Character Development
Egg has a (non-jump) spacecraft fleet, and an active industry at GURPS TL-9.

I'm using GURPS 4th Edition for character generation and gameplay. Characters start with 150 points, and you may use your favorite character generator (google for them, there's a bunch out there).

Here's a GURPS character generator that seems to work:

You have to browse the menus to find the skills and such. Most of them are located under Basic Set. To add them to the character sheet, you click and drag the items you want into the character sheet. You will see the cursor change when you hover over the right area to drop them.

I broke down a while ago and bought GURPS Character Assistant for 4E.  It's too much work to do it by hand :)

Also having hard copies of the books helps for flipping through the darn disadvantages and advantages.  The Template in GURPS Traveller for Scouts was what I based Brent on.

Okay so for some reason the copy and paste from the pdf came out backwards, but here is the draft. I haven't had a chance to read through the rule set too much but this is maybe a starting point. Once I hunt down the out of print gurps traveler some of the skills my change to more appropriate ones.

According to Naimh, at TL-12, the computer's education programs can interface directly with the brain in a limited way, using the holographic displays to speed learning comprehension. Instead of having to read and memorize, the display presents the information in a form the student's brain can more easily process and, most importantly, recall later.

It does give the user a headache, which limits their sessions to an hour or so per day. A few people can't use the system, but no one aboard has reported any problems.

As a side note, Naimh intends to introduce this system to the schools on Execute, as soon as she can wheedle the necessary hardware out of Joxe ;-)

It works for book knowledge, but not for practical experience. So, yes, they can use the system as needed.
