Re: OOC!!!!

Not sure if you follow Game of Thrones, but I keep wondering if Dev is as large as the Mountain, or more like Vin Diesel that is about six four or five.

 Yeah, Yeah, I know. I need a life. :)

Re: OOC!!!!

Nope! This game remains solo unless you say different. Good catch though. Thought she would make a good NPC. Going to use her for a tie in later.

I believe he might just be a mountain-like warrior who looks like Vin Diesel! Cheers

Re: OOC!!!!

Thanks for the clarification. Now I feel bad again, the two players that where left where nice folks, and good rpers. But one has limited access to the internet, and the other is in Australia. Nope, I am still a selfish bastard, keep it solo please. I am having a ball.:)

Re: OOC!!!!

This is hard for me to explain, but most GMs that have players in a Urban setting, just go through the motions, or do the minimal to get the group to the next Dungeon. You actually bring the city alive.  I  hope that makes some sense to you. I am impressed as a player, well done.

In reply to Deverick (msg # 39):

No worries! I like solo games myself for similar reasons you've already stated. As far as urban adventures go I love them as well. I cut my teeth running a 1st Ed AD&D game of a Thieves' World campaign using Chaosium's Thieves' World box set. I ran five characters in a sandbox fashion where they knew each other and could adventure with other if they sought them out. I still love Sanctuary till this day. Cheers

Re: OOC!!!!

In reply to Deverick (msg # 43):

Thank you as well! I have enjoyed it very much!!!!

I have been a GM most of my rping years. AD8D, Flashing Blades, Runequest

All great games which I have both played and ran at some point. Have a great night and day tomorrow. I will get Dev to the Merchant's Guild soon. I really wanted to set up the Old City and it's politics as Borcar's Smithy was there and it's where Dev grew up. I wanted to make a detailed post and was just too tired to do it justice. Thanks again!!! Cheers

PS Meeting Lynn Abby WoW! Even if you didn't know who she was. Great story!!!! Thieves' Wprld are some of my all time favorites!!!! Cheers

Re: OOC!!!!

You knew FGU's Flashing Blades?!?!?! Wow, most don't know what I am talking about when I make mention of that game. Flashing Blades is without a doubt, my all time favorite rping game. I love 17th century France as a background for a game. I ran a campaign for over three years with FB, then another years latter for about two years. I know a lot about the time period, so I was pretty good at it. But I always wanted to be a player in FB but only have had one opportunity on here. The game fizzled soon after I joined.. Oh well, please pardon my flashbacks. lol.

Re: OOC!!!!

hey there! iI wanted to talk about a Flashing Blades campaign I have had in mind for a while now. Don't get your hopes up too high because it would be a while before I could do this but I wanted to run it by you.

Idea is running a Musketeer Campaign based on the three musketeers but not the fictional ones but more on the lines of the historical ones from which the Dumas' characters are based. There really were a D'Artagnan (Charles de Batz-Castlemore), Porthos (Issac De Portau), Athos (Armand de Sillegue d'Athos d'Autevielle), and Aramis (Henri d'Aramitz). Well its getting late and i must be to bed but we can talk/ type about this over time. Cheers

Re: OOC!!!!

Wait a sec, It clearly states in the GM rule book, posting may only be spotty at the beginning of the holiday. Saturday is the official beginning of the holiday weekend. Ergo, you may only be spotty at 12:01 tomorrow. So get posting.

Just kidding....I think. Have a good holiday. :)

Updated under the City Of Greyhawk for the Slum Quarter and such. Remember these are things Dev would know as a native of Greyhawk itself. Cheers

Re: OOC!!!!

About The Flashing Blades Campaign I was thinking letting you play the Historical D'Artangnan.

D'Artagnan et la glorie ont le même linceul

D'Artagnan and glory share the same shroud

Historically D'Artangnan was much older than the other Musketeers. He was well on his way to becoming a Musketeer when the other three, all cousins BTW, made it to Paris to enlist using a favor from M. Treville, then Captain of the King's Musketeers.

D'Artangnan was not related to M. Treville but was introduced to him by his uncle Henri de Montesquiou, Comte d'Artagnan (his mother's brother and the father of the field marshal Pierre de Montesquiou d'Artagnan from whom he adopted the more prestigious name from- D'Artangnan).

His name was Charles de Batz de Castlemore. M. Treville gave the Gascon a letter to join his brother's ,M. de Essarts, regiment- the King's Guards as a Musketeer to prove himself this much is true. M. Treville also knew Charles'/D'Artangnan's brothers- Charles ( the oldest who died fairly young) and Paul (whom M. Treville respected and was a proven soldier within the Musketeers).

So you would start out as a Soldier in the King's Guard with the following:
Advantages: Contact- M. Treville and Lackey (Maybe historical?)

Disadvantages: Duelist (This is true!) and Secret Allegiance (Cardinal Mazarin)

Just the bare bones for now but both the advantages and disadvantages would involve chances for good role play. So what do you think?

Other options would be playing one of the other three:

Porthos (Issac De Portau): Starting out as a Gentleman (applying to become a trooper in M. de Essarts regiment) with the Following:

Advantages: Contact (M. Treville/ his counsin) and Extra Income (Issac is from a well to do family)

Disadvantages: Code of Honor and Compulsive Gambler

Athos (Armand de Sillegue d'Athos d'Autevielle): Starting out as a Soldier in the King's Musketeers

Advantage: Contact (M. Treville/ his cousin)

Disadvantage: Duelist (The real Athos dies in a duel!)

Aramis (Henri d'Aramitz): starting out as a Noble (applying to become a King's Musketeer) with the following:

Advantages: Title (Baron)

Disadvantage: Religious fanatic (He is a Huguenot/ not Catholic and is trying to become a minister not a priest but is still subject to much prejudice)

Cheers

I read over your FB game proposal, and find favor with it. I would be interested in rping  Rochfort, Uhm, what I meant to say was D'Artangnan. ;0)

My favorite version of the Three Musketeers movie was the 1973-4 films. Much fun!

Rochfort... Hmmmmm... maybe that could be arranged. You Know D'Artangnan actually served Cardinal Mazarin in this manner after the Cardinal disbanded the Musketeers. Have to work tomorrow so if I post it will be late. Cheers

We have time to think about it. I really don't mind going another route. I had been researching the real-life Musketeers for a possible game. Though Cardinal Richelieu is out of the picture, Cardinal Mazarin is a able successor and there is as much intrigue as ever. D'Artangnan is torn berween his love of the Musketeers/ De Treville and his service to Mazarin, whom is seen as a way to rise the political latter while still serving the King.

It has been a really long day and I am beat. Will move things along tomorrow. Tal has some advice which Dev may or may not like. Deverick the Bold is about to meet some of the movers a shakers of Greyhawk! Is he ready? Hope you had a great holiday! Cheers
