[1.02] The Old Fishery

More rooms, more disgusting nonsense, more children enslaved to do Lamm's bidding. Honestly it was disconcerting how nostalgic this all made her. While the earlier children wouldn't listen, maybe these ones would and escape? Before she got a chance though the Tengu pointed out a gnome amidst the bunch, one with a big blade! (Relatively speaking)

"Children, quickly now, you can flee! Take the front door, get to the temples and you'll be okay!"

Making a diplomacy check to get the kids to flee to safety, considering the situation and the initiative order.
16:00, Today: Cordelia Abbey rolled 16 using 1d20+7 with rolls of 9.  Diplomacy.

Kraw, seeing no one in front of him moving, tries to jump past his group and the child beyond, seeking room to fight. He is not entirely successful.

Trying for 6 spaces south (R-08?)

Kraw tries to shove his way to the front but nearly loses his footing on the narrow and rickety walkway.

Hookshanks pulls out a knife from a wrist sheath and buries it into the doorway right next to Anya's head.

Cordellia calls out to the children who seeing Hookshanks distracted all bolt out the various exits of the room. Hookshanks calls out threats to them but they are already out the door and gone...gone...gone...

Anya empowers a card and sends it flying into Hookshank's tiny chest.

"Fantastic, Cordelia! Now let's get him!" Anya draws another card which she sends flying, the card strengthened by her magic, but this time she wants it too much. She throws too hard, the card folds in flight, takes a quick turn straight up and bounces harmlessly off the ceiling.

OOC:
Move: draw card,
Standard: Throw, hitting AC6.

There was something just a little bit satisfying about THESE children listening to her and getting away, hopefully to the safety of the various temples around the city. Either way it'd be better than being working for Lamm, just waiting for him to get drunk or lose his temper and slit their throats. Now she was able to devote her full attention to the gnome, leaning ever so slightly to the side to look past Anya's shoulder. A loud twang and her bolt just past Anya in a dead shot for Hookshank's throat.

She most certainly did not look surprised at actually using the silly weapon properly, instead reloading it.

Crit, confirmed on 17, 12 damage at Hookshanks. Reload as a move action.

Anya throws Cordelia the rusty key. ”You took the last key, right? Someone with a backpack should take the rest of this.” she says, swiftly pulling the - to an ordinary person like her - expensive armor off of the gnome. She then opens the door to the west, pick in hand.

OOC: Opens doors to the west from S8.

The doors are already open as many of the kids ran away this way after Anya chased them out. Inside is just a loading dock, now empty besides for a cart half filled with the fish slurry to be sold down by the wharfs.

Opening up the last door reveals...an empty bedroom. A pair of bunk beds sit against athe far wall on either side of a boarded up window.

Double checking the floor the only thing that the keys might possibly go to is a cabinet in the corner of the workshop. There doesn't appear to be any other exits or hidden chambers on this floor. Judging from the size of the building though it might be possible for there to be a basement of sorts although how to get down there would be a mystery. From what Kraw saw of the side of the building one could probably access the lower level via a rowboat unless another way could be found...

Kraw thinks about what he's seen thus far. "Only other thing that might lead to a lower level is that boat out back. It might have a tunnel from the lower deck to some sort of bolthole. Shall we check it out?"

”Oh... Sure.” Anya turns and walks out of the room, again tucking her card back in her bag and grabbing her pick. She holds it up towards the others. “If he’s hidden away, there might be more surprises coming for us. Be ready.” On the way towards the boat, she says ”You know... It feels strange, if we’ll actually find him. This hidden away man... From what I’ve seen, the guards don’t even care about him since they just can’t find him. But I would be glad if we did... He got me hooked, I got stuck with that life-ruining shiver. Years ago. And over in Trail’s End, there’s more children going into crime every day, shiver pushes them there. Knowing what an evil man he is, I wouldn’t hesitate if it came to killing him. How about you?”

Cordelia fumbles for a bit but manages to catch the thrown key, putting it away before reloading her crossbow once more. Apparently she'd be the keeper of the keys today? With a shrug she followed along behind the group, covering their backs. As Anya immediately turns around, Cordelia blinks, before pointing to the cabinet.

"Are we just . . . going to ignore that?"

Well, Cordelia would at least try to take a peek, what with those keys of hers after all.

OOC: I'd like to check the obvious cabinet first, but when we end up going down (assuming nothing Cordelia might find would change things up) Cordy will take the rear.

Kraw doesn't find any traps and one of the small keys works to unlock the cabinet. Inside the cabinet are six small pouches, four of which contain fifty copper pieces and the remaining two have fifty silver pieces each.

Going down into the depths of the ship means passing through sheets of cobwebs and dank, musty air. The bowels of the ship is dark as the windows are covered with thick sheets of cobweb and dust and so the only real light source is what comes down through the stairwell from the deck above.

OOC: Dim lighting in a 5' radius around the stairwell (20% mischance unless you have darkvision) and complete darkness (those without darkvision are blinded)

From what the group can see there are several barrels, crates, and other containers stacked here and there and a shallow layer of river water has collected into puddles. A soft scratching sound can be heard from behind the crates.

Cordelia hears something from behind her and just barely has time to give a shout of warning before spiders start swarming out of the shadows to attack.

Round 1

A spider rushes up from behind Coredelia and bites on her exposed ankle. While the bite isn't too bad it does hurt and she can feel the wound burning a bit.
OOC: Cordelia takes 1 pt of non-lethal damage and must make a Fort save vs. DC 10
