In Search of Something Known

Patchwall, YR 1 of The Seer's New Greyhawk Orthodox Calendar.  Time: early evening.

To be frank, the party's a bit lopsided with the time/date. Seems like you've been down here for a week, but you can't say for sure. There were at least two stops in the wizard's lab for rest and study and meditation. Perhaps three. That was after the first visit with the ghast, the shadow and the...whatever the hell that monstrosity was that fought Myrrick (monster skeleton). Oh, yeah and a night in the room that went to nowhere...yes, topsy-turvy is about the right word for it.

Now fatigue settles in - all this moving about, but not really sure where you're going or what the point is. All of which is made worse when you note Weasel face down in his own blood. The boy, well, young man, isn't moving.

Turning him over reveals bite and claw marks that are vile. It is quite clear he is dead. As sadness comes over you at the fall of a comrade, a sudden worry sinks in: what happens to someone who's bitten by a ghoul.  You all have heard rumors...it is a sobering thought.

Finally, some good news, there's a chest in Dining area that somehow went unnoticed.

Kullonar looks down at the young lad, Weasel, and frowns.
"Best take his head...else he will rise with a hunger for flesh."
The priest makes the sign of the Cudgel and looks at his companions, particularly those with a sword.

Bruno reaches out a hand to slow down the cleric of St. Cuthbert, "Wait! Wait, brother. I do not think that would be required. If we bless his body, even if we can not give him a proper burial, his soul should be safe...

"I have to admit that I did not realize he had fallen, poor Weasel. (Was that his birth name, do we know?)"

Bruno's final question was more to himself than not as the combination of fatigue and a profound sense of loss settles over him.

As he reaches for his holy symbol, though, he seems to gain a second breath, "Come, comrades, circle around. Let us see this young man off as properly as we may. Father Kullonar, will you join me in this? The blessings of Soul Forger and The Cudgel will see that his soul gets to its proper home."

OOC: I've got a Bless spell ready.

Kullonar nods. "Indeed I shall help, brother."
With holy symbol in one hand and cudgel in the other, the half-orc priest of St. Cuthbert prepares to send Weasel's poor soul onto the afterlife.
