OOC:
10:51, Today: Bruno Rhunthane rolled 2 using 1d6+1.  Initiative.

10:53, Today: Bruno Rhunthane rolled 9 using 1d20+1.  Heavy Crossbow Attack (-1).

10:54, Today: Bruno Rhunthane rolled 2 using 1d4+1.  Heavy Crossbow Damage.

I suspect that this is a miss...

While he was not quite surprised when the 'rock' surges out from the pool his disgust at the thing that comes at them combined with the snap shot with his crossbow results in a less-carefully aimed attack than Bruno usually makes.

Re: The Warrens Below

Bruknar rushes forward with both hand axes, swings twice. The first is a near miss, but the second is a hit for 3 points damage.

Meanwhile, Uthecar stands with his kinsman and swings his mighty axe, scoring a telling blow: 5 points damage.

In return, the giant waterbug (of sorts) lashes out with twin pseudopods, one each on Uthecar and Bruknar: Uthecar blocks the incoming blow, but Bruknar is not as fortunate, taking a vicious hit to his chest that leaves him stunned (Bruknar is stunned for one round).

Party's actions, please.

Re: The Warrens Below

A well coordinated attack and defense sees Gilden loose the fateful arrow and solid contributions from all the other members of the party. Unfortunately, there is no treasure here, though a closer look indicates that there is indeed a current rippling beneath the surface of the pool. There appear to be no further exits from the cavern.

Party actions?

He picks up his crossbow and continues moving away from the pool, "Let us head back to the intersection south of here... I say we head right, erm, north there and see where it takes us."

OOC: Suggesting we go back and then head up to #53.

Re: The Warrens Below

The current is water - the ichor of the giant bug might be a bit oily, but with the current, it's going to flow out in a matter of minutes. The water's drinkable.

The party - pending refilling waterskins - winds it's way from the grotto, back around to where the dead still lay, well, dead, then they head up toward what appears to be a huge cavern, at least based upon your spotty recollection of the map in the upper level.

A few things stand out:

1- A strong, unpleasant odor grows as you head upward on the map, akin to bat guano. Some of you would know what saltpeter is (the dwarves in particular have knowledge of such) - the smell is very much akin to that.

2- Bat activity as you draw closer to the massive cavern increases. It is a nuisance, and the small squeaks the critters let out echo in a disconcerting fashion throughout the area.

3- The sound of dripping water is now more pronounced. Periodically you feel the drip land on helms, making a tinny sound, and you note a dampness that has gotten more pronounced as you've walked through the caverns.

Onward and ever upward, as they say: Party's actions?

Oh, and happy Friday everyone. My sister has indications of the Corona Virus. She is self quarantined, seems to be in good spirits...but, well, still scary stuff. My advice? Stay home this weekend. I'd say watch sports, but that's pretty much out. Did you know there's not enough test material to go around? New Rochelle has been hit pretty hard (NR is a suburb of NY - fyi) and they've limited tests to those 70 and older, I believe. Anyway, this is not the apocolypse...I don't think.

Corona will likely hit the big cities the worse.

Hunker down for the weekend, Between, cable, internet, and streaming, I'm predicting that the internet will go down this weekend with everyone staying home.  People are going to start losing their minds.

Friends, Stay safe out there.

Re: The Warrens Below

Kullonar feels a little better in the huge cavern...but only a little.
He's not a fan of bats, always having a bad feeling about them; evil creatures are said to employ them as spies!

So, he walks timidly around the edges of the cavern...avoiding the piles of guano. He's looking for passages or hidey holes where evil may lurk...

Re: The Warrens Below

OOC: I had minor sniffles for the last few weeks (I always tend to get something at the beginning of spring and autumn) that evolved into minor coughing and an actual low-fever on Friday (it never topped 100.2). That said, I've not had shortness of breath and with such a low grade fever I don't think it's Covid-19.

I'm feeling much improved today with the fever gone, nose less-sniffley, and coughs even more minor. Nevertheless, I am remaining home protecting the world from myself and my TP from the world.

Bruno too is interested in the increased dampness and joins Myrrick in his investigation.

OOC: Ugh, this is where we (and when I say 'we' I mean 'me') are: you referring to your sister as 'only' 55 and me thinking in response, 'ooh, I'm two year younger!'

Unless somebody wants to change things around, let's use the same marching orders until further notice:

Double - File
Uthecar/ Bruknar

Bruno /Kullonar

Gildan /Zan

Myrrick

Single-File
Uthecar

Bruno

Bruknar

Gildan

Kullonar
