This is the thread for Blake's conversation with Doctor Henningsen, in his office, on Friday, September the fourth - after dinner.
Although Blake stalked out of the dining hall earlier, he soon realizes that now might be the best chance to corner Dr. H and get something out of him. It's the end of the week, after all, and the awkward man has clearly been busy.
The Doctor's office is occupied when Blake gets there, and he can guess using his infravision that the occupants are the Doctor, Dennis, and David. A few minutes after he arrives, the door opens and Dennis steps out with David not far behind. Dennis nods to Blake in that way men do to acknowledge each other.
David is standing up a bit straighter as he walks, and manages to give Blake a weak facsimile of the same gesture.

After they've left, he steps forward and raps smartly on the door frame and calls in; "Doctor? I wonder if I might steal a few minutes of your time?"

"As I'm sure you know, I've been pretty much cut off from the goings on in the world, since my... change. These big hands aren't much good with modern electronics and all. And the other thing of course." He gives his head a small shake, visibly brushing the thought aside. "Anyway, some of the other students got to poking around on the internet, and they tell me you've been campaigning basically on our behalf; is that right?"

"So.. no special protections, military interest, and as many of us as could be tracked down... This place is a dressed up internment camp, isn't it?"

"I understand your cynicism, Blake, but there would be no need for a charade, much less one of these proportions, if all we wanted to do is put all the mutants on a reservation or something. This is a school, one that exists to help pave the way for the future, no matter what that takes."

We were very lucky to be able to get Johanna on such short notice, and now David is also leaving us. The Department of Education wants us to complete an academic year with ten students, and even though we have over a thousand to choose from, I just don't know how we're going to make this work at this rate. It doesn't count if we go through all thousand kids in the one year," the Doctor says, deflating somewhat.

"It's public but not very public. I went to a meeting in San Hares to try and soothe over any ruffled feathers, and that was a disaster. I'm certain I would have been injured if Dennis had not intervened. Other than that, the most important person who knows about us is probably a friend of mine, General Lewis Hargraves, in the army. He's the man behind their own mutant youth academy, and probably has more to do with the current lack of internment camps than any other person in the country."

I have no interest in going over to the military; that's a real long way to get to where I wanna be."
"Sorry, getting off topic. Anyway; what I'm getting at is this: I know people who know people. Its how we can start making more progress here. I can help, and I want to. But, I need to know more about what's going on here, so I don't talk to the wrong people."
Blake is putting off an energy of excitement here, he's clearly invested in what he's saying, and he's talking with his hands a bit too. "So how about this; we table this for now, and I'll get out of your hair. I've taken up too much of your time as it is. Next week, we can meet sometime after classes, and see if we can't come up with a plan. Sound good?"
