Re: More Guns and Violence
Ethan’s training had included warnings about ‘tunnel vision’ and ‘audio exclusion’ as well as ways to counter them. He had years of experience in using those techniques and most of the time, they worked. Tonight was one of those times they didn’t work although to be fair, they might have, had he the presence of mind to actually use them. Unfortunately the combat medic’s mind was entirely focused on getting to his wife as rapidly as he could, rather than paying attention to all the little things that one should when in sprawling, chaotic combat situation like this. That is why he was not only completely surprised by the sudden appearance of the naked man, he was also unable to avoid their collusion.
He landed in a sitting position, his hands on either side of his hips as he shook his head and got his first good look at the man. Despite the mist, he could see the pronounced canines clearly as they stood out against the darkness. Ethan knew that his laser rifle would be of little use against the vampire so instead of pulling its trigger when he brought his hands up, aiming the rifle at the monster, he left his finger indexed alongside the weapon. A bolt of near invisible force shot out of his finger, aimed at the vampire’s head. Ethan hoped that the bolt of force would be enough to knock the vampire on his back, which would give him time to draw his silver knife.
