1: Just Another Average Day...
The idea of a "day" in the Facility doesn't have the normal meaning that you understand from your dictionaries. There's no regular night or other change in illumination, just a constant glow from the magical lights, though there are times when none of you are currently in need of daily inactivity, and are free to choose your course of action - at least until the Facility decides, in whatever manner it does this, to challenge you with a group exercise. This is you "day."

What individual activity do you engage in on this particular day? It can be personal training, a hobby, a project, or even pure frivolity, as long as it's within the rooms you've spent your time in to this point. The rooms will provide targets and sparring conjurations as requested, though these are different from the training routines that are sometimes sprung on you.

Chopper approached today the way he did everyday. He did the work. He didn't do the same work everyday because routine's lead to flaws. But everyday he worked. Today was a hammer day. In one of the facility training rooms, he found a rack of hammers. Small working hammers. Slightly larger, amazingly balanced hammers. Hammers for a forge. Hammers for a war. Hammers on large poles. Though he favored the axe and he was quick enough to get close to someone and "chop" away, he knew the value of a well aimed throw.

He started most hammer days by swinging the Lucerne Hammer, a large pole arm that could knock a mounted opponent off their steed and crush their skull at the same time.

From their he swung the War Hammer from side to side in much the same way he would swing his favored weapon, the Great Axe. After 15 minutes of swinging, he would begin tossing. He started tossing with the heavier War Hammer. Though not its intended use, he found that he was always striving to grow stronger and stronger with his throwing hammer tosses and he reasoned that if he could throw a heavier hammer the same distance, he could throw the lighter one a bit further today than he had yesterday.

Throwing hammers was about strength but also about assessing distance. The farther away the target was, the more spin chopper tried to add to give it the speed and momentum to carry the distance.

Finally he swung the forge hammer. He wondered if he would ever be allowed to use this hammer as it was intended, to mold, to shape a weapon, a weapon he could use. He'd wanted to create for as long as he could remember and he dreamed of making his own axe one day.

Smith, on the other hand, had at no point waited for 'permission' to begin working on his own designs. Instead, the stubby little warforged was, once again, working on 'Lista', his pet crossbow.

Aim, fire, sand down a rough patch, aim, fire, add another firing string, aim, fire, patch in a reloader, aim, fire, remove the reloader, curse, throw at wall, aim, fire, add a path groove, aim, fire, apply filler, aim, fire...

It's a long process. He's getting there. Soon, it will be THE GREATEST CROSSBOW IN THE FACILITY!!!

The lights in the rooms flicker in a signal that a training scenario is about to begin - today is apparently not going to involve an ambush-type challenge, as sometimes happens to keep you on your toes.

Words hovering within the central crystal in the main room inform you that Smith and Chopper will be paired up to handle the challenge initially. Other warforged might be brought in as reinforcements.

Equipment is to be standard, but the illusions and conjurations will appear in the weapon room where one can pick up spare or replacement weapons or ammunition. The goal is fairly standard as well: acquire a fragile sphere from the other side of the room and return it through the doorway. Terrain and conjured enemies will try to stop you. Completion within one minute (10 rounds) will be considered exemplary and will earn new equipment and parts for the weapon room (equivalent to a level 2 magic weapon).

All damage will be non-lethal, but can eventually incapacitate (i.e. reduce a character to 0 HP). Incapacitation of all participating warforged or breakage of the sphere (which will result if a warforged falls or is reduced to 0 HP) results in failure and the end of the exercise.

The exercise will commence when Chopper and Smith have assembled at the weapon room entrance (i.e. when you've let me know you're ready, and rolled initiative).

Chopper saw the flashing lights and prepared for the new training scenario. When he saw that it involved sphere retrieval, he grew a little anxious. Asking Chopper to use finesse was like asking a bull not to break things after letting it loose in a china shop...

He was excited to be partnered with Smith. Smith worked on weapons, on machinery. He admired Smith's skills. Smith would be a great partner for Chopper in this event, or so he hoped. Chopper could charge in and clear the path for Smith to grab the sphere and move along.

Nodding to Smith as he approached the training room door, Chopper readied his axe and made for the door.

OOC: 10:52, Today: Chopper rolled 4 using 1d20+1. Initiative.

Smith waves to Chopper when he comes in, then beckons him over. The littler Warforged (Smith is one of the shortest creations of the forge here) quickly says to Chopper "Glad I've got backup, I'm not the best on my own. By the way, have been watching you work out, I have some thoughts on improving joint efficiency, but I'll just point those out inside."

He gives a quick salute and prepares for the exercise...

OOC: Initiative 14, because the dice roller likes me better than Chopper. :)

09:05, Today: Smith rolled 14 using 1d20+1 ((13)).
