You're in a dying universe with no lifeforms remaining. Everyone abandoned this Oner thousands of years ago. We caused the supernovae as part of the Ragnarok protocol. As for decontamination..."

General Hoyt has the staff from sickbay standing by. One of them scans the group with an electronic device and an image of one of the microscopic Rulabs appears on the screen with a list of properties below the image, as well as an image of Balur with an accompanying list. Seeing that Kantoku is 100% Balur, they assume the Rulab is the pest and 40 of them surround the group and begin chanting. After 40 minutes of chanting, they all stop at the same moment. The group is scanned again, and the tech announces, "All clear!"

Kuruno is fascinated by the advanced electronic equipment all around them, and follows one of the techs, chatting about the possibility of joining the crew. He's had enough of Balur and Rulab both.

General Hoyt asks, "So where & when & what Oner can we drop you folks off?"

"Where you able to contain a sample of the organism?" He displayed or if able to interact with the tech, sent the data, of the stellar chartography for his home owner. "I am not sure what you would call it by I have a map of the space around the Nexus... you could drop me off there.......... or you could send me to the Comowe's universe on Auraluna." he sends that information too.

Doubble burns Analytic Spy to do a broad range scan of the universe to check the for sings of Balur in the univurse.... Figuring if Aflae has linked the dying of onwer 0 to Balur she would want to know if other univurses would be drying too.

0D. Kantoku's Return

Someone hands Kantoku a glass box with a Magem crystal inside and explains, "This box is highly durable. It's made from Magus-enhanced glass and the spells are designed to keep anything inside fully contained. The crystal in there can't grow any more, but it will act as a food supply for the pests inside & keep it alive. Eventually that pest will grow to be about 1" long, at which point the pest and crystal will reach equilibrium. By the way, what are these things?"

No need to burn Spy. The only Balur in this Oner is what is left behind by this group. This Oner is otherwise unaffected by Balur altogether. It's about to die by a big rip ((like our universe will eventually do according to current physics theories)).

The map of the space around Nexus is given to a tech who inputs the data into a terminal and announces, "Year 130,000ish, on the planet N3X-U5, sir."

General Hoyt commands, "Navigation, please take us to orbit at those coordinates."

A group of 7 people all wearing a golden band around their heads gather together in a circle and begin chanting in unison. After a few moments, the view outside the observation bubble changes to Nexus from orbit.

Uziel says, "I was never sure you guys even existed, but wow! That was impressive."

General Hoyt says, "You are prepared to join the crew?"

Uziel replies, "I knew the consequences of calling on you when I called. I'm under your command, sir."

"Good to hear, soldier. Report to basic."

Uziel leaves the room.

Just then an image of Gamma exploding appears filling the sky, it seems to be everywhere at once and visible in every direction. As quickly as it appears, it is gone.

"Huh... so the planet exploded mid-teleport as it was entering one of the Oners connected to this one at this time. That's significantly unlikely... Anyway, we can send you to the surface of that city if you like, or anywhere else really."

The remaining others all name the Portal closest to Anima's Nexus and one of the Navigation team members places a hand on their shoulder and one by one they disappear from the starship, leaving the Navigation crew behind.

((Since Kantoku is in charge, he could have told them where to go, so if he does, that's where they go instead.))

EDIT: Oh yes, Kantoku has rejoined the Hive-mind.

This is Balur and a balur eating life form."

To the others. "We didn't find what we where looking for.... but we found something that may be more useful in the end, and Uziel signaling these guys saved who knows how many people from a mind eating crazy man.... so you more than deserve your pay, and extra hazard pay. I'll lead you to where you need to go..... It's a shame we lost all the data from the emergency warden though, all considered though we where lucky to get out of there at all...Lugosi is defiantly not getting payed."

OOC: That sounds like a reference and an inside joke, but I'm missing it. Did Aflae steal something from her past or future self at some point? Was it the Jumper Bracelets in the wall safe we're talking about?

General Hoyt said, "Yes. The Ildeerian Empire was set up outside of the timeline of Oner 0, and cooperating with a nation of Wizards, we specialized in manipulation of time and space. We left psychic recorders in every Oner any Elf from Oner 0 in heritage would ever populate - at each Oner's big bang event so that the very fabric of space could be used to communicate a message to the Empire. We then programmed intuitive knowledge of a list of special requests and their consequences into the very first Elfs' genetic code, and ensured the list would remain through to the very last Elf of Oner 0 heritage ever alive. In times of extreme need, the appropriate request will rise to the surface of an Elf's mind and the Elf will feel compelled to make their request."

SFA, except that since they were all Elfs, they might check with any of their Elf contacts - especially those with extensive historical knowledge who may have lived extremely long times as the royals of Elfen societies.

OOC: This entire conversation is happening before Kantoku arrives on the surface, while he is still onboard the ship. It's being ret-conned to that point in his personal history.

quote:
Time travelers? If you know Aflae tell her to her past self said she better not make a habit from stealing from her, and if she's going to do that she should pay her back in advance.

The mage who  handed Kantoku the cage says, "Oh, you're that Aflae/Aflan/whatever else repeating accidental time traveler. Yeah, they weren't her future or past selves directly, maybe its just your dialect and I misunderstood you, but each person who came before Aflae was created from a major history reset by that solid mana magic. Is that what this Balur is? Cool! I'll get to update the wiki! That room was protected from Balur's influence because of the Magem supression field on the island and around the entire planet which kept the inhabitants of Pskaena from being affected by Balur, and which was the reason so many recluse people chose to live there. After all, why would you associate with the Nexus people if they just used the parasite-of-Oners magic, Balur as their currency and you met the same only slightly different people, time and time again every couple thousand years while Balur just kept on gaining more and more territory across multiple Oners, resetting their histories as it infiltrated them. So anyway, Aflae is the last of her repetitions. Something happens in her timeline so that she never recurs again. Each previous version of Aflae eventually figured it out, and hid the bracelets in the exact place her subsequent self would most likely think to look once she knew to look. Theophili was itching to tell her, but congratulations, Kantoku! You'll make your momma proud, little one!"

quote:
"So elf time knights? That must be a headach.... if you don't mind me asking how many times and by how many years has Balur altered time? My creator would like to know this I'm sure, she's quite peeved about the blue shift acceleration."

"Ask Aflae to ask Azraile about Dr Who. That's basically us. As for the number of resets, I'm afraid that's just beyond our current knowledge in the wiki. There have been at least 3 spanning many thousands of years by your time. But there aren't many more afterward as far as we can tell. Who do you think altered the evolution of that virus that ended up wiping out all of life? We don't look at more history than we have to since it never changes, but we love it so much that we've mapped out the major points and whenever we go on assignment or into the timeline for any reason, we get to report whatever we discover on the wiki. Don't worry about the blue-shift. These events seem to be the deciding factor, and the calculated deathage of Oner 0 won't change after this (we think). Also, at the crunch of Oner 0, everyone was given ample warning and opportunity - right up to the moment after the last moment - to leave Oner 0 for one of the sanctuary Oners. Many of the people who remained are immortals, and come back once Oner 0 reforms and becomes inhabitable yet again. ..." He grimaces and nods, "Then comes the Nightmare age. But after that, it's all good!" smiling, "Theophili will be annoyed at me for that. That much is in the wiki already."

A short crewman wearing an Ildeerian uniform comes out, speaking with an irish accent and grinning ear to ear, "Yeah, show yer momma my image too, if you please."

After she's landed, the tree-golems gladly take over seeing to their needs. One of them had a premonition and had been observing everything it needed to see in order to do everything Kantoku would wish to be done.

"So several diffrent versions from diffrent balur created time lines ended up on the place where balur isn't affected causing the time lines to murge and over lap there and each one got the braclets, used them... destroyed a few of them... and put the ones back they didn't destroy when they where done with them when they found out others like them would be along?"  He cants his head to one side. "hu... well it supports we may end the war... if the war is over the anti-balur field may go down there. Though there has differently been more than 3 resets... there have been a few duzzon at least."  (I think they had a ROUGH estement of how off the time was ATLEAST... and a fair guess of how many damage crystals out there there might be from poking at the black market.... NO ONE was selling there luck crystals.... he shares this info)

"Aflae is funding epxiditions into other owners to find new habitable worlds to evacuate too. There searching for resources ofcorse, but she's earmarking worlds that can maintain a large population. I guess enough will be found by the time they are needed, I hope the infrastructures are set up by then."

((Short post, post anything and I'll reply later))

Aflae recognizes the image as Yalfa the Leprechaun who pulled most of the people into the Sideways.

The Ildeerian Mage can answer a few more questions, but not much. When Balur rearranged the atoms to a previous iteration, new souls inhabit the remade people, and since their DNA and memories are the same but their souls are different, they're more like identical twins than anything else. But yes, they all got to the chamber first. Does Agle have a jumper bracelet? I forget. But if not, I'm trying to tell you she just has to want to find one and the first place she looks, she'll find it.

OOC: Yes, they were all taken, but like Sooth said, Aflae isn't as selfish as she thinks she is, and people who are going to die, often try to do one last heroic thing. Aflae should look for the bracelets so she can find them. The Grolms is just the name of the planet with the floating islands. If you're looking for that floating island, check with the property office on the Grolms, as moving an entire floating island off of the Grolms and into Nexus would leave a paper trail even if it had been stolen. Kantoku would have enough access to information that he'd figure this out.

The actual history of the island (and this is more than Kantoku knows, but not too hard to deduce) is that it formed in the Grolms like all the floating islands there, then it was eventually obtained by Agarator and flown through a Portal into Nexus, and from Nexus it was moved to...)

IC:
Kantoku delivers the specimen to Aflae, and then goes to the property office on the Grolms with the soil sample. Because of his relation to the Anima corporation, the property office can give him a list of island transactions, and the minerals and agriculture department of the office identifies the soil as coming from island 62683. The particular island was sold to a "Mr. Agarator" for $5000 about 10 years prior to the events surrounding the Portal Waif, Scilick and Synthia. Someone suggests that Kantoku check with Nexus Customs for more information.

Once he goes to Nexus Customs, the Customs official says, "Oh, I think I could figure that out. Boy, they really don't pay me too well. I could use some extra funds."

This box fell off the island and nearly landed on a good citizen's head, but she turned it in to the PDA anyway, and we've been trying to return it to Agarator ever since. Nothing from the fossils, but the box had a wrapping around it where the address label had been, and the pressure from the writing made an impression on the box which reveals the following instructions: "Delivery by air at specified time or through Portal at other specified windows only. Delivery outside of these means will be automatically destroyed, and product considered undelivered by the customer."

Due to the Portal registration process that Anima went through, Kantoku knows through the hive-mind that the Portal address and physical location of any Portal registered in Nexus can be tracked at the local Portal Creators' Guild. Any Portal entering into or traveling through Nexus is required to be registered on threat of Guild Police action.

0D. Kantoku's Return

Since Kantoku is at the Portal Creator's guild, he could theoretically commission a Portal to be created and go directly there (or nearby), not knowing what he'd find when he went through the Portal. He could also join Aflae and Azraile by going to Auraluna and then to the Comowe ship via their Portal there, then take the whole crew to the place. Kantoku can learn through the Hive Mind and Aflae's experiences in the Sideways that Agarator just recently left the presence of King Joe, so it is likely that he will have returned to his floating island from there.

As for delivery windows, the impression of the words written on the box don't include that information, so he doesn't know.

Well if they are likely heading there anyway, and it would take a while to get there besides just joinning them, would probably be best to quarentine himself and be cleansed again to protect his gearbox till a solution is found..... he's already damaged from the events on Gamma.

Okay, Kantoku will be cleansed and quarantined until this is over.

What would Kantoku do if Aflae disappeared and he couldn't contact her, but could still contact Stella, Estella and Star Lady?

0D. Kantoku's Return

Suddenly his connection to Aflae seems to freeze. She's still there, but distant and too slow to even communicate with.

For the first ten years, Kantoku looks for Aflae. He travels to the location she was last seen at, and follows her path. He tries to enter into the red star to the home of King Joe, but the entire star seems to be in a temporal-spacial lock, and nothing can enter or leave.

He eventually finds Agarator's island, but the Portal is connected to the locked area and is itself seemingly impenetrable.

Anyone who tries to open a Portal to inside the zone, time-freezes or fails. This fact is used by a number of people who don't want to live as they are, but don't want to die either.

For the next 90 years, Kantoku runs the company and keeps a crew actively searching for a way to retrieve Aflae.

After the 100th year, he disbands the search party and leaves the company in the hands of others, and goes off to do his own thing.

50 years later, Aflae finally notices that something is different.

OOC: Let me know what he does in each time period, be as detailed as you like

Split into a new timeline universe. Those within will migrate over to a new game, likely. However the Gatherer could bring anyone who wanted to return to the regular timeline back to it. The gatherer won't just bring the people who want to return, but will bring back the players characters for the players who want to have their characters return. So if Aflae wants to return, too bad. But if you want Aflae to return, then she returns.

Kantoku would have known where Aflae had gone and would have found the star....So he could have dedicated some finances to trying to brake the time spell on the star couldn't he?

Yeah, he could do that, but whatever happens inside the bubble will still happen.

He would find that the type of spell at work was easy to break from the inside for someone highly skilled in time & space magus, but nearly impossible from outside.

0D. Kantoku's Return

The reason there is no way in or out is so that Pontorna & Joe can be kept away from their kingdom for at least 150 years, Rulab can be a friendly (at the 150 year mark), Balur can be... (Spoilers), and so Salphron can have that much time before there is any danger of him meeting any other PC.

Before the 150 year mark, everyone whose life relies on Balur is suffering or dying. All Balur technologies are suffering as well, but being converted to Magus and science technologies. By the 50 year mark, all wards used to stop or slow Rulab fail, and Balur Portals have to be kept microscopic and only opened when needed. By the 100 year mark, Portals that still rely on Balur and haven't been converted to Magus or Technology begin to fail. By the 140 year mark, all Balur technologies fail.

0D. Kantoku's Return

So even two plains of glass with good blood seals in between thing desined to keep rulab out won't?  What if they pay some one to use time magic to stop time in the containment units? Then it wouldn't matter if they coudln't contain anything or not.

As for the people dying the company will keep doing it's part to smooth the transition and help people recover from Balur, while taking advantage of the fact the comoway nexus started using magus portals. Maybe if the oner 0 nexus is slow to convert Anima's nexus can become the primaryly used one now.

Once it becomes evident this problem isn't easly solable or going away, they will offer conversions to all tree-ships as it's fairly easy to do and wouldn't cost much, and they don't want people becoming standaded out in space.

The dyson sphere will be started up again once it's purged of Balur so it can finsh growing over the nest 150 years.

Once the mana stones start showing up Anima will reseach them ofcorse.

I guess Stella land will have to be evacuated of anyone that can be evacuated from it and eventually seals will have to be placed around the anchor to keep Rulab from it and then it will need to be frozen in time to keep the seals intact.

The company will keep looking for new ways to make money and stay afloat.....

it deffently won't offer refunds because the ways it sold to contain Balur started failing after 50 years XD But it will offer the name of some time mages to seal the vaults they built in time.

Anima will probaly mostly focus on sciences being they already where working on it and have good relations and trade with science based civilizations.

So they will work on developing sciences of there own, and facilitating trade of technologies to oner 0

The Gearfs and Narfs school will for now focus Narf classes on the sciences they are good at.   While taking some Narfs asside to assess how good Narfs are at Magus. If Narfs have the same nack at Magus as they do balur then the school can refocus on teaching narfs magus and looking for ways magus and technology can work together....

Ether way they will keep teaching narfs chemistry, biology, and the like maybe they will get some doctors too.

The school will be introducing much more advanced technology though as it's starting to work again. The sort of things coming out of it has always been good...not just for Anima but for the univurse as a whole.

Anima will also look into setting up similar schools (if they can afford it, wich at this point i'm not 100% sure they are making a profit anymore?  but if they are) on other worlds of other races in oner 0 to teach onwer-comway science and technologies

otherwise if they can't aford it... they will just open up the gearf/narf school to anyone that wants to go (but other races have to pay a fee, as it's explained this is a school dedicated to the parthnership and friendship between gearfs and narfs and the future of cohabitation and bla bla bla ect ect this is to help end the war and it's working so don't complain they get a free ride and you dont =p  )

0D. Kantoku's Return

Time stop/extreme slow will work to prevent contamination of a contained object.

In year 7, someone proposes that Nexus be placed inside a Portal bubble and moved to a zone inside Auraluna - Anima's Nexus. In year 70, someone creates a massive technology-based city-block sized 2D entrance portal in Nexus that connects directly to Auraluna, and allows unlimited energy-free passive transport between the two. The two amalgamate under Auraluna, with the individual districts of Old Nexus keeping their autonomy.

Tree-Ship Conversions are made and put a bit of a strain on the company's coffers, but the action is rewarded by customer loyalty and respect.

By the end of the 150 years, the metal/life-tree-based Dysonsphere is completed.

Anima's research into mana stones shows they are based on magus elements and enable access to those elements for anyone not otherwise able to use those elements, and also that they can be used up like magus-stone, though they aren't was potent as magus-stone.

Stella-land is safely and successfully sealed away from time for the time being.

The company experiences a few years of financial stress, but remains intact and affairs with the times.

The time mages appreciate the business, and some are hired directly by Anima.

Anima is able to keep in step with the technology of the Comowe people due to their trade relations. This is post-scarcity level tech, but not yet up to The Culture series level. Which sciences will Anima focus on developing?

Gearfs and Narfs both excel in the same kinds of Magus as Dwarfs since they are both descended from Dwarfs, with the addition of appropriate fields and elements. Dwarfs send their children to the schools also. By the end of the 150 years, the wars of Djunk are ended. Their only remnant is the culture of Warriors engaging in voluntary non-lethal battles for the ownership of voluntarily wagered items. Additionally, territories can be expanded only into unclaimed areas, and claim disputes can be judged by a non-lethal battle between 2 Champions if both parties agree, or by being given to the party with fewer resources.

Company funds allow, so new schools are opened.

Well they have various departments now... just let them focus what they are good at.

Sure ducky would love to get some new medical sciences...

The people working on Balur production can switch to researching how mana crystals form and see if there is a way to harness them. (wich if they work the same in this world there should be with spells gathering the magical energies into a base/seed crystal to make it grow faster than it normaly would)

I haven't worked out all the details of how the new Mana crystals will work. So I suggest that you experiment with them. Also, tell me why the magic worked the way that it did in the other universe, so that I can decide if it will work the same way in this one.

I can see a purpose for having Mana Crystal gathering spells, so I think I will allow that. However it will have to work over a period of time, so that you can't just recharge your Mana in the middle of a battle.

0D. Kantoku's Return

Yah they did work over time and required crystals of a size bigger than you would have on your equipment anyway.

They where crystalizations of magical energy that formed around sorces of an element or places where elements of that type was intence. They where mostly used in crafting and imbusned there elemental properties into items when used in making them.... when used like that the item didn't use them up but just chaneled power through them....  they could also be used as a battery and used up though.

So they where just basicaly used in two magor ways like a lense to alter the way energies worked or create affects.... this didn't use them up so long as they had another power sorce feeding them  (this could be the user's own power or tech power)

Or as an energy sorce of that energy... this used them up making them shrink away as the power was drained from them....  unlike balur there size was derectly related to there power and they couldn't be used to form 'empty' uncharged crystals..... the crystal gains charge it grows, it loses charge it shrinks....   there was a way to alter crystals so they became like the balur crystals though and could hold more charge than they normaly would with out shrinking or growing  but if you drained them bellow a set amount it would damage them as they started to brake down and shrink.... and if you gave them to much energy it would damage them as they started to fragement off chucks of new crystal growth..... but this way you could create a battery ... you just have to regulate it or you would end up haveing to repair it.

the crystals would usaly grow around crystals that had already fromed why you could seed them.... and evechaly use the gathering spells on a larger seed crystal.

which is why salphron figured some pilons like that could stop the spread.
