[OOC] The Tavern 2: The Taverning

Map is up. Guards are marked in orange but there are numerous potential combatants within the crowd given it is made up of generals and prestigious adventurers. Lord Glorio also has a a small retinue that has moved to surround Glorio (and by association, Kraw). The guards in purple near Ayeesha and Kyra represent the Sable Company that accompanied their commander.

@Figus: Where are you putting the globe? Check the map for details.

Grid numbers and letters would help.

[OOC] The Tavern 2: The Taverning

It isn't supposed to be a tactical encounter. Hence no initiatives or grid numbers.

Just as a word of caution remember you're in full view of the city guard and the elite nobility and generals and rich of the city. If you start attacking guards or overtly helping Trina to escape there is likely a chance you will be branded a traitor and your head will be next on the block.

Shouting out warnings or tripping a guard etc. are things that can be excused away but just remember where you are right now. If you want to go down that path, that's fine but have a backup character prepared :P

How visible is spell casting? Do people "know" I cast a Darkness spell? Would that require a Spellcraft check on their part? Or does it just appear?

I guess the same questions apply to Kyra's spell casting.

[OOC] The Tavern 2: The Taverning

How much of a risk is there of someone noticing that Kyra is casting a spell, or what the effects of the spells are?

If there is any real risk, I'll have to adjust my post.

Hmmm, perhaps a carelessly dropped Tanglefoot bag. Done with sleight of Hand so no one sees me do it?

[OOC] The Tavern 2: The Taverning

Given the chaos nobody is likely paying attention but unlikely doesn't mean there isn't risk involved.

Kyra's spell doesn't have any obvious magical display so someone would have to spellcraft on her to know what happened AND talk to the executioner.

Darkness could be cast by anyone, even Blackjack, but Figus is a dark elf (or appears to be) and that is a known ability so he might be blamed for it whether or not he is responsible.

That being said, Blackjack is viewed like Batman or Zorro. The city absolutely loves him and him being a defender of the city is without question, with hundreds of years of stories of his heroics backing him up.

While overtly fighting against the guard or helping Blackjack would absolutely put you at odds with the Queen, it might not necessarily make you a villain in the eyes of the city. Field Marshall Kroft for example would never arrest you for helping Blackjack but that's assuming she gets to you before Sabina or the QUeen's personal guard does.

Or the Queen could just contract with some Red Mantis assassins or bounty hunters or mercenaries.

My point is it is a complicated situation so be careful before jumping headlong into it. Actions have consequences.

Hmm, Kyra is a bit more paranoid cautious. I'll edit my actions.

[OOC] The Tavern 2: The Taverning

Congratulations on officially ending Book 1. Everyone can level up to level 4!

edit: Whoops I see what I did wrong. You're supposed to be on fast track XP because the old 3.5 APs are built along that XP gain.

So your level up points are:

5th -10,000
6th -15,000
7th -23,000
8th -34,000
9th -50,000

etc.

Basically fast puts you about a full level ahead of medium, give or take. That is why I thought for sure you would level up during the last dungeon. My bad. No pity XP needed, you're already halfway to level 5, lol.

So, at level 4 ... can we go after the Spider guy now?

I do feel like we need a pretext to do so however, do we have one?
