Omaron nods, accepting the halfling's voice in his head as though he hears other voices all the time. He carefully approaches the wall, looking it over carefully for any weak areas for better leverage.

The make-shift wall while fairly sturdy would not be impossible to break. Marik hears nothing from beyond it.

OOC: You can try to break it - strength check - OR attack it

Marik turn to Filimena and nod the head in approval. He mimic the action of listening by putting his palm next to his right ear, before taking his hand and mimicking a flat line in the air.

Re: Chpt 1.4 - Jzadirune

Marik study the wall and think for a moment. A good charge from Rani could probably break it, but maybe they could pull it apart piece by piece in a more discreet fashion. It would take more time, but it could be worth it if they could have a chance to surprise their prey. Besides, it would take some time for Filimena to complete her ritual and Raszire to arrive, and there doesn't seem to be any immediate threat waiting for them on the other side of the wall.

Marik nods to the dwarf and open one of the bags on the side of the large panther. He gets out a long rope, with a grappling hook attached. He throw the hook to Omaron, letting him do as he see fit with it, and attach part of the rope to Rani's saddle. He takes the end of the finely tressed hempen and put it in front of the panther mouth to bite.

[Language unknown: "He, ei, sadi m ngch... she. M butne os pa ec preilltio"] he whisper to her ear.

Omaron catches the rope and begins tying it to the pieces of the wall that will be easiest to pull apart and weaken the wall at the same time.

Re: Chpt 1.4 - Jzadirune

Deciding to let the dwarf lead the effort, Marik finalize the complicated knot tying the rope to the saddle. Rani grumble lowly, chewing a bit on the end of rope she's holding. Marik continue to whisper her instructions.

[Language unknown: "Tin Wh thil str ncediniou, ich prwe prllsa manfortra orehouhatnte. Us ck urplno notat urarniee ntivireau, her u me ne en eve liom com verareyin p fitrfo chiv. N ulpr ma eienc os case ac ore shemenons esous stiek a aikor o ei te."]

The panther growl something, muffled by the bit of rope between her teeth. Marik pet her and scratch her ear in response.

Marik then turn and await for Omaron signal.

OOC: Rani will assist Omaron and give him advantage on his check.

Re: Chpt 1.4 - Jzadirune

Filimena looks back at the dragonborn and finds herself suddenly reconsidering her plan. That’s right, he has the human with him, she thinks. Would a floating this be able to bear their weight together? How much does his kind even weigh? She frowns, abashed and irritated at the doubt that now clouds her mind.

The elf and the dwarf are attempting to take the wall down now, slowly, she says to him after a while, glancing momentarily back at Marik and Omaron to see what they are doing. Perhaps, if you’re not sure about being able to cross stealthily, we could wait and see what happens on that front first?

Omaron finishes tying the rope around various protuberances and and loose pitomns used to erect the makeshift wall. He wraps the rope around his strong hand, then silently counts down on his fingers for Marik. At zero, he strains against the wall, trying to at least pull enough of the wall down for them all to rush through.

Re: Chpt 1.4 - Jzadirune

With Omaron and Rani pull the makeshift wall comes crashing down. The racket of the demolition goes echoing through the halls of the enclave.

Beyond the now fallen wall, the group sees an enormous chamber with a ceiling that soars to a height of forty-five feet at its peak.  Two great marble pillars support wooden balconies fifteen feet above the chamber’s west and east wings.  Two iron-wrought spiral staircases – located in the southeast and southwest corners – connect the balconies to the ground floor.  The furnishings on the ground level suggest some sort of assembly area.  Desks occupy much of the area, although a few boxes and crates fill various corners and nooks.  An eight-foot-diameter wooden gear hangs from the ceiling at the north end of the chamber, suspended by a pair of great iron chains.  A bright light burns in the hollow center of the huge gear, illuminating a large mosaic of interconnected gears painstakingly painted on the ceiling and walls of the room.  The singular light casts many shadows throughout the chamber, and the faint sound of clattering gears resonates from somewhere not too far away.

OOC: no reason for Raszire left behind the group, it would've taken a few minutes for the rope to be tied off

"Well, so much for discretion" he thinks, as he turn and exchange a look with Omaron.

He pat Rani and find a morcel of dried venison meat in his hunting bag he gives to the panther in thanks. He then guide her toward the entry, as he reel back the rope and put it in a bundle (still leaving it attached to the saddle however).

As he gets closer to the dwarf, he take a long look at the great chamber, examining the walls and the ceiling.

"Those...dented wheels they drew on the walls." he whisper to the dwarf. "Interconnected. What do they mean? Are they the mechanisms for the doors, the bridge...or the constructs?"

He hears footsteps behind them and turn. Raszire!...Good timing. Marik lift a hand in salutation, before inviting him to enter with them.

"Come...You'll want to see this." he whisper, as the dragonborn approach.

"I see nothing, Raszire," Omaron answers the easiest question first. "This room appears to be a schoolroom or engineering chamber. The markings on the walls are just that, a kind of art for the Korim. They admire the function of form. Presumably used to teach or inspire here, they appear to just be decoration. Was there a tunnel we missed in either of the last two rooms? I don't think the kidnappers could have gotten through that wall without making just as much noise as we made?"

"I'd wager that wall was raised by the kidnappers to slow our advance while we were chasing those hobgoblins." respond Marik, before noticing Rani sniffing the air. He look up  and draw his bow, suddenly on alert. He search the ceiling, gazing into the darkness. Black...on black. He can't see a thing.

"There's..."
he begins, gazing into the darkness of the ceiling. "Can someone project light in this direction?" he says pointing upward. "Or throw a torch?"

OOC: Marik rolled a natural 1 for Perception.

Re: Chpt 1.4 - Jzadirune

Filimena climbed carefully over the remains of the wall and into the chamber. Hearing the elf’s question, she frowned slightly. That, unfortunately, was not something she could do, for she had neither light spell nor touch, a glaring oversight, now that she thought of it. THe children had to be here somewhere, though, along with their kidnappers. She listened for any movement, struggling slightly to do so amidst the sounds of her own party entering the chamber, echoing off its walls.

OOC: Rolled a 9 on perception, Reckon that’s probably too low, but don’t want to discount the possibility of something obvious.

Re: Chpt 1.4 - Jzadirune

Marik see Filimena approaching and looking over, staying silent. Of all people here, she was the one he was counting on the most to cast something to help them see. As she stays there, simply listening, Marik know the response to his question. He look to his other comrades, then to the ceiling. He can't see a thing, but based on the echo their footsteps make in the hall, the ceiling must be pretty high. Even if Omaron and Raszire are strong, they probably won't be able to hurl a torch that high. Marik sigh.

"No?...Fine then...Filimena...Could you?...Hum... hold your torch still for a moment..." says Marik, as he pull one of his small cleaning cloth, still somewhat crusty with dried rat blood, from his bag and fold it multiple times, before skewering it with a arrow. Then, he gingerly hold the arrow (and the cloth fold on the tip) over the fire of Filimena torch for a few seconds.

"[Language unknown: Encdaytho], eyes on the ceiling"

As the cloth catch fire, he nock the arrow, draw without hiding his disgust, aim for what he think is the highest point in the ceiling and fire almost immediately. The "fire arrow" fly, providing some small light over the ceiling.

OOC: Long elaborate way of having Marik aid Filimena in her Perception check by providing some light to help her see through the dark.

Still watching the lit arrow trail off to the ceiling, Marik feel a sudden disturbance in the air and turn just in time to catch a glimpse of the tentacles retreating in the darkness.

"What in...?" He isn't quite sure what he was expecting. Hidden ambushers, maybe but tentacles?

Marik quickly draw his bow again, taking a few seconds to discern where the creature could be hiding based on the tentacles lenght and size. He thinks he see a darker shape than the rest and shoot.

OOC: Marik rolled 16 to attack, and would do 9 points of piercing damage + 6 points of poison damage (DC CON 11 for half).

Re: Chpt 1.4 - Jzadirune

Filimena was prepared for something like this to happen; Even so, the sight of the tentacle catches herself off guard. SHe hesitates for a moment at the prospect of firing an Eldritch Blast blind. What if the children were up there and she hit one of them by accident? But no. If the children were up there they’d probably already be dead. Taking aim at roughly the spot she sees Marik fire his arrow, she sends forth a blast of Eldritch energy.

OOC:
08:37, Today: Filimena the Gentle rolled 25,26,7 using d20+6,d20+6,d10+4, rerolling ones with rolls of 19,20,3.  Eldritch blast with disadvantage on attack, agonising Blast .

So that’s 25 to hit, doing 7 damage.
