Re: Dark Side of the Moon - Day 10-3

Desiraye feels her strength seep out of her body from the burning damage she just received before the robot was destroyed.  She's barely able to move when the flames are finally extinguished, burning flesh wafting in the air from her wounds and metal burning Hammer.  She tries to bring her rifle to bear on any threat from where she is but, with her wounds, she is almost combat ineffective!  IF she can attack, she will do so.

Utilizing ANY & ALL cover available to her...

Re: Dark Side of the Moon - Day 10-3

As you chase forward toward the northwest corner and around the space shuttle to see where the woman disappeared to, you see whom she was talking to.

Or rather, what she was talking to...

Another combat robot is coming your way.  This one rolls on treads, is 8 feet tall, and has four arms.  Each arm bears a weapon of one type or another, and you see the pointy ends of small rockets sticking up from behind it, indicating it has rocket launchers of some sort.  A glow surrounding the robot also indicates it is electrified and probably is covered in some sort of skeinsuit, albedo suit or the like for protection.

This is not your average combat robot.  This was put here to stop intruders once and for all.

Re: Dark Side of the Moon - Day 10-3

Porter runs to the side of the ship, trying to find some part of it that he can use as cover. "Everyone spread out! Don't let it get more than one of use in a blast. And try to use the ship for cover, and hope it's programmed to limit collateral damage!" After calling out, he dons his gas mask just in case the 'bot has poison or doze grenades.

Once Porter's got some cover, and the robot comes into view, he'll open up on it with the machine gun.

OOC: stats in my previous post, gotta run to class now. Sorry!

Hammer does as Porter suggests, circling around counter clockwise on the spaceship and firing from cover when he has a good shot.

Re: Dark Side of the Moon - Day 10-3

Sorry for the delays. I've been traveling.  I also noticed not a lot of response since the last post with the combat robot.

Porter and Hammer run clockwise around to fire from cover.  Both open up on the combat robot.

Desi is burnt but still in the game, as are Orvo, Kri'lik, and S'Krllk.  The pilot is following slowly behind you, too weak from the torture to fight.

The robot fires from its four arms toward the mouth of the cavern.  Desi, Orvo, Kri'lik and S'Krllk duck back behind cover as lasers, automatic weapons fire, gyrojet rounds, and flak cannon cinders fly by into the wall.  The combat robot is also raising its rockets to fire in that direction.

From the other side, Porter and Hammer fire, hitting the combat robot and doing some damage.  It turns its body (but not the missiles) towards them.  It appears that next round it will be firing on Porter and Hammer with its fire power and at the cave entrance with its missiles.

Re: Dark Side of the Moon - Day 10-3

"Take cover!" Porter yells, although the sound is muffled by his gas mask. He hopes the companions still in the hallway can hear it.

Porter himself moves to another position and tries to find some full cover from the coming robotic onslaught. If he has a chance, he'll try to get aboard the ship.

Orvo keeps running after the mechanic, trusting in his defenses to keep him alive long enough to get both his quarry and to safety.

Desiraye reaches down to try and find her comlink to try and call Doc for help.  She knows she's hit bad and needs help real soon.  "Doc, it's Desi. I need medical ASAP! We're all in a bad way with another huge robot bearing down on us!"

She pokes just enough of her body out to return fire at the combat robot as effectively as she can.

Continuing to utilize ANY & ALL cover available to her...

Re: Dark Side of the Moon - Day 10-3

Desi hits the robot square on, but when its missiles fly, she pulls everyone nearby back into the protection of the cave.  The missiles strike the corner of the cave wall, sending rocks and dust everywhere.  Luckily, no one was hurt.

Kri'lik quickly gives an injection to Desi.  (+22 STA)

The others behind the ship fire at the robot, hitting him twice in the torso.

The robot aims but only fires one carefully placed shot.  This shot hits Hammer in the thigh, burning a painful hole in him.  (-15 STA)  The robot seems hesitant to risk damaging the ship, so it begins going around (chasing) Hammer and those behind the ship.  It appears to be wounded but not disabled.  Some smoke and sparks can be seen as its treads take it quickly -- all too quickly -- toward those hiding by the ship.

Again, Porter scans the ship for a way in. If he sees one, he'll try to get inside. If not, he'll try climbing up on the ship itself and firing down on the robot using the ship's hull as cover.

Re: Dark Side of the Moon - Day 10-3

Porter finds the entryway into the ship and pushes the button.

Desi and Hammer continue firing.  Their fire takes down the combat robot, and its fire goes wide.  Its missile fires deep into the cave, exploding deep into it and rocking the whole station.  You are fairly confident anyone else in the sanitorium would have heard (or felt) that blast, especially since you now here it followed by a cave in that rumbles all around.

With the combat robot down, the large cavern is clear.  Only the shuttle remains.  Luckily, you have a recently fired shuttle pilot with you.

OOC: Assuming the door opens when I push the button...

Porter removes his gas mask in order to be better heard. "The entrance is over here," he calls to the rest of the party.

As the door opens, he resecures his gas mask and readies a doze grenade. Machineguns aren't great for close-quarters combat, and might damage the ship. If the mechanic woman is hiding aboard, he'd rather not have to fill her full of lead anyway. She might have valuable information.

S'Krllk jogs to the downed robot, both to insure it is no longer a threat and to salvage what he can from it. Opening the robot and removing whatever power sources and ammunition he can, he attempts to determine if it is still mobile.

Re: Dark Side of the Moon - Day 10-3

Desiraye gives a loud sigh of relief as the robot is finally taken out.  She knows she hasn't been in this bad of shape in quite awhile, perhaps since Volturnus?  Regardless, there was still some more fighting to be done here.  She disconnects the mostly depleted SEU backpack from her rifle and carefully shrugs it off of her shoulders trying not to injure herself further.  She looks to S'Krllk for support as she attempts to stand and reloads her laser rifle with a fresh 20 SEU clip.

"Roger that Sarge.  You take the lead.  I think I'm reduced to sitting back on this a little due to my current wounds.

Everyone else, switch out clips and mags for weapons and defenses.  We still have a fight ahead of us!"

Porter shrugs, ignoring the burns and wounds he's taken getting this far. That's military life, after all. If he buys it on this rock, at least his sacrifice may help the others reach their goal.

Into the ship he goes.

OOC: Down to 18 Sta myself, but c'est la vie. If Porter dies, I can just roll up a new PC.
