At first TrapSpringer did not respond, his eyes were closed so he did not see the dwarf motion for him. When Dorian spoke up however TrapSpringer opened his eyes, standing slowly he moved over to the rocks Dorian had motioned too. The kobold left his gear in its pile, arriving at the rock with little more than pants on, crouching the kobold looked up at Dorian nodding his head not really in reply to the dwarf but like it was a nervous tick. “Yes, no, yes!” The kobold seemed a little confused about his name, “My name is Othokent’virlym, but it had to say so TrapSpringer.” The kobold moved around, while not as twitchy as most kobolds, TrapSpringer appeared a little uncomfortable as he talked to Dorian. “TrapSpringer misses others, so looking for more others, he see you so he come.” Trapspringer pointed at the large group outside the cave, easily seen as they approached the hills the cave was in. “TrapSpringer not know you come to this waere but it good dark place to hide so here is TrapSpringer.”

A red clad woman stood near the fringe of the motley band of adventurers, throwing glares at anyone caught in her vision. She'd been working as an apothecary in the camp although she'd gathered a reputation for being unpleasant to be around, owing to her poor grasp of social skills and tendency to tinker for long hours over her strange concoctions. She appeared to be waiting, seeing what the others would do before taking any actions herself. A crossbow was slung across her front, with one hand supporting it.

“Others is nest mates, but they no like TrapSpringer so I go, but TrapSpringer is lonely so here he is.” TrapSpringer looked back at his pile of belongings, “Not want fight, TrapSpringer look meek maybe you no fight.” The kobold turned back to Dorian, the look on his face strange it almost looked like a smile but his features made it hard to tell. When Dorian called out to the others TrapSpringer twitched a little turning his body to face the group he still spoke to Dorian, “TrapSpringer is Darastrix, he is dragon not lizard.” TrapSpringer’s smile disappeared, replaced by something as close as he could get to a frown.

Dorian's conversation with the kobold known as TrapSpringer had held up the rest of the caravan.  None of the scouts were taken by surprise with the appearance of the kobold and the rest of the cave held no surprises, apart from the amount of guano that covered the cool stone floor.  The scouts were certain they could see no threats awaiting them further in the cave and they should be able to move through the cave and into the tunnels with little trouble.

Surprised grumblings from the rest of the caravan could be heard as the dwarf and kobold conversed.  The deep gnome scout, Grimble, considered TrapSpringer with distaste.

"You always have to watch these creatures.  They'll steal and eat anything that isn't nailed down!" spat Grimble.  Things were going to get ugly if this situation didn't get resolved soon.

Further back Targ Boulderhammer wandered towards the elven paladins and the other members of the expeditions leadership.  He handed Aspis, Oni Solarin and Syrava the same carved stone tokens as had been handed to the others earlier.

"Whats the hold up?" asked the gruff cleric before he got a good look at TrapSpringer.  "By me beard!  Is that a scaly one talking to Hammer?  Should I tell the others to get ready to fight?" growls Targ to the paladins and others, his right hand gripping the handle of his hammer.

The snow-skinned aasimar had been keeping quiet for the most part, she was a little worried the others might not like her, given her unconventional appearance and the company she kept. She accepted the stone token given by Targ, bowing her head gently. Any assistance was welcome, and she gave him a warm, charming smile in return. She slipped the token into a pouch, then looked ahead to where Dorian and the kobold stood.

"Curious... A lone kobold?" She mused, and her eidolon, the devil Xiru, stepped to her summoner's side, long bone claws clickng against her segmented plates. "Arrogant, stupid or wants something. That's how kobolds work," she said nochalantly. Syrava frowned slightly and nudged the devil in the side, who rubbed at the area as if pretending it hurt. "Don't be rude, maybe he wants to help..."

Pirlouie looked at the lone Kobold. Then pondered for a second about the mission while stroking Sally's fur.

"Well, we were told to approach the denizens of the underworld with diplomacy, i see no reason to make an exception with this little fellow. Sally does not see him as a threat, and he looks friendly enough. Besides, if we encounter other kobolds, he could probably help us make a better contact with them."

He turned to Trapspringer looking at him with pride. He actually took the time to find a sunbeam to stand in so he could shine as he talked.
"Trapspringer! Well met and welcome. If you are to join us, you should know we are on a very important and dangerous mission! We will explore and take back the dark world from the clutches of evil! Are you ready to face countless hordes of monsters and unspeakable atrocities? Will you stand with us when the time comes to test our mettle and risk your life to protect our group?"
He stood tall and waited for the answer.

TrapSpringer growled a little at Grimble’s comments but he could not argue with them, remaining seated TrapSpringer slumped slightly as both the gnome and old dwarf made their opinions know. TrapSpringer never looked back at his meager pile of gear, he just waited for the group’s verdict.

Aspis did not hesitate to move closer to the creature. She examined it from an almost uncomfortable closer. At the end she decide to like it.
"O MY GOD, it is a mini Dragon. It can talk, looks lovely and he smells.... Okay never-mind this one.
I hope we will keep him, I support it try him out as a guide, he knows the area much better than us.
I am sure he will not cause us trouble."

The alchemist grunted and strode forwards, she wasn't fond of speeches, but she was irritated by everyone fawning over Trapspringer: he was a thieving little kobold like the rest of them, what more did they need to know... "Are you all done fussing over the lizard?" she asked, cocking an eyebrow "Or are we intending to spend the rest of the day outside this cave?" she was scowling now, impatient and irritable, most of her anger in the form of a sharp glare was directed towards the loud little gnome and the excitable airhead that was Aspis.

In reply to Pirlouie Bartleby (msg # 36):

TrapSpringer stared at the halfling for a second, sorting Pirlouie words before replying. “You speak fast.” The kobold continued to stare at Pirlouie, “Countless hordes sounds like home, what is atrocities and why can’t we speak of them?” TrapSpringer had trouble with the word atrocities as he continued to speak to the Halfling. “TrapSpringer has good metal it is strong,” The kobold pointed at his gear looking from Pirlouie to his gear and back. “TrapSpringer looking for group to help if you want it he will help if not TrapSpringer will go.”

Moving forward to where the kobold stood surrounded by the scouts and assorted others, Targ Boulderhammer fixed the kobold with a stern glare.

"I ain't one to trust no scaly folk, but this here token of Torag,"
says the cleric as he holds one of the stone carved tokens up before TrapSpringers eyes "draws me to you, and that means Torag has a place for you in this expedition." The stern dwarf hands the token to the kobold before closing his heavily muscled hand over the kobolds claw. "Your with us now scaly one.  By the beard of Torag don't make me regret this."

Then Targ turns to those closest to him and barks"Right then shouldn't we be underground by now?!"]

The expedition slowly starts to get underway again.

TrapSpringer took the offered token, in a low voice “Thank you.” The kobold looked at the others around him before wrapping the token around one of his wrists. With apparent acceptance, smattered with a little contempt it looked like TrapSpringer was going with the group. Hurrying TrapSpringer shrugged into his armor, slinging a small bundle over his shoulder the kobold stood ready to travel. TrapSpringer had a dagger strapped to one arm, a crossbow dangling from a sling over his shoulder and a spear clutched in his hands. Looking to Targ and Dorian TrapSpringer spoke to them, “Where you want me?”

Elora with her Glaive swung over her shoulders eyes up and down the scaly tiny creature. She chews on her lip as she finds herself trying to find the right words to say. She had never parlayed with such a creature before.

The sudden enthusiasm of Aspis made the elven woman chuckle, hiding her expression behind the back of her hand. With the creature accepted to the group with the Cleric's approval, the Elven woman bowed her head at him. "Welcome, Trapspringer. If your name is something of a hint, maybe we should keep you near the front in case you can spot something we would miss."

"Well dear TrapSpringer you can as well walk with me for a while, I am very interested to know what can you teach us about the caves below. Not to mentioned this will give time for the others to know you more.
They are all good guys, but I think you have to work hard to make "some" of us less prejudiced about you."

Vangelaine had held back, reserving judgement as they first met the Kobold, TrapSpringer. Now she came alongside Elora, who had complimented her earlier, in the shuffle of the Kobold's discovery, she hadn't had a chance to reply, but she smiled at the elf now.

"Have you worked with the priests of Torag before?" she began, cautiously. She'd spent enough time on the road that she was out of practice socially, so "talking shop" came easier than personal banter. "I've not, but this one seems levelheaded enough."

TrapSpringer perked up as the three females seamed to except him, his slightly startling version of a smile returned to his face only to be replaced by a crest fallen appearance as Aspis’ question about the cave final registered. “This not TrapSpringers cave,” The kobold tried out the new word. “TrapSpringer only find it after finding you.” TrapSpringer looked truly sadden that he could not answer Aspis’ question noticeably stilling as he waited for her rebuke.

Pirlouie smiled. The first diplomacy encounter was a success! They even gained an ally!
"Welcome Trapspringer! I think you would be at your best in the front as a scout. I'm your backup, so if anything bad happens, i want you to retreat to the rest of the group."

He approached him and shook his hand. He then motioned to the wolf.
"Also, this beautiful beast is Sally. She's as sweet as honey, scratch her behind the ears and you'll soon be best friends."

Targ was behind him, getting impatient, and the rest of the group was also eager to continue.
"Hum... right then, let's go, we can't get tangled up for too long, our supplies are limited and who knows if we will find anything edible in these caves. Let's take the lead!"

Pirlouie hopped on back on Sally and they entered the dark cave.

With everyone’s agreement that the font is where he would be the most help, and no apparent reprisal coming from Asips, TrapSpringer prepared to join Dorian. During the first and subsequent days TrapSpringer roamed a little ahead of Dorian straying ten to fifteen feet in front of the dwarf and moving left to right as the tunnel permitted.

TrapSpringer spent any of his free time that first day talking with Targ about Torag and while the dwarf was happy to discuss his god, Trapspringer was mostly interested in knowing what had to be given to Torag to prevent him from eating the dwarf. This interest applied to any that professed worshiping a god after the first day, TrapSpringers focus the whole time being how do you keep each god from consuming you.

The summoner walked near the middle of the groups, watching those brave souls scout ahead, watchful in case of danger so she could lend a hand as soon as needed, but she felt somewhat distracted. She hadn't really been around such colourful characters in a while, and found her gaze casting abount to the other members of the expedition. Dwarves, of course, then there was that curious cooper-scaled kobold. She wondered why he might hazard working with people who often saw his kind as enemies.

Then there was the dark-skinned and dour lady sporting a crossbow, whom she'd heard was a healer, but she seemed as likely to shoot you in the ankle as heal you...

That bubbly human girl, the halfling and his wolf who had seemed quite friendly, but she had refrained from socialising too much in camp, she was somewhat quiet by nature and a little withdrawn thanks to her lineage. There were also the two elves, both paladins, what were the odds? She had enjoyed watching Elora dance in the morning, she was graceful and pretty, and she seemed to know it.

While Syrava's eyes wandered, Xiru, ever the soldier, stalked along beside her on bony claws, yellow eyes piercing into the darkness in search of anything that threatened her one friend in all of creation.

Like Syrava, Oni had also taken to the middle of the group, satisfied that the expedition was now underway. The amulets they had been given were rather impressive, she couldn't deny, however at the same time they were somewhat disappointing: She could see perfectly in pitch darkness, of course, but without colour - a lousy payoff for an alchemist such as herself who's work required the careful and precise mixing of various chemicals and magic and monitoring her creations through their pigmentation.

As she strode forward, she occasionally pulled a vial from the folds of her clothing, unstopped it, and sniffed it, usually making a face to indicate the foul odours within. Some of the concoctions on her person were positively luminescent, appearing disturbingly bright in the grey-scale scape of darkvision. Every now and then, she twisted her head around, cocked her head and took air in through her nose, trying to sense anything out of the ordinary.

11:12, Today: Oni Solarin rolled 25 using 1d20+5.  Perception.
