Re: Dark Side of the Moon - The Moon

Orvo runs to the door, finds it locked, and fails miserably when he tries to unlock it.  (Skill check failed.)

Desi is using solvaway on Hammer, which will take a minute.

The intercom announces all around the imminent departure of the shuttle.  If S'krllk meant to scare the commandos into returning to the shuttle, it did not work.

Re: Dark Side of the Moon - The Moon

After failing miserably at opening the door, Orvo returns to Hammer and Desiraye.  "They escaped down a hallway and locked the door behind them-don't think that this group will come back for a while.  But if they do it will be with friends." Orvo calmly sais into his communicator.

As soon as Hammer gets loose of the tangler, he will try to unlock the doors. "Let me try," he says. "I have some skills."

Re: Dark Side of the Moon - The Moon

"Forget the door and the security, we've beaten them. Let's not miss the shuttle."

Porter pauses halfway through untangling the engineer with solvaway. "Do we need to bring her with us, or will she be more trouble than she's worth? That's the question."

In his chronocom, he again calls, "S'Krllk, copy! How much time do we have, and are we sure the shuttle can fly?"

GM Heath - Would it be possible to use solvaway to "cut" the woman out of the tanglers by applying it around her, while still leaving her mostly incapacitated?

Re: Dark Side of the Moon - The Moon

S'Krllk comes out of the shuttle and jogs over. "We're not gonna get that off the ground without finding the missing parts, and I suspect that would be more difficult than just shooting our way out. But they don't know that, and I suspect this shuttle is pivotal to whatever plans they have."
S'Krllk looks around, obviously worried. "If we can set up a distraction here, we might be able to return the way we came."

You can't get the shuttle off the ground without the missing parts.  I'm not sure where the miscommunication happened, but I appreciate the optimism.  :)

OOC: I'm just playing in character. Porter was told we need the parts before we can take off, then told the shuttle will take off soon. He's confused about whether we need the mechanic or not.

Re: Dark Side of the Moon - The Moon

Once Hammer is released, he goes to work on the security door.  His skills are good enough, and he manages to get it opened.  It opens onto an airlock to go deeper into a pressurized area that won't require your masks.

The tunnel curves as it goes north.

OOC to Porter: Cutting the tangler without solvaway for the commando would take a lot of time, since it is sticky and binding every place it touches.  Let's say 10 minutes of cutting.

Hammer follows the tunnel, pistol at the ready.  He has an axe to grind as he still wipes away the sticky tangler grenade residue.

Re: Dark Side of the Moon - The Moon

Most of the party moves on to the room marked 2:

This area contains a radiophone and a subspace radio.  The radio is on a repeated signal being broadcast.  The commandos are not here.  There is a door to the east.

The subspace radio repeats in a female voice:

"This is Stanacha, shuttle pilot at the Sanatorium, trying to reach Artemis Base.  If you read me, please respond."  Three second pause.  "This is Stanacha..."

Hammer will turn off the broadcast and then carefully, with gun at the ready, open the door to the next room slowly.

As Hammer slowly opens the door, you see through the crack that the lights in the far room are turned off and it is deadly silent within.

Porter continues to work on carefully freeing the mechanic from tangler goo without freeing her enough that she can cause too much trouble. It's slow work, but he has a feeling the group will need her to help get the shuttle ready to fly.

OOC: Heads up. My dissertation defense in next week, 11/23. I'll be pretty busy for the next 10 days or so. Hopefully everyone can avoid getting killed without me there to help. :D

Desiraye grabs the wall and reaches for one of the Tangler grenades off of her harness and yells, "PIN'EM DOWN!  THE SHUTTLE PARTS WE NEED MAY BE IN THERE!"

Once the fire goes out from his people, he throws the first of the grenades into the room.

Re: Dark Side of the Moon - The Moon

A strange turn of events ensues.  Hammer fires into the darkness, and hears a grunt of pain.

Orvo runs forward toward the dark room...

Desi throws a tangler grenade into the far room.

Two laser beams fire from the far room:  one misses Hammer, and the other nearly hits Orvo but misses.

You also see two objects fly into the room where you are at.

Almost simultaneously, your tangler grenade goes off in the far room, and their tangler grenade goes off in your room.

Hammer and Desi are caught in the tangler grenade.

Orvo, on the other hand, is caught in Desi's tangler grenade, but so are the commandos.

Now, all of you on both sides are stuck in tangler grenades.

One of the commandos says to his comrade, "Get some solvaway quickly!  We've got to get out of this first."
