So have to let Ayeesha take her action as how she moves is going to be critical to what Trinia does which is critical for what the rest of you are doing.

Again as a reminder, you are dealing with the obstacles on your square only. You can choose to move 1 square automatically (and it only counts as a move action so you can do other things like cast spells, make an attack, use a wand/potion etc.). As a full-round action you can attempt to move 2 squares (pass one of the challenges on your current tile) or move 3 squares (pass BOTH challenges on your current tile.)

Currently for everyone this is an Acrobatics and a Perception check.

I would say that your levitation means you cannot fall if you fail 2 tasks by more than 5 however it provides no special bonuses for jumping across gaps.  The rules suggest that by pushing yourself off of something you could move horizontally at half speed  so that probably isn't very helpful in this situation.

@Kraw: Roll your initiative. You need to beat an 18 to go before Trinia and grapple her. Otherwise she is going to move 2 squares so plan accordingly.

Nah, I do not feel that I had it bad, i just feel I had no chance at all. This entire thing is pretty much based on Dex and Acrobatics. I did not get surprise, and lost I intiative which put me out of range with no chance to close. Even my magic is not improving things, which I feel it should, but in all honesty it should be paired with an Acrobatics check which is not that great.

There is no chance of anyone but Kraw getting even close to her and he has not been rolling that well.

If Kraw makes no progress either, next round Kyra can try to Web her. I was reluctant to use up my best spell like this, as it could come in very handy should we need to evade pursuit later on. But to hell with it, Kyra is getting tired of this as well.

Alternatively, I could blind her, I just noticed that although Blindness-Deafness has permanent duration, it is also dismissible. It might make her fall off the roof though. DM, how much danger is there of that? How close to the edge is she?

@Kraw: I just checked and it looks like the map didn't update and hasn't updated in awhile. I suspect I might have been saving to file A but uploading to file B. I'll get that fixed shortly.

@Figus: I'm sorry to hear it. It is designed to be difficult however this isn't a fail state for the adventure path. Because of the random nature of obstacles and the specific advantages that Trinia has (to be faaiiiir it is her home turf) I would expect this to be quite difficult without a skill monkey or very special spells in play. There is a chance for her to roll poorly or you to roll very well to close the gap but if you want to pass, that is fine. You can always move forward one square automatically. I think you should also be able to "aid another" on your team mates so you could move into a support roll to help kraw make those big gains and then be nearby to help if he grapples her.

@Kyra: If you blind her she is going to most likely stop running. Running across rooftops blind is a guarantee to fall to the street and then, blind, she would be easy prey for the mobs hunting her. Given that she can cast spells it is safe to assume she has some modicum of intelligence and she would know that her chances of surviving mob justice is zero so the smart move would be to hope that her pursuers aren't going to outright kill her, and even then she has a better chance of fighting back against 4 people than 400.

@Ayeesha: Good to know. I'll keep that in mind for the next updates until you return.

I don't see how I can possibly aid him, i can't keep up with them. Even if he does manage to grapple, i will be at best minutes behind them. I am just disappointed at what I consider a bad design on the part of the module creators. I just can't see how a standard party has a chance of getting her when our party, which is extremely mobile and with fairly decent DEX stats has this much trouble.

I do want to ask one question, why was she already outside her apartment? How did she know we were coming?

Okay after an embarrassing amount of time I finally figured out my problem. I was saving my map as a .png but was loading a .jpg. Same name file though. My apologies.

@Figus: You wouldn't know this and might never know this but one of her neighbors warned her of a stranger approaching (Ayeesha) and she beat two rounds of stealth vs. perception checks against you and Kraw before Kraw won and spotted her. She took a big penalty because of the situation but she rolled a 20 and 18 vs. your/kraw's 5's and 6's:


00:23, Sun 20 Oct: Secret Roll: Dungeon Master rolled 38 using 3d20 with rolls of 16,2,20.
00:23, Sun 20 Oct: Secret Roll: Dungeon Master rolled 29 using 3d20 with rolls of 18,6,5.
00:23, Sun 20 Oct: Secret Roll: Dungeon Master rolled 33 using 3d20 with rolls of 20,5,8.

So the first two she passes, but on the last one Kraw's 20+ Perception beats her 16 + Stealth -5 penalty for being exposed.

That is very true. I can throw the hardest puzzles and demonic forces and they will chew through them like butter but ask them to go to a fancy party and it's a coin toss if they will end up murdering the king's son in an "unsanctioned duel."

I think that is the right attitude though. It explains why they are much better out there, away from society.

Does Holy Weapon balm affect 1 dagger or 10 daggers, since they are ammunition, too?
