"Gildan...greetings and welcome. Alas, we were not in time to save Weasel...but the god's granted us the time to save you. I'm afraid this band is knee-deep in it. Are you sure you want to throw in your lot with us?"

Kullonar leans over Zan to look into the chest, wondering what might be found.

You find the following:
Four vials, each full of liquid
-vial 1 is a dark blue color
-vial 2 is dark in color and seems to be viscous and not watery
-vial 3 seems to be a faint pink color
-vial 4 is a translucent red color (not like blood)

-1 scroll bound by a now worn ribbon inside a fairly nice bone scroll tube

-1 velvet bag filled with 8 small gems of a russet hue that glitter prettily

Zan, Myrrick, Uthecar and Bruno roll percentile dice (d100 on the roller to appraise).

Kullonar examines the bone case scroll, opening it to see what's inside.
"Maybe one of us can use whatever's in here, brother," he says to Bruno.

The two priests take a look at the description atop the scroll.

In fanciful script, the scroll reads: An orison of succor from folk or fiend of malevolent persuasion.

He then takes a look at the other items.

Bruno turns to the new Elf, "Undead or these particular type of undead?

"These are not the first undead we've destroyed... But they are different in that they seemed to have an intelligence about them."

Nodding at Zan he continues, "It was your Grey cousin, Zan, here who noted that in an earlier fight they actually attempted to flank us in the melee."

In Search of Something Known

A weariness sets over the party, part of it from the constant strain of what seems a veritable horde of undead, along with the death of Weasel and the wounds on the newcomer, Gildan. There is an air of distrust among the party for the newcomer, something perhaps that needs to be resolved.

"Who're you?" Uthecar demanded in typical, no nonsense fashion. Despite his brusque demeanor, his expression is more curious than anything else. He awaits the archer's answer patiently."

"Well, I suspected there were undead down here. Finding and killing undead....well, that's what I do."

As if he realized how ridiculous his boast may have sounded, he clarifies, "I took an oath to rid the world of undead. They..." his voice chokes up, "Well, they took someone very special from me."

Re: In Search of Something Known

Despite the fact that there are two elves in his party and they were originally sent by an elven noble Bruno has not previously had that much contact with elves. He has learned more about them in the past month or two than he ever knew before. Yet, they are still odd to him. He listens to Gildan and does his best to read the new fellow's face and, well, it seemed as if he spoke the truth.

"So, you came down here on your own to hunt whatever undead might be down here?"

"It's never easy to lose someone...especially to the walking dead. I hate them as much as you seem to do. As long as you're on our side, I'm fine with you hanging around."

Re: In Search of Something Known

Things are settling down now, Gilden's been introduced, albeit a bit doubtfully by some members of the party. You've got a nifty little surprise in the chest in the form of potions and scroll, along with some gems.

Now is where the party earns its pay - you've got a wounded member (Gildan + anyone I might have missed). And you've still got (by your best guess) at least another third of the upper level to explore. It feels nightish, though even those who are used to subterranean settings aren't quite sure what time it is. The dwarves can kind of figure out up, and certainly they're good with weak or damaged rock...which there doesn't seem to be a lot of: Quesqueton was built by dwarves after all.

What does the party wish to do?

Re: In Search of Something Known

Bruno realizes that their new friend has wounds and glances at Kullonar, "It seems you might need a bit of assistance to get back on your feet."

He puts his shield on the ground leaning it against his knees and the four runes of Moradin seem to gleam a bit as he says a prayer in Dwarven and touches his holy symbol to Gildan's forehead.

OOC: Well... The first one does not do too much good, I'm afraid:

10:55, Today: Bruno Rhunthane rolled 1 using 1d8.  Cure Light Wounds.

Sorry, adding this late -- Gildan, how wounded are you? I'm guessing 1 HP isn't going to help much, but give us some sense so we know how many CLWs we're going to cast!

Seer, maybe the best way to do this is for you to roll the CLWs after this one and let me and Kullonar know how many spells we've cast to get Gildan back up to tip-top shape?

Nodding, Gildan replies, "Pretty much, yeah."

Looking around, he says, "This room seems pretty defensible, now that we've cleared out the nasties. Should we camp for the night? And, if you've got more of those healings, I could use a few."

Re: In Search of Something Known

Bruknar and Uthecar carefully survey the two rooms. They jam spikes beneath the secret door, as well as any exterior doors (spikes gotten in one of the storerooms you guys explored - handy, no?) and hammer them in good and tight. Pulling open his pack, Bruknar said, "I'm hungry."

So saying, he sits and has his daily trail ration and washes it down with water. Uthecar drops to his butt and joins him. The two dwarfs start talking in their gutteral language, talk turns to laughter and their cheer seems contagious as everyone in the room settles down to eat.

Bruno and Kullonar minister to Gildan - they work hard to secure his health, then offer thanks to their respective deities. The next 8 hours are spent in rest and recuperation - all are back to maximum hit points.

Actions, lads?
