Uthecar in his crazed state has spittle covering his beard as he swears away in dwarven at the creature.  He sweeps the blade down as the beast charges past as he twirls out of its way.  He hopes to deliver the final blow that takes the weird bull thing out.

15:43, Today: Uthecar Hornskin II rolled 24 to hit and 21hp damage.

Re: Chapter 3: The Valley of Sleeping Jarls

As the party ratchets up its efforts, something odd happens. First, the archer in the trees suddenly goes quiet. Second, the Gorgon beast (which has absorbed about 150 HP, give or take), suddenly dissolves into gossamer threads before disappearing entirely...as if it was never there. The two stags, however, are most assuredly there and still attacking:

We are still on your initiatives gentlefolk. And as Sheldon Cooper would say: Bazinga!

OOC: Wow, this is about the oddest fight we've had yet, I think. Cool!

Don't forget the Bless spell everyone!

As Bruno cast his Cure Moderate Wounds upon the elven archer he cannot help but note the stag's antlers swipe past him, which while less odd than the disappearing gas-bull, is more concerning. Accordingly, he thrusts his blade at the weird creature.

09:12, Today: Bruno Rhunthane rolled 8 using 1d6+7. Short Sword Damage

09:12, Today: Bruno Rhunthane rolled 13 using 1d20+5.  Short Sword Attack.

Myrrick, unsure of what’s going on, turns his efforts to the still present stags and attacks the first he’s able to, with the short spear.

Re: Chapter 3: The Valley of Sleeping Jarls

Gildan hits once for 6 pts of damage. The Stag stumbles and falls.
Zan hangs back, keeping watch on the others in case he needs to fire off more Magic Missiles.
Kullonar missed brutally, almost a fumble, but he recovered quickly.
Myrrick hits and the stag goes up in flame.
As Myrrick's flames fly, Ulrich steps up with a mighty cleave and the remaining stag falls.

Re: Chapter 3: The Valley of Sleeping Jarls

Bruno's attack seems to have missed, but since almost everyone else did not and the undead stags fall it does not seem to matter.

When the gas clears he draws a deep breath and tugs his braided beard, "Well done, fellows, well done."

As he is speaking he scans the area for more undead or gassy opponants and to better take in their surroundings.

Re: Chapter 3: The Valley of Sleeping Jarls

Everybody gets a whack in on the stags - the final blows by Bruno and Ulrich decapitate the last stag standing. The chamber grows quiet. No one really knows what happened to the archer or the great beast, though all of you are thankful that no one took terrible hurt from the either. As for the stags, both were nuisances, though difficult ones. Now, as you press forward your torches and lanterns dim to one half of their potency which at once makes things more difficult for Ulrich while also affecting those with infravision.

From where you are standing you can see the passage before you has narrowed to 10'. Curved passages lead both downward & opposite of one another -or- you can continue straight to end of the hall.

Party actions?

Re: Chapter 3: The Valley of Sleeping Jarls

I apparently have no concept of how to describe chambers, hallways, rooms, corridors or any other types of maps. Let's try this again.

From the entrance to this tomb:
1-Initially you entered and went 40' straight along a 20'wide passage.

2-At the 40' mark you came to an intersection that went left, right or straight. Here the straight corridor narrowed from 20' wide to 10'wide and the light sources have dimmed. The Trap room follows to the left, the opposite room is on the right.

3-the narrowed tunnel leads to the archer in the trees, the gorgon and stags - all of them have either disappeared or been vanquished.

4-Pushing a bit further, the corridor opens to 20' once again. Here you have a choice of going straight to what seems to be an end to the corridor. You can also choose to follow one of the passages that descend and go either to the right tunnel or the left tunnel.

I hope that helps.

Uthecar nods agreement with Ulrich in regards to the cures.  His hurts are not dire, and having something in reserve was always welcomed.   He is ready to move on also agreeing with the upper level being clear before the lower levels are tempted.

A crudely drawn map might help.

Kullonar gathers his wits now that their foes were vanquished and looks around as others move down the hallway. He has no clue where he is or where they are going. But...he follows and guards the rear.

Re: Chapter 3: The Valley of Sleeping Jarls

Yes. As you head down and to the right, you feel a greater sense of evil. It seems to surround you. Stone stairs sweep into a circular chamber. Stone fonts sit dry, perhaps used once in ceremony. You are most aware of the profane nature of the scrawling that adorn the walls, the floors, even the ceilings. Once pastoral, the decorations have been destroyed.

As you are drawn into the chamber, you note the other stairway follows opposite from where you are. The place is quite crowded, many skeletons and zombies await you, as do two horrific monsters that appear to have sewn of spare parts. One that carries a halberd, looks kind of like a bugbear, but with a boar's head on its neck. The other seems a giant of sorts and carries a wicked morning star.

It's that time again, gang. Roll your initiative! You can also roll attack/dmg rolls as well. I'll be doing my usual.

As always: Good luck!

PS: you are now beyond my map. FWIW.
