You have been ordered to report for duty to Starbase 21 (Dobhran Sector) for assignment to the Danube class runabout USS XXXXXXX, NCC-72XXX, there to be proceed to coordinates 5.-6.-10. on Stardate 52999.95 (January 1, 2376 midnight UCT) and report to Commander Delilah Samson, CO of Dyson Base.

Campaign Details:

The Dyson Sphere was discovered on SD46125.3 (2369) by the USS Enterprise-D under Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Details can be found at http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Relics_(episode)

The Dyson Sphere was constructed over a million years ago by an unknown race, and abandoned several thousand years ago, presumably due to instability in the central star. The carbon-neutronium shell is approximately 2500 metres thick, and is presumed to contain circulation equipment for the Class-M environmental systems as well as artificial gravity and power generators, but this is an as-yet untested hypothesis, since only limited access has been gained and sensors are unable to penetrate the material. The upper atmosphere polarises to provide an artificial day/night cycle of 15.4 hours of light and 10.2 hours of darkness.

Dyson base was set up in 2371 to explore this strange structure. Initially, there was only one installation at Dyson Base, positioned on Freeman's Island in a large body of water near one of twenty portals into the Sphere. It had a complement of 10 officers, NCOs and ratings. Each of the four Danube Class Runabouts had a crew of four, for a total of 26 Star Fleet personnel stationed in the Sphere. In addition to the runabouts, Dyson Base wass equipped with two type 7 shuttlecraft.

On SD52850, there was a devastating attack on Dyson Base which left 6 crew members dead. This attack was led by Commander Sela of the Romulan Tal Shiar, based on information gathered by Subcommander Tzilia, a Tal Shiar deep cover agent who had been using the identity of a Starfleet officer, a Vulcan named Ensign T'Zill. Tzilia was killed and Dyson Base left in ruins.

Starfleet hastened to repair the base on Freeman's Island and to set up three new outposts. The Freeman's Island installation is now larger than it was originally, and Outposts 2, 3 and 4 are the same design as the original. New crews and runabouts are now arriving to report for duty. Lieutenant Commander Samson, the CO of Dyson Base, has been promoted to full Commander.

Dyson Base is scheduled to resume operations on SD53000.000, at 17:27:36 January 1st, 2376.

Players will constitute members of the new arrivals. Game start is SD52997.973, midnight December 31/January 1. They will crew three of the runabouts at Outpost Three, which is commanded by Lieutenant Teranin Atek of Betazed.

Character descriptions for several NPCs including the CO and XO of Dyson Base and the CO of Outpost Three have been posted. Also available are descriptions of the crew of the USS Lena, another runabout at Dyson Base and Outpost 3's EMH, "Hawkeye". These can be viewed by clicking on the Character Details The Cast link at the top left of the page.

The only Character Details a player can view are his own. We can view a Description by clicking on the Info link in the sidebar, but that is only possible if you actually do a post as that NPC. Oops. Can also access the Description through The Cast link up top.

You might consider changing the Tags of the NPCs to show what their position is... such as CO of Outpost 3.
