One Big Happy Family...
The time for pain had long past, Pauli was in a state of numbness. His whole being was wrapped up in pushing his wings for one last stroke, and then one more after that, one more after that. He wasn't one of those blasted albatrosses, he wasn't built for long distance flight. Sooner or later, his wings would stop, and he would plummet to the ocean. He didn't even know why he was in this predicament. Why had they all died? and why had the captain made him eat that truly wretched fruit. He couldn't remember anything that tasted that bad since the last time he ate durian. It had done something to him, he could feel it. His mind was sharper, and he could remember all kinds of things that now made sense. He was a parrot, a macaw to be precise. remembering and repeating things was what he was best at. It makes everybody laugh-- it made everybody laugh, they were all dead now. But he never understood the things he repeated. Until now. That blasted fruit. It changed things, they were trying to sell it when everybody died. But it would soon be over. He didn't have much left. If it hadn't been for Captain Meeskait's last command, he would have dropped into the ocean hours ago. "Fly Pauli!" He had shouted. "You live for all of us now!" It was no use, every beat was weaker than the last, he lost altitude on every stroke. And then, a ship, not the blasted navy, a pirate ship. Pauli found strength that he didn't know existed and made it to the deck. Everything went black.

When Pauli came to there was a young girl and her teddybear watching over. "P.A.! HE'S AWAKE!" She shouted. A large man with huge hands came in with a cup of water. "Drink" he said, "You look a little dry." As Pauli drank, The man continued. "During your delirium, you talked about a massacre, and swore vengeance on the navy. I'm P.A. Ano. My crew and I be no fans of the navy either, but first things first, what are you?"
"I don't know" said Pauli, "I don't be knowin' what I am anymore"

He spent a couple of months sailing with Mino and his crew, but they had their own path to take, and Pauli was determined to hunt down the man who had murdered his friends. He left them on good terms somewhere in the North Blue, and began to move from island to island, honing his skills and becoming stronger. Along the way he would meet his new crew.
________________________________________________________________________________
Pauli is a blue and yellow macaw that ate the Human-human fruit. He has two forms at the moment, that of a normal macaw, (his preferred form), and that of a feathered human with wings. In his humanoid form, his face flattens into a human face, but still retains his beak, and has claws instead of feet. He is very loyal to his crew, and despises the navy.

One Big Happy Family...
With the devil fruit in his hands, Zeph was contemplating his future. He knew some of his family might recognize which fruit it was, but he would rather die than confide in them. It turned out that bastard sons of famous gangsters aren't really part of the Family, and are mostly just regarded as expendable. Finally resolving that he would rather consign himself to fate than keep living on Gangster Island, Zeph took a deep bite into the fruit and noticed immediately the awful taste almost blowing like a breeze down his throat.

The transformation was quick. Zeph had become something more than he was. He had no way of knowing that what he decided to call the Whoosh Whoosh Fruit was actually a powerful logia class. He just knew it gave him the ability to fly, and that he could leave his island with no one the wiser. Carefully gathering all the cash he had been storing, he put on his favorite suit and climbed to the roof of the giant building that was HQ for the Boss. He made sure no one was watching, transformed into his Whoosh Whoosh body, and let the wind carry him away from his life.

It was the best decision he had ever made. He loved soaring in the wind, and quickly found stronger winds to carry him along. They began to turn violent and carried him at great speeds above North Blue. While he should have been worried about the growing power of the storm, he was still lost in the emotions of finally escaping and going on an adventure. It was not until several hours into the worsening conditions that Zeph realized he could not escape the wind, and had to decide to just ride out the storm. It was in the midst of the chaos that Zeph actually flew into a bright blue and yellow mass of feathers.

“Whoa! Sorry there, little parrot! It looks like you got caught up in this storm as well!” said Zeph.

“Rawwwwk! Shiver me timbers, the wind’s a talkin’! It even be havin' a face!” squawked Pauli.

“Hey! The name is Zeph, and I don't always look like the wind! Wait, did the parrot actually understand me?”

“HA! I ain't no idiot! 'Course I heard whatcha said! You be shoutin’ loud an clear! The name's Pauli the Parrot. I'm aheadin' for that island over yonder. Tho' to be honest this blasted wind might a' messed with me bearin'. You lost?”

“No, I'm not lost! I know exactly where we are, but I doubt I'll be able to escape this storm until we get above the next island. If my navigation calculations are correct, that will be another hour or so!”

“A navigator? I sure could use a friend who knows how to read a map. Been thinkin' 'bout startin' my own pirate crew, and the navigator was one of the most important pirates on my old crew. And a flyin' one would be great! How come you be knowin' how to fly?”

“Eating the Whoosh Whoosh Fruit made me fly! I’ve always wanted to join a noble pirate crew and travel the world! Let's land and talk!”

Fatigued by the storm, they managed to escape at the next island and recover. At the time, Zeph had no idea of the real implications of joining a pirate crew. He just wanted to travel and see the world, but he would soon realize that he would gain a family in the process. This time it would be a real one.

After landing, Pauli ruffled his feathers, stretched, and looked around. "Well lad, This surely ain't the island I was headin' for. I was kind a hopin' to be findin' folks to talk with. This place be as empty as a Navy Cap'n's head. Ye be no friend of the navy I trust?"

The next island wasn't exactly what it appeared to be from the air, rather than a small island covered in trees it turns out to be a few very small islands connected by more shipwrecks than Pauli or Zeph have ever seen. Through the crystal clear water they can see rocks and reefs run throughout, likely the cause of all the wrecks and Zeph wonders if this isn't the Shipwreck Shoals he has heard rumors of as an apprentice navigator.

On one side of the island there is quite a strange looking ship, a cobbled together monster of marine warships, pirate schooners, and merchant vessels. And sure enough as they get close they find their eyes are not deceiving them, it isn't just held together by planks and nails, but rather the pieces of the ships have sprouted branches interweaving together so thick that it's impossible to tell which branches come from which part of the ship towards the middle. And from up on the deck they have a voice call out, "Hullo down there! Won't you do me the serious honor of joining me for my afternoon tea!"

Branches and vines part and extend growing down towards the ground forming a gangplank and they can see a man in a fine green suit sitting before a small table. Another chair sprouts from the deck as well as a branching perch, "The kettle has just reached a boil and I've made fresh biscuits to accompany the tea! Please won't you join me? I've not had guests in, well, ever actually..."

He stands from his seat and motions then forward, "My name is Ashton Willoughby and I've grown this island from the Shipwreck Shoals! I built this ship too, but I've been stuck here because I can't very well cast off without naming her properly; this I propose to you as the subject of our afternoon tea time."

Zeph looks around at the wreckage and murmurs, "I thought Shipreck Shoals would be a bit more gloomy."

He turns to face Pauli and says, "No, I am not a fan of the navy. While they have a few uses, they usually seem to get in the way of legitimate business enterprise. Or at least so I have heard."

Ashton's call startles Zeph, but the offer of food and tea overrides any concern. Zeph says to Pauli, "You wanted to start a crew. I'm a navigator. I suspect you just found a ship and the shipwright to keep her sailing. Do weird coincidences happen around you often, or is this just your lucky day? In any case, I think we should join Ashton for some tea. It sounds like an adventure."

"Rawk! This is a fortuitous. Let us be havin' some tea then." Pauli took to the air. "Ahoy there Matey! It would be arr pleasure to be joinin' ye for tea." Landing on the perch he flapped his wings before settling, and then turning his head to the side, he took stock of the odd gentleman sitting before him. "My name be Pauli, Pauli the Parrot, and this be me friend Zeph. We blew in on a recent storm, both of us being able to fly you see. This is a fine vessel, how did ye make her, and what brought ye to this isle?"

"Oh my goodness! The bird is not what he seems!" Ashton exclaims with a class of his hands, "Well then how very rude of me to assume... Well I'm just delighted to have two guests then!"

"I am an eater of the fruit most devilish, a nasty thing to be sure, but I was starving to death at the time..." Willoughby says, "I am and can control all things to do with trees and so was able to use my unique gifts to construct this masterpiece over the course of many years."

"I was born here actually. My parents were survivors of a naval battle that wrecked many more ships here that the shoals usually claim. We lived simply using the graveyard of lumber and sail to repair ships in return for supplies. There used to be a lighthouse you see, but the government came and destroyed it and took them away... I've been by myself here for a very long time..." the young man in the fine green suit says, his eyes brimming with tears momentarily before here takes in a breath and the smile returns, "I would be delighted to join you and the ship with me, since you say it is the Navy you consider your enemy, for they are certainly mine as well. If you'll forgive my rudeness in assuming your offer of course... One lump or two?"

One Big Happy Family...
Just as the tea was poured, cannon fire rang in the distance. As they turned their heads, a ship rounded the edge of the nearest island’s trees.

”He’s in the water! Shoot him! shouted what appeared to be the ship’s captain, although a short, pudgy woman with an absurdly wide brimmed lace hat. ”Arlong told me personally that you’re a good cook, but you tried to kill me!”

”You told me you were not allergic to shellfish!” replied whoever was paddling like mad through the water and towards the tea-drinkers. ”I even gave you an anti-histamine herb to counteract the ill effects of your allergy!”

”Not good enough, fishface!” cried the captain, he belly rolls bouncing as she lumbered to the stern to get a better view. ”The Pudgy Pirates only give one chance, and you wasted yours!”

”Have it your way fatso! No one accuses me of deliberately poisoning someone with my culinary arts!” he said just before disappearing under he water.

”Where the hell is he!” said the captain.

A few seconds later, the ship rocked suddenly.

”What the hell was that!” she barked.

A minute or so later, a sort of creepy looking, grey Fishman with two fangs protruding from his outthrust lower jaw jumped from the waters near the tea-drinkers to land half-gracefully on the beach of the nearest minuscule island to them. He turned in partial surprise and gave a weak smile that was between alleviating his creepy features and making them worse.

”Oh my,” he said, sweeping an awkward bow. ”Sorry to have disturbed your meal gentleman.”

”There he is!” yelled a chubby deckhand. ”By that mess of ships!”

”Damnit!” said the captain. ”We barely made it this far into this mess of shipwrecks! To the rafts! After him!”

”Uh, captain?” said another, slightly less gargantuan deckhand.

”What?!”

”The ship’s taking on water.”

”WHAAT?????”

”There’s a small hole in the bottom of the ship....”

”AFTER HIM NOW!” she screamed.

The men began to drop rafts and board them, each landing with such weight as to almost topple the small boats.

One would assume that due to the Rotund Pirates size, it'd be nightfall before they reached the shore, but I suppose losing your cook is a serious matter. "If you a chef, why you no take allergy out of shellfish before give it to big sis!"

There are 4 life boats headed toward the island and they will touch the beach in 10 seconds. Each raft has only 2 men, it's made for 4 but... with their size it'd sink.

"I say sir! It seems your pursuers have it in mind to disturb tea time!" Ashton says drawing himself to his full height of 5'6" and straightening his jacket looking quite furious. He buttons the top button and takes a step forward then thinks better of it, taking off his jacket and folding it neatly on his chair. He takes it his cufflinks laying them on the table able rolls up his sleeves, checking his pocket watch and then putting it back in his vest, "The water shall remain sufficiently hot for tea for the next two minutes. I shall assist in dispatching these discourteous fellows with haste, that the tea may be saved."

"It would be rude of me to ask for your help as I am your host, so please enjoy a biscuit or two. Though if you wish to engage these sanctimonious snack sniping sluggards, I will not stand in your way." Ashton says as he runs and jumps over the ship rail, his arm extending into a series of vines and roots briefly latching onto a loading crane constructed and grown by the dock, transferring his momentum into a forward swing to land on the beach next to the new arrival. He bows slightly and says, "Ashton Willoughby at your service sir. Who might you be and who is it that had deigned to ruin my tea time?"
