Re: Player's Forum 2

Thanks, guys! Knowing my advisor, he wouldn't have let me register for the defense if he wasn't confident in my work. I just need to convince the other four professors.

Heath, how far are we from the armory to rearm?  Was there anything on the shuttle?

Re: Player's Forum 2

The armory is quite a ways away and back into the heart of where the other commandos are.  If you didn't post what you took while in the armory, you can do so now, and we'll still count it.

There were not any weapons on the shuttle.

I have my dissertation defense tomorrow, so I'm pretty busy preparing for that. My split second decision will have to wait. Ironic, no?

No problem.  It's a holiday week anyway so I figure everyone will be pretty busy until next Monday--at least, those in the U.S.

Re: Player's Forum 2

Apologies! My committee gave me two weeks to complete revisions on my thesis. I should finish up today.

So, to refresh my memory, I'm on the ground entangled with the commando who has the piece we need for the shuttle and a bomb is ticking...

If I run into the room, I could try to defuse the bomb...if I can find it right away.

If I try to use solvaway I may be able to free one ally (Orvo, Hammer or Desi) and run, but the other two may die in the blast and the commando gets away.

If I try to wrestle the piece away from tje commando, and I succeed, I can run back to the ship, my three allies likely die, and S'Krllk and I try to battle the bad guys on the moon alone.

Try to get the piece and fail, we all get blown up.

That seems to cover my options...

Re: Player's Forum 2

All those situations would be the difficult ways and most likely get someone killed.  I thought the options would be one of these two:

1) Spend the time wrestling the needed part away from the female commando on top of you and hope that the blast from the bomb doesn't hurt your companions in this room (since the bomb is in the next room)--at least, not too badly; or

2) Disentangle yourself from the female commando and shut the door to the room with the bomb before it goes off to contain the blast to the far room.

And here I was, about to get all heroic and choose my own option #1. But if I can shut the door... (to be continued in the main thread)

Sorry, lately, my time has not been my own.  RL is taking up so much of my time, not my interest in the game!  I hope to update this weekend.

Re: Player's Forum 2

Sorry again for the delay in posting...but I'm not alone in that department so I don't feel too bad. :D

I started DMing a "West Marches" game for my son and a few other people, and the second session was on Sunday. It's my son's first group game with adults. And I'm trying to wrap my head around D&D 5E as a DM (as a player it's a cinch) and wondering why I didn't just run the game with Classic D&D/Labyrinth Lord and save myself the headaches...

Re: Player's Forum 2

That's why I run the old second edition AD&D games (not to mention this Star Frontiers game).  Not enough time to learn a new system.

Re: Player's Forum 2

Sometimes, the classics and the older systems work the best.  I'm trying to get up to 5E now.  I still play a home campaign of 1E, with some modifications.  5E is a very simple system and not horribly unbearable like 4E was/is.

My time has been crap lately too because of work mostly but, I'm able to have a little latitude of having a flash drive and a reader to keep me busy.

Only other Sci-Fi I play is WEG's Star Wars.  One of the easiest systems to learn and play.
