Re: OOC - The Three Hammers Inn
Although Morgan supported the rest option, I want to ask that next time the casters not blow their wad at the first fight. They used up all their spells on orcs. The warriors didn't even get to do anything but slit throats of the sleeping enemy. Something I didn't like BTW. I don't mind killing the orcs in battle, but in their sleep is just murder.

Save the spells for when they are needed, and use the time to look for other things in the room. Traps, secret doors, ways enemies can sneak up or flank us. If it looks like the warriors can't handle it, then use the spells.

Re: OOC - The Three Hammers Inn
I'm kind of with Morgan on this one. I'm absolutely fine with how/when our magic-users used their spells; they were suitably awesome and great tactical uses.

Here's where the game balance comes into play. As Morgan said, us fighter tips didn't get to do too much, and that's okay. But now that the magic-users are out of spells, we get the opportunity to be awesome. That's the balance.

If we rest after every two fights whee the magic-users take everything out, then the fighters never get their opportunity.

I think it should be the case that the party rests only once per day, sunrise to sunrise.

Re: OOC - The Three Hammers Inn
I wouldn't say that Val, There might come a time where we get into a big fight early in the day. One in which the casters need to use their spells. It would be foolish then if we refused to rest, and had to face something as or more challenging later. I'm saying the casters should be more judicious with their spells.

Re: OOC - The Three Hammers Inn
It's okay if Zendyra did not rest... I read into it in the GMs last post that we had.

The power of the mage is not all with spells... its just we don't HAVE any scrolls or wandw to work with, being new at this an all...

:o)

Im fine with whatever GM declares. Either way, let's move on.

That was saying, once in a 24 hour period.  Which is how every other game I have ever played in has been run.

Re: OOC - The Three Hammers Inn
Should we keep a separate thread to keep track of treasure (and who's carrying it) and experience?

DM, if you're already doing so or if you prefer to have that behind the screen no issues from my side. I just think it would be useful to have a quick reference instead of going through old posts in the IC thread. I can maintain the information if you'd like to have someone looking at that (and if no one else volunteers).

GM:

So what is everyone want to do now?  The map of cave entrances is available via the Game Map link above and then select "Game Map for Group 0" from the drop down list.

I say we head up to the next cave on this side of the ravine.  Which would be 'A'.

My vote is for people to grab what they want when it comes up, and all splits be done immediately.  Book-keeping in play by forum is an intense PITA as you quickly forget what happened when.

The contents of the chest are as follows: 205 copper, 286 silver, 83 gold and 13 platinum pieces (in total a 189gp value which equates to 27XP each).

For example, I updated my character's sheet with the note:  27gp in Orc coins (various denominations).

It has been my experience that this kind of simplification works best in play by forum.  Everyone should feel free to use whichever method suits them, the end result is basically the same.  I know that the elephant in the room here is encumbrance but I'm going to leave that to everyone to use common sense here and we'll just ignore it until there's times where it makes sense to apply it: e.g. ok so you've found 15,000 coins, who's going to carry it?.

That's not a bad idea at all.  I've got a whole page dedicated to exactly that in my handy dandy notebook but it make sense to have it somewhere everyone can see it all in one place.

A?  What, ummm... no wait it's all good - I've done that part of the map.  The battle maps however are a different story... *DM quickly reaches for his graph pad*.

So we have one vote for A, I'll leave the voting channels open until this evening and then we'll enter the cave with the most votes.

Re: OOC - The Three Hammers Inn
I vote for magic items an potions and magic items and the like being divided up by who needs them most and who can use them best.  The to buy $ value from the DMG should be kept track of and once they get back to the Keep.  When all the coinage and gems get divided up as into as equally of shares as possible. The cost of the magic item/s or potion etc.  Used or unused goes against that PC's share.  After all, it's only fair!

Re: OOC - The Three Hammers Inn
I'm not going to quibble about coins, and gems and stuff that's easy to divide. But if that +3 thunderous warhammer comes up and I just received a +2 sword, that could really suck. Especially if I just finished paying off the sword. We should have something in place to divide those fairly. I also don't want to be the guy always selecting need.

Also it would be 43gp, 8sp, and 5cp per person, but there would be a few coins left over. The 27 was XP from treasure.

Also, I'm good to go on A or C either would work.

A works for me.

Also, just to be clear, we've earned a total of 177 XP, correct?

This thread http://www.dragonsfoot.org/for...hp?f=109&t=74409 describes a method (from Mentzer I believe) that is very simple and fair, in my view.

Re: OOC - The Three Hammers Inn
OK cave A it is, sorry for the delay but I had to redraw the battlemaps due to a slight an initial miscalculation in the number of 5ft squares.. anyway it allowed me to try a few ideas I've had with the maps and i think they've come out rather nice if I do say so myself.

I'm giving it a full month. I live on a fixed income, and had a while there where I lost my computer. I appreciated the GM's and players that gave me time to replace it. I hope he'll come back.

Odd. The GM logged in, but no update, or anything. I think the game is officially dead.
