Operation Getafix
The party is able to make good time through the forest thanks to the careless trampling of the Goblin horde and after nearly two hours of hunting the corporal darted forward to halt the leading half orc, also ceasing the lightning on his arrow. In the silence borne of stillness the group can hear that which caught the corporals attention, metal on metal and the call and cackle of shrill malicious voices. Crouching and moving with greater care the squad soon find themselves at the edge of a small ravine and the site of a sizable goblin warcamp.

The most unusual thing about this camp is that it is the home of two very different forces. In a ravine stretching from East to west the west of the camp is orderly and precise. Eight tents are set in two rows of four and at a cooking fire a handful of Hobgoblins are sharpening longswords, stitching a piece of studded leather armour and slowly turning a leg of lamb on a spit. Nearly a hundred feet away to the east a cluster of crude teepees stand seemingly placed at a whim. Several goblins can be seen playing a game of bones amongst the teepees and at a small bonfire another fifty feet up the gully several more goblins might be on guard though they seem more interested in arguing with each other then keeping watch.

The parties attention however is seized by a shout of pain and a curse in common. Between the two camps a pavilion has been erected. Shadows dance off its walls, several voices call from within and a wolf stalks by its edge, tethered by black iron chains.

OOC: The ravine is ninety feet wide with a small river running through it. The cliffs on either side range from twenty to forty feet high and the forest runs right up to their edge. From the parties location the cliffs are thirty feet, fifty feet to your west the cliff has collapsed forming a dirty ramp that appears from the tracks to be the way the goblins brought their captive into their camp.

Jorath is visibly thinking and becoming excited, something unusual for the monk (the thinking part that is) he uickly starts to look around and signals to boc and the corporal. He quietly suggests to look for boulders that can be manhandled by two or three of them that can be rolled into the camp to cause damage and chaos.

As he moves about and looks for boulders something clicks in his mind. The wolf chained guarding what he assumed was the Druid is very familiar to him. The goblin who shot him... It must be that wolfs boss. With a low growl as quietly as he could he says That wolf is mine

OOC: looking to find boulders to roll down the sides of the ravine or send down the ramp into the camp to start some fun

"They are confident they can make him talk," Tarpin whispers a loose translation of what the goblin voices are saying. "They say he will tell them anything to stop the rotting. I have no idea what that refers to but it doesn't sound good."

Tarpin looks at the camp as carefully as he can, trying to judge distances and numbers of enemies.

OOC: How far are each of the groups from our position?

Boc grunts his agreement with Tarpin's translation and nods his understanding to Jorath "Rock roll."  He helps find boulders and possibly a fallen tree trunk that he could drag to the top of the access slope ready to roll it down.

Daelan bunkers down and quitely observes the camp trying to discern any active runes or other means for containing the druid, and any other seemingly bossy goblins.

Operation Getafix
From the parties observation post:
-The river is on average 20ft wide with roughly 65ft of land on your side and 5ft of land on the other side.
-The leaders tent is roughly thirty feet wide (circular) and is 20ft south and 25ft East
-The dirt ramp is 70ft East, is roughly a 45 degree slope of difficult terrain though with a good balance check speed will not be effected scrambling down it while a poor balance check running down it could be painful for the runner and hilarious to all observers.
-The Goblins camp is 110ft East
-The Hobgoblins are 40ft West
-There is a lot of chatter coming from the command tent in goblin and only the occasional curse in common and the clank of heavy chains, both from the restless wolf and within the tent. There are no runes or trip wires easily visible. Skill checks or spells may reveal more.
-There is a small (2-3ft) or medium (4-6ft) boulder every 20 - 25ft within 5ft of the edge of the cliff, each is either partially buried or held by vegetation. Any of these could be freed and moved into position with the forests abundance of sturdy branches. The speed of the operation (a boulder moved into position in either five minutes, half an hour or one hour) will effect the DC of the necessary strength, move silently and hide checks.

How long do Boc and Jorath wish to spend, moving how many of what sized boulders into what positions?

Jorath suggests moving about 6 boulders ideally two small and one medium aimed at the goblin and hobgoblin camps respectively. Jorath's plan is to trigger the medium ones rolling first then send smaller ones down towards the camps. If they draw too much attention while preparing he will just send down the ones they have and then move down the ramp to engage the enemy

Daelan rolled 18 using 1d20+8.  spot check vs camp.

At the third boulder, Daelan moves off to scout for less obvious routes to the water used by local game.

Daelan rolled 11 using 1d20+8.  Survival, find game trail into ravine near hob goblins.
08:03, Today: Daelan rolled 4 using 1d20+2.  Knowledge nature wolf.

"It would be best if we could get down amongst them before they know we are there," Tarpin whispers. "Perhaps we could find a way down the cliff further away where they can't see us in the darkness. Does anyone have rope or are there strong enough vines to hold our weight?"

He nods in acknowledgement as Daelan heads off to explore, apparently with the same idea in mind.

Boc will follow Jorath's plan and move rocks into position.  The tree trunk is for covering their escape - to roll down the ramp after they have climbed back up, hopefully with the asset druid in tow.  He notes Daelan and Tarpin scouting off but decides to stay on the cliff top initially.  He's not good at sneaking "Boc make noise." he shrugs, and checks his store of javelins and readies his battered large shield.

He positions himself with his boulders above the hobgoblin camp (to the west) and watches the camp waiting for a signal to roll the medium boulder.  He's not sure what that signal will be - perhaps Jorath rolling his, or a sign from the scouts, or an order from the corporal - but he's sure it will all come clear sooner or later ... he is not in the habit of over-thinking a problem.

Operation Getafix
With the Goblins and Hobgoblins pursuing their own interests and their leaders distracted by the interrogation of the Druid the party is free to take their time. After an hour and a half of slow, careful work Jorath and Boc each have a small pile of boulders propped and ready to roll one at a time into the camps. Daelan and Tarpins explorations also bore fruit, several hundred feet to the East and West there are small game trails and collapsed sections of cliff where animals go down to the river to drink. While the others work the corporal has simply covered the camp with drawn bow. The sky has started to lighten, it is roughly one hour to dawn.

OOC: Game map updated under group 0. If anyone would like to position themselves differently let me know, it appears an assault on the camp will be lead by Joraths first boulder.

"How are we going to do this?" Tarpin whispered. "Climb down to the east and attack the goblins first, or climb down to the west and attack the hobgoblins first, or stay up here and shoot at them until they run away then rush down the slope and chase them? I can drop a hail of stones on two hobgoblins that are side by side (eg the 2 hobgoblin sentries to the west) from 130 feet away if that helps our plan."

Boc listens, but shrugs and rumbles back quietly "Plan? ... Drop rock ... Boc run down."  He makes sure the log is positioned at the top of the ramp then waits near his pile of rocks, arranging them just so ...

Any extra hurt we can bring on these monsters is a good idea master tarpin. But as for the plan let Boc and myself lead the way while everyone else covers us. Hopefully we can make a big enough distraction and you guys can get the Druid out.... Jorath waits for the other party members to get settled into their positions and then lets loose his first Boulder. He will let them go in quick succession and then make his way down the slope to the fight

"If it's a distraction, it may be better for me to sneak down the back and exit on the game trails with the druid. I saw a number of angry animal tracks, so I think if we can get him out of the camp it will be hard to follow us."

Operation Getafix
As the architect of calamity it is Jorath who has the honour of initiating the small avalanche. As one by one the boulders are levered free rocks fall, goblins die. Joraths first boulder rolls and smears a goblin across the ground before smashing through the fire sending flaming logs into the surrounding tents. The second and third boulders each crash through tents before rolling on to further mash goblins. From the squeals and shrieks it is obvious several goblins have been very rudely awakened. At the sentry bonfire some goblins exclaim in panic and concern, however most of the malicious little creatures laugh.

In the hobgoblin camp Bocs first boulder crunches into a hobgoblin drives its shattered body into the fire. Each of the smaller boulders bounces through one tent; one comes to rest in another Hobgoblin. As the first boulder enters the hobgoblin camp the two sentries turn at the noise, rocks fall, hobgoblins die. With a chip of Jade reduced to powder in his hand the warmages skills partially bury the two hobgoblin sentries. Drawing and firing with remarkable speed and accuracy the corporal manages to put three of four arrows into two hoblins leaving just three hobgoblins to stagger from their tents, confused and panicked.

As the rocks settle the goblin wolfrider storms out of the central tent and immediately starts calling out in its sharp little tongue.

Boc gives a satisfied nod towards the wreckage of the hobgoblin camp.  He looks over at the others at ramp and points down, then lowers himself over the cliff, climbs down 10' then jumps the last 20'.  He crunches over the pebbles of the river bank as he moves towards the hobgoblin tents, readying his shield and hammer as he goes.  He stops west of the westernmost tent and calmly waits for the hobs to come at mim.

22:07, Today: Boc rolled 14 using 1d20+11.  jump down 20'.
22:07, Today: Boc rolled 21 using 1d20+7.  climb down 10'.

Delain moves 6→ at half pace, using the trees for cover to counter any attempts to rush the hill and be closer to the main tent. Breathing in she steels herself and curses under her breath for not having a bow.

Daelan rolled 21 using 1d20+7.  Hide, stealth.

While the last of the rocks were falling, Tarpin conjured another shower of stone onto the densest concentration of hobgoblins or goblins he could see. His hail of stones only covered a 10ft diameter so he sought out a group of 2, 3 or 4 of the enemy clustered closely together in either the goblin camp or hobgoblin camp. (The eastern goblin campfire is beyond the 130ft range of his spell.)

Then when the goblin wolfrider emerged from his tent Tarpin sought to hit him (and his wolf, if they are close enough together) with another hail of stones.

OOC:
Tarpin rolled 6 using 3d4.  Hail of stones at group of hobs or gobs.
Tarpin rolled 8 using 3d4.  Hail of stones at wolfrider (and wolf?).

Jorath is very excited by the success of the rocks, however his eyes quickly settle on the wolf rider. following boc's lead he climbs down 10ft and then jumps the last 20ft.
Upon landing he points directly to the wolf rider "IM COMING FOR YOU!"
He looks at the goblins in front of him, smiling he flexes his arms. In the most terrifying voice he can muster he says "all of you are in my way"  with a very disconcerting grin on his face he  prepares for a good fight

rolled 16 climb 10ft
Rolled 26 jump 20ft
Rolled 4 intimidate goblins  (haha lol jorath is a clown now )
