Actually - as of just now - all players seem to be set.

I'll be generating the initial events shortly.

Re: Discussion Zone

Hey folks - I am starting to upload some of the sample Unique Units - so that people can get an idea of what each type of Trait can offer.

If anyone is needing help setting up their first week and writing their first orders - please, please, please - ask away!

Re: Discussion Zone

Well, I think I know what I'd like to do, but I would like some help in how to actually put the orders down so I'm communicating clearly.

Additionally, do I need to do anything about/for/with the opening I got?

Re: Discussion Zone

Just write in your pieces with what they're going to do.
Ex)

NameStartActionTargetEndNotes
Leader 1 Assist
Leader 2 Diplomacy  Buy Items
Unit 1 Build  Barracks

The start space is which grid space they start at this week.  Target is which grid space they are going to.  End space is where they are ending their turn (usually back where they started).

The opening is just to give you some RP.  You can write a narrative response like a roleplaying game.  It tends to make the game more interesting than just throwing orders and results back and forth.  Plus, since the quests tend to be tailored plot-wise to the RP, it allows the GM to tailor make some of the RP to your characters.  It's pretty cool.

Exactly everything LTC Rajesh Singh said.

If you would like specific help - please feel free to use your private OOC thread (Out of Character) to talk with me directly on how to write-up your actions.

Re: Discussion Zone

Hey gang - I hope everyone is doing well!  Sorry that some of the responses were so late on Friday, work-is-what-work-is.

That being said: if anyone is needing help posting their responses, please let me know.  I know it's not completely easy or obvious to grasp all of the rules at once (and, I really don't expect anyone to.)

Some key points: the responses are responding to the new information presented to you - that is: if you find an offer for recruitment, receive trade offers, or training offers: your Response Post (that is the 2nd post on a given turn) allows you to respond to those offers and take advantage of them: you do not return on a subsequent week to get them.

That having been said - this concept is clearly not immediately intuitive - how would you know to what you can and cannot respond?  To that end: beginning on week 3 - an "*" will be placed next to segments to which you are expected to respond. (such as adding XP and the like.)

Re: Discussion Zone

In reply to Narrator (msg # 47):

Mostly I just need help remembering I need to do it <.<
I keep only remembering it when it's inconvenient (technically including now - I'm sleepy and just want to go to bed, not do stat-work - but I'll do it anyway since I've waited too long)

Don't think you can do much to fix that.

But I'm sure the players who weren't already in two Rounds will appreciate it being more intuitive.

Re: Discussion Zone

I hope so Ruree! =)

And, yes - I know what you mean about doing the stat-work =)

Oh, and all - if you've recruited Units or added rooms (or both!) don't forget to actually put those things in your lairs (such as putting Unit names into the Barracks slots.)

Re: Discussion Zone

Hey folks - apologies for how late into Friday it took me to get turn updates.  I'll try to get those done sooner.

To that end - as people can get their updates handled - I'll put in the next turn indicator.  Thank you.

Re: Discussion Zone

For those folks who have not updated their responses yet - remember, this is the fourth week, which means it's upkeep week - after you process whatever gains/losses from the turn, then calculate the amount of upkeep paid.

(Most Units/Extras are: their Upkeep cost (usually gold) + 1 Foodstuffs (per Unit, Extras don't usually require food).)

Also - if anyone was curious on the "TBD" (To Be Determined) indicators when you first find new Settlements: you will only find out what those TBDs are once you actually trade-with them.  As the Settlement grows, the additional item/resource will become available for trade.

Re: Discussion Zone

Hey folks - it looks like quite a few people (myself included) got a little behind this week.

We're going to continue handling Week 3, Month 2, Year 1 for this coming week as we help newer folks get used to the turn structure a little more as well as help people catch up from real live (especially you people who take difficult classes in school!) =).

In reply to Narrator (msg # 56):

Wait, did I get behind?  I thought I was caught up, but I've literally just come back from over twelve hours in the library today studying for my exam tomorrow.  I've been a little groggy this week because of the spartan studying, admittedly, so I may have screwed up things and not realized it.

Idk if you were, but I did. Fell off a roof on Thursday of last week, and then Monday of this week. Nothing major, but man I have been sore, and when I have been going to bed almost as soon as I got home...yeah I was slow and delayed. My apologies.

Re: Discussion Zone

Hey folks - just a reminder: this is the beginning of week 4, month 2.  I know some folks have already had that turn post up and even responded, but, now we're officially there.  I think most folks are caught-up/getting caught-up pretty nicely; so, we'll be resolving turns pretty early this week.

Also, I'm finally back from traveling a bit (wife dragged me along to attend some weddings, blahblah), so hopefully I'll be a little more "present."
