Combat example
I will post a brief example of a combat interaction here and go over a few general posting guidelines.

First, when describing something in game use italic to help differentiate it from standard, out of game text.

Also when a character is speaking please color the text to help differentiate. There are a good bit of options so choose whatever color you feel suits the character best. Please stick to one color for each character so it helps differentiate during dialogue.

Other than that feel free to get creative with all the font and coloring options, just try and stick to those basic rules when posting.

So during combat and to help speed things along I am going to post initiative right as combat begins. In this example Thane Greycrest, representing the heroes, is squaring off with the Drow warrior Draz who represents the villains. So in the dice roller I rolled a d20 for each group, heroes and villains, and the posted the results here just by copy and pasting from the dice roller.

14:53, Today: Narrator, for the NPC Draz, rolled 8 using 1d20.  Initiative.
14:51, Today: Narrator, for the NPC Thane Greycrest, rolled 18 using 1d20.  Initiative.

So Thane wins the initiative and the heroes get to go first. In game terms that means...

Thane, eager for the fray, rushes towards his opponent bellowing Have At Thee!

Once combat has begun and initiative has been decided it is up to the players to then post their actions and the dice rolls for them. Thane, naturally, will be attacking the drow Draz during his turn so I"m going to roll a d20 and add in his +8 from strength, base attack, and other bonuses.
During combat I will also let the players know what they need to get to hit their targets. In this case Draz has an 18 AC.  So the whole post would look as follows.

15:24, Today: Narrator, for the NPC Thane Greycrest, rolled 18 using 1d20+8.  Attack roll.

A hit! So Thane will go ahead and roll damage for his longsword.

15:26, Today: Narrator, for the NPC Thane Greycrest, rolled 11 using 1d8+4.  Damage.

Greycrest draws his sword as he charges forward, closing the distance to his foe. In one graceful movement Thane slices his longsword accross his body, feignting low. With a sudden thrust, Greycrest drives his blade forward and over Draz's outstretched shield finding the flesh beneath the drow's chain mail
