The thread for 聲gel and Jeremiah's meeting with Doctor Henningsen on Thursday evening, September 3rd.



A few days after the incident in the gym, 聲gel and Jeremiah are asked to come to Doctor Henningsen's office. When they arrive, a man they don't recognize is there with the Doctor. He's an older gentleman with short steel coloured hair and a clean shaven face, wearing the dress uniform of the United States Army. There are lots of medals and such on his chest. There's a single star on his collar.

Jeremiah doesn't say a word to 聲gel, which is nothing new. He does pause when he sees the general, however, and mutters something vulgar under his breath.

聲gel steps into the room. He glances at Jeremiah but says nothing. His attention is drawn to the star on the general's uniform. "What did you need doctor?"

"Come in and have a seat. You're not in trouble now, so you can relax. This is General Hargraves, a friend of mine, who runs a sister program of sorts to this school. He has an opening in his program, and given the events of the other day, I thought maybe one or both of you might be interested in transferring over there," the Doctor explains casually.

"What kind of program do you have General?" 聲gel asks without looking at the general. He continues to focus on Dr. Henningsen. He tries to get a feel for the doctor's opinion about this other program.

"It's not too different from a boarding school. You get to live on the base, eat in the mess and we inflict a military structure on your weekdays, but you have the weekends to do as you please, so long as you behave yourself. We'll give you a uniform, but you're not being drafted. It's sort of an extension of the JROTC program. We even let you shoot rifles now and again, which always seems to be a hit," the General says with some amusement.

"It's completely voluntary, but from what the Doctor told me earlier, I think you boys might benefit from the additional structure in your day."



Doctor Henningsen wasn't kidding when he called the General a friend, so far as 聲gel can tell. He seems to genuinely think this offer might be interesting and / or valuable to 聲gel and Jeremiah.

聲gel looks at the general. "Thanks but no thanks General Hargraves. I appreciate the offer, but my abuelo would kill me if I signed on with the Army right now. Things might change, but for now I'd like to stay here.

"That said, if Dr Henningsen is okay with it, I would like to visit your campus for a time in the future. Do you have a summer program or something like that? I was thinking about joining the National Guard after high school."

"We haven't set it up yet, but I'm intending to have something like that. We didn't even start putting all of this together until long after the Doctor here had broken ground on his project, so we're playing catch up a lil," he says.

"We have one, and that Playstation or whatever the other type is called. I don't know anything about that stuff, but the kids we have in the program already were really excited, so I think it must be the latest one people are crazy for," the general says with a shrug, "You can keep yours in the lockup in your barracks and pull it out on the weekends."

聲gel looks right at Jeremiah and says, "Jeremiah, I know we don't get along. And I'm sure it's partly my fault. But don't feel like you have to leave. I know Tony's a bit scared of both of us right now. But I'm sure he'll get over it if you give him time."
