Might I suggest that with some of our 'mundane items' credit, we all invest in Finely Tailored clothes costing 50 gp each? In the Equipment guide, it says that almost anything reasonable can be a Masterwork Tool. I don't see why fine clothes cannot give each of us a +2 on Diplomacy.

Unless you count Intimidate as a social skill, I at about +1 for most of them.

Knowledge Local I do have +2 (+4 vs humans)

To see a crime boss? I am not sure that would work.

For the long run, is retraining on the table when we get some down time? If I can figure out a way to retrain into diplomacy as a class skill, that is...

Hmmm, do we still have Lamm's Journal or Account books? Or did we turn those in? If we still have them, they might be a tempting bargaining chip. Lamm is dead, but knowledge of who he did business with, and who he had dirt on would tempt ANY crime lord who wanted to expand his number of puppets sphere of influence.

I believe our initial approach should be open. It would give us the potential for either skulking or bribing.

But, take the antitoxin before hand just in case, it's good for an hour. It can't hurt to bring the journal even if the guy is not interested.

Fine clothes are good, but they will only provide a bonus to one social skill, right? Since Kyra has 0 skill in diplomacy, I'm thinking of focusing her bonus on her already respectable (well, for level 2) +7 bluff instead. Maybe someone else could take the diplomat role for this mission?

Also, about the journal / ledger, Kyra would definitely like to take a look at it before we move in, if for no other reason than to figure out if it is worth anything or not. She has no Profession: Merchant skill, but maybe Knowledge: Local or default on Appraise would work?

It won't. But pulling the headpiece from my pack and putting it on takes way less time than putting the full suit on. And walking in fully suited is not suitable for a face-to-face.

Keep the cloak closed. But yeah, they might search us. Doubt it though...it just isn't done in this kind of society.
