at 05:28 | [Side] Run 聲gel, run! (8/29/15)Angry with the situation, himself, and just about everything, 聲gel runs. He pushes himself striving for fatigue and again fails to find it. Once he's far enough from the main campus, he lets out a wordless shout of rage. Eventually he spots a large rock and stops to turn it into smaller rocks with his bare hands. Still the rage, the frustration, and the energy struggle to escape and he runs.
A small lake, or a pond - he isn't sure what the difference is, lies in front of him. He stopped here without thinking. He's not even sure where here is at the moment. The water is still and inviting. He wades out into the water enjoying the feel of the cool wetness on his skin. Finally when he's waist deep, he dives in and tries to swim.
He is confronted with another side effect of his change. He doesn't float, not even close. He pushes off of the bottom and tries to swim. He reaches the surface briefly but the water simply can't support him and he sinks back to the bottom. He sits on the bottom for a minute holding his breath. A small fish investigates the intruder but quickly swims away when 聲gel tries to touch it. Three minutes underwater and his chest starts to burn with the need for air. He stands and discovers he's too deep. Panicking he jumps and gets a lungful of fresh air. He jumps again and figures out the way to shore.
聲gel walks out of the pond covered in mud and a few bits of water plants. His anger is gone washed away by the memory of his panic and fear. He walks slowly for a time looking for familiar ground.

at 15:19 | [Side] Run 聲gel, run! (8/29/15)聲gel doesn't get very far before a portly later middle-aged man in blue coveralls waves at him and calls out as he approaches, "Hey! You alright?"
He's coming from the direction of the windmills, and 聲gel can see a white pickup truck with some kind of logo on the doors parked in front of them. The same logo appears in miniature on the man's chest. 聲gel doesn't recognize the man, nor the company he apparently works for.

"I'm 聲gel, a student at the school. Who are you?"

Larry starts to lead 聲gel back the way he had come and after a few steps he asks, "What were you doing over there, anyway?"

at 21:01 | [Side] Run 聲gel, run! (8/29/15)聲gel follows the man. "My abuelo taught me to run off my anger and stress. Unfortunately it doesn't really work anymore. I got angry again and was trying to burn it off when that didn't work, I tried swimming. That seems to have worked."
As Larry hoses him down, he asks a few of questions. "How many turbines are on the campus? Do they provide all of power the school uses? Are you a contractor or do you work for the school?"

(8/29/15)"Just hold still a minute," Larry says as he starts up the hose and helps 聲gel get the mud off, "There's just these three turbines, dressed up nicely kinda like windmills so they got a nice look to them, and so far as I know that's the only power source for this compound. I work for the company that manufactures and assembles them, so I don't really know much about your school, other than the fact that Doctor Henningsen is a bit of an odd bird. Nice guy, though."
Without skipping a beat he asks, "What's an ah-bway-low? Is that mexican? I don't speak mexican, you see."

(8/29/15)"Ah, sorry, we don't have too many folks around here that aren't white or Mexican, and we tend to keep to ourselves unless you go into the city," Larry says genuinely, "Sounds like your grandfather is a good man, though. My dad had similar ideas on anger management. He bought me a big ol' punching bag when I was a teenager."
Having gotten most of the mud and gunk off, Larry turns the hose down to a smaller trickle and offers it to 聲gel to use as he sees fit for the rest of it, then takes a seat on the bumper of his truck, "Guess some things don't change, huh? High school sucks for everybody, but I guess it's a lot worse for you kids."

"One girl is made of living glass and she's had run-ins with people who liked breaking her. She doesn't need anything like that happening again."
He nods to Larry's truck. "You offered me a ride earlier, for the sake of your suspension, I'm going to have to say no thanks. I don't look different, but I'm a lot heavier than I used to be."
