Re: The Forest Primeval

Returning to the 'cloak' room once more, you find the ancient door held in place but it did not appear to be latched in any manner.  A few good heaves and the hinges give way; their squeals echo down the hallway to points unknown.  As the door finally opens, another long hallway sits before.  The dust appears rather thick and easily swirls with the slightest of movements.  The door itself seemed to suffer from simple neglect.  It had a solid, albeit rusty, bolt lock still in place and a large metal latch rested against the back wall; two large metal slats sitting on opposite sides of the door would have been its cradle.

"I'll go first if you don't want to." the barbarian said looking to Ondrea. He waited briefly to see what her opinion was.

"No I opened it, here we go." She steps into the hall and begins to walk down it. Keeping an eye out for anything that seems not right.

Larzander followed Ondrea but gave her room to move freely, and gave himself enough room to use his sword without endangering his friend.

Hammer in one hand, and wine in the other.  Right behind everyone, near the rear.  At the very rear, if the full size people, will allow.

Re: The Forest Primeval

The hallway, for all intensive purposes, is identical to the previous.  The cut of the stone, the height and width, it was exactly the same.  Creeping along, carefully watching for signs of a trap or ambush, you finally arrive at the end and are confronted by another large, wooden door.  This one, however, had a square cutout with set-in bars, allowing you to peer beyond.  Beyond the doorway you see a medium sized, round chamber.  The far wall appears to be covered in pegs of some kind.  Straining to look, it seems that another doorway exists on the back wall, farthest down to your right.

Their is a large rusted handle that doesn't want to move easily, although you don't believe it's locked.  The door itself doesn't seem to have much give either.

Waiting for the full size people to open the door, Stoney is trying hard to finish this wineskin off.
"Put your back into it Ondrea!  Want me or Boris, the little people to come and show you how to do it?"

Boris has a look at the pegs to see if he can figure out what they were used for. Practice climbing? Clothing storage? Gigantic pachinko action?

Re: The Forest Primeval

With a liberal amount of pressure the door, much like the previous, finally gave way and sent a painful shrieking sound ricocheting around the chamber.  Clearly, it had not been opened in a great while.

Studying the room and what remnants of its' former occupants left behind you believe this room once housed a changing station and that the pegs were used to hold some sort of outfit.  As to what you can't say definitively...perhaps there existed a hot spring nearby or a temple with this being a room to house the vestments.

Ondrea tried to block out the noise and what it had the potential to attract to the party as she looked over the room and its contents. Seeing no obvious door she began to look for a hidden or secret entrance.

Stoney covers his ears as the door creeks open.
"SHHHHHHH!  You want everyone to know we are here?"

Door now open, Stoney simply peers his head through the doorway, inspecting the room with his eyes.

"I am not going in there first!"

In reply to Larzander Gunderzen (msg # 332):

The crude wooden pegs seemed to be for holding clothing, what he expected. This was perhaps a cloak room, with this being an alternative entrance to the outside. Well, only one way to find out!

Buckler in one hand, sword in the other, Boris came in behind Larz. "Here, let me hold the torch. If someone comes to investigate they will come from behind. Friend Stoney, will you kindly keep an eye on that direction?"
