GM Bard:
It isn't a real owl, only if the feather is destroyed is it gone.  It can be killed but it can be summoned again the next day.

Whew!  Thanks for making me feel better.

So I'm guessing now isn't the time to tell the fairies that we're helping an Illithid?  :)

Work has been rough for me, leaving me little energy for the game. I'm here but silent  for now. Feel free to NPC me as needed.

Re: OOC: Table Talk TWO

Can I just say ... it's been a delight to see how you frame scenes and describe the world.  I've been taking mental notes for my own DM bag of tricks.

One of the things I really struggle with (in games that I run) is when a scene setting post seems stiff and too matter-of-fact.

You go here, the room looks like this, the NPC says such-and-such.

Re: OOC: Table Talk TWO

Aldo, no worries, we are starting at a very relaxed pace somewhat intentionally.  There will be a good bit of exposition, which is generally not much fun rpol-wise, but you go where the plots take you.

Nimble, thanks!  I'm quite an amateur GM myself, but we all learn from each other.  It's the want to improve that is the important thing.  As we go along, you'll see I use embedded photo's to supplement my descriptions many times, I always found it exciting and helpful to have visual aids when I was a player.  I just wish I could create decent maps.  The original DM for this game was great at that.   I have to resort to copy/paste and scans!  :-).  But still, 50xp to Nimble for buttering up the GM, it is quite in character!

Re: OOC: Table Talk TWO

Oh well they are comedic fantasy books so obviously a lot of the tropes are played for laughs but trolls are big, dumb and literally made of rock (with diamonds for teeth.) However it turns out that their silicon brains are enormously affected by the temperature - in cold weather they get smarter whereas hot weather slows them down and in some cases stops them altogether, much like how the trolls in The Hobbit are turned to stone by daylight.

Basically up in their natural home in the mountains trolls are plenty cunning, it is just that humans are more familiar with them as dumb brutes because they only encounter them in the cities.

No apologies needed, this is a marathon, not a sprint, hope things are settling down for you, I've had some crazy days of late as well.  I'm trying to adjust to the fact, that might just be normal, it seems to have been that way for the last few years.  Still, I'm lucky compared to most, very blessed.

I'm OK, was waiting for the cleric/medic to weigh in . . . have we waited too long?

Re: OOC: Table Talk TWO

Not too long for me.  Rath has stated he is swamped with stuff, Doc said he was travelling and I fear Nimble may have snuck away in the night (he hasn't logged into the game in nearly a month).  I'll be here just waiting for someone to keep the dialogue going.
