Panting Uthecar explains.  "I fixed the mysterious lump in the bed problem.  Wait for the dust to settle and let's see if there is anything of interest in there."

Re: The Adventure Continues

OOC: Sorry, having more work-related sturm and drang, so my posting will return to irregular for a week or so.

Bruno was pleased that he was able to pry the door open and nods to the congratulations. When Uthecar charges in and come back out in a sneezing fit he bits his lip, but nods solemnly in response to the warrior, "Yes. Let us wait for the 'dust to settle'."

As he speaks he peers into the room to see if there is anything significant remaining over the warrior's shoulder.

"Agreed, we should wait till the dust settles."

He looked at, "Uthecar, that bed cover never saw it coming, you gave it a thorough trashing"

Re: The Adventure Continues

The dust does indeed settle. The room grows no brighter (i.e. not bright at all beyond Bruno's lantern). And the form on the bed remains still.

ooc: based upon Uthecar's reply, I assume at least one of you is going to search the room.

Re: The Adventure Continues

Weasel slips into the room silently, notes the general surrounds for a moment before moving toward the bed. Large quantities of feathers poured from a rent in the mattress, the cut looking closely like that made with a great axe.

"Cor, you bloody well killed the damn thing, Uthecar," Weasel said in mock surprise. The he laughed, high pitched and light in this incongruous setting.

Continuing on for about ten more minutes, he determines that nothign of value is here.

Actions, please.

Myrrick will assist Weasel in the search for anything useful, he will, however, keep his halberd ready. This place was full of surprises and he wasn't going to be unprepared for another.

Kullonar is still IN the room; remember, he followed Uthecar inside.

Trying not to breathe in the dust, as little as possible, Kullonar grasps his holy symbol and morningstar a little tighter and walks closer to the bed.

Re: The Adventure Continues

ooc: my apologies!

As Uthecar spends time killing the bedframe, Kullonar spends a moment looking at the figure on the bed. It is a smallish figure, female, and seems to be elfish in nature. Gone are the eyes and the skin is stretched tight over her face. Cheekbones are stark and narrow. You get the sense that she was once a very pretty girl, though the lay of her skull seems to indicate sadness or pain.

Upon further inspection, you note striations grooved into various parts of the skull, and even her fingers, in a spiral pattern. This includes all the bones, which seem to have some spiral striations on them.

Myrrick took a closer look, not knowing full well what he was looking for, but knowing the spiral striations were not usual at all. "Those mean anything to any of you?"

Bruno peers at the corpse as well bringing the lantern into the room, "I don't know... These must have been carved or dug into her body after death, no?"

He scans the room stepping back (careful not to bump into anyone) and aiming the lantern at the ceiling as well to ascertain whether the 'artist' is in the room.

Kullonar looks a little closer at the girl's body...and then as realization dawns on him, he groans and says to his companions, "I believe I know what happened to this poor child. Some horrible disease ravaged her body and she succumbed to it. She is likely no longer contagious, but you never can tell. The disease that killed her may be dormant, awaiting its next victim."

Zan remained standing at the door, awaiting the group to finish their investigation and made ready to move on.  He did scan the room, looking for any possible books or manuals, perhaps there was a log that could enlighten the group he thought.

Re: The Adventure Continues

Kullonar walks up to the body, holy symbol in one hand, and as he hovers his other hand over the dead child's head, he mutters this prayer:

For your suffering in life, may you rest in death
For your pain in body, may you walk in eternal health
For your restless spirit, may you know peace at last

Kullonar steps back from the girl's body and turns to follow his companions.

Re: The Adventure Continues

As the party leaves the room and gathers in the hallway outside, the pale shade of a small elfin waif stands where the tunnel turns to the left. She offers a wan smile and beckons you with a wave, pointing in the direction of the turn. It seems she is indicating you are to follow her before she disappears around the bend.

ooc: actions?

OOC: A bit unclear on whether she is waiting for us to follow or simply pointing in the direction she wants us to go and then heading in that direction.

If she is not moving, but waiting for us to move, I will use Moradin's Insight to augur whether or not following is a good idea.

Re: The Adventure Continues

Zan was a bit skeptical.  "Well at least she is not attacking us, everything else has, guess she can be trusted based on that.  Maybe it's some unfinished business that she wants us to take care of for her."
