In reply to Boris Underhill (msg # 137):

Larz relaxed slightly when there wasn't anyone to fight lurking behind the platform. He looked around to see if he noticed anything out of place.

Re: The Forest Primeval

You find that the lone set of tracks that first entered this chamber, seem to have vanished from directly in front of the platform.  No other tracks, save your own, can be discerned in the dust covered floor.  Even the dust on the top of the platform sits undisturbed.

Ondrea looks to move the top of the platform. First she checks the sides and the lip for a switch of some type that perhaps moves the stone.

Boris looked up at the ceiling, perhaps there was some mechanism up there? Something else like ropes or pulleys?

He pulled off a torch to light from Larz's brand in order to shed more light on the situation.

Re: The Forest Primeval

While the extra torch light is appreciated in such a dark and forbidding place, it fails to illuminate any further details.  The ceiling, for all practical reasons, appears to be carved of solid stone.  Ondrea, however, while searching around the sides of the platform, finds a small group of stone squares that don't appear to be attached to the platform base (at least at surface level).  Peering closer, they appear to have been carved to resemble being just another part of the platform, but any dust that had settled on them had recently been swept off.

Ondrea crotches down to look at the squares. "I think I may have found something." She looks to see if there is any other markings or obvious sequence that they are to be used in order to open the stone table.

"Sweet bugger all I'm afraid.

"Ondrea, what have you there?

"Larz, kindly guard our backs, make sure no one comes up the stairs?"

Boris used the torch to illuminate the design Ondrea was looking at. "Push at it, yeah?"

Larzander shrugged his shoulders then nodded. Couldn't he tell the barbarian was already doing that?

"You two be careful, if it's trapped..." he tailed off not really wanting to think of the consequences.

"Wait, maybe we should simply wait to see if something comes or goes from there.  Htat way we dont risk our own necks on a boobie trap."

Re: The Forest Primeval

Each of the tiles seems to have something etched into it.  Some appear to be creatures, of a sort, while others simply possess symbols of which you are not familiar.  In total, there are 9 such stones.

To tell the truth, Boris couldn't really tell what Larz was doing before, but now it seemed clearer he was keeping a rear watch.

"Ah, you know something about traps? Please, be my guest!" Boris checked the tiles to see if they were dangerous in some way, making sure that Larz could get in if he wanted to.

Boris briefly inspects the tiles and declares that they are safe, as far as he can tell.  By now, you've also noticed that, etched around the side of the platform, are several of the same images found on the tiles.

Re: The Forest Primeval

Looking at the decoration around the stone Ondrea tried to work out if there was an order to the figures that flowed from one image to the next and somehow corresponded with the buttons.

If she came up with something she would let the others know before trying it out.

Ondrea Avalor rolled 12 using 1d20.  Intelligence =  12.

After standing in the background, and sipping on some drink Stoney now has a little liquid courage pulsing through his veins.
"Let me see those symbols."
Waltzes over and gets very close to the buttons.
"Here see this, just press this one, everyone stand back!"
Pushes and tries to move one of the buttons.

18:42, Today: Stoney Applesmith rolled 11 using 1d20.  for ?

Re: The Forest Primeval

As Ondrea continues her inspection, she begins to see, at least she believes, a pattern of some kind emerging.  Perhaps with a few more minutes time she might be able to figure out the pattern.  Turning to inform the others, she is interrupted as Stoney marches forward and presses one of the stones inward.  An audible click can be heard from somewhere below you.

Ondreas' attempt at moving the stone platform proved futile as the massive stone slab neither budged nor shifted in any fashion.  No additional sounds can be heard as you pause momentarily.
