Re: The Veil: Stronghold
Alazne:
She followed the mutts lead on making the crevasse. She had taken the unit from him, then focused and gently pushed the unit into the hull wrapping the metal around it. "Will that do?"

With tail wagging, Churchill watched as the coffee-drinking wizard wrapped the hull around the comm unit. "Let's find out if it works," he declared. "Wait here. I have to activate it from the inside." With that, he ran back aboard the ship, pushed someone (he didn't even look to see who it was) out of his way so he could access another comm panel, then started talking. "Testing... testing... can you hear me? Hello?"

Re: The Veil: Stronghold
Misty sees Daniel looking around "You need some more coffee? The pot is over there on the counter. Here I will get it" she looks at him curiously "So you were not fighting in some kind of war or anything?" She picks up the pot and walks over to Daniel.

Then a short robot rolls in and beeps a lot at Misty who looks at it "OK, great R2D3, so the engines are ready?"

Re: The Veil: Stronghold
As Daniel surrenders his cup to the ship owner, he nods.

"Thanks. That's really hitting the spot."

When she asked her question, he rose an eyebrow.

"War? Not me. I'm a programmer. Mostly operational software for government functions. No big whoop, but I get to travel on the company dime."

Dan walked to the cabinet and grabbed the sugar, waiting for his refill. Most likely, his eyes sparkled with anticipation.

Re: The Veil: Stronghold
Misty pours him some coffee and herself some. She adds lots of sugar and some cream. "I have a sweet tooth. I was on a planet looking for a Sith knight when it was attacked by some demons things and I sucked into this world with my ship"

Re: The Veil: Stronghold
Daniel sipped at his new cup of lightly sugared coffee with so gusto.

"Sith what?"

He nodded.

"Cool ship. Like out of that movie."

Re: The Veil: Stronghold
Alazne pushed the button on the unit. "Loud and clear, seems like you got it." Then drained her coffee with a cringe. She walked back inside the ship and looked around for a refill.

Coffee in hand, as well as a modest amount of sugar and creamer, she approached the others and laughed. "Yeah, it does sound like a movie. Next thing I know she will call herself a Jedi and a little robot will come rolling out." She nearly dropped her cup when she heard saw what looked similar to R2D2 and it beeped.

Re: The Veil: Stronghold
She looks at Danial "The Sith are force users who use the dark side of the force. I reformed and now just try to use the light side"

She looks at Alazne "I am a Jedi now. I was a Sith follower but things changed. I had a conversion. Do you know about Jedi and the force?"

Re: The Veil: Stronghold
Daniel gave Misty an odd look. Although he did not say so, the man had no idea what she was talking about. He took another sip of coffee. With any luck, more of the beverage would increase his understanding of the woman's words... and the strange situation that he was in.

Re: The Veil: Stronghold
She took it all in, and had to admit she should not be surprised after how odd the other worlds were in her own universe. Alazne took a long sip of her coffee before replying. "If I remember right, Jedi are about Harmony and Balance. While the Sith" She paused, trying to find a way to word what she read in a few old novels. "They focus on the self, and rather then suppressing their wants needs and desires, they embrace them? All I remember about the force is some omnipresent energy, but that cannot be right."

Re: The Veil: Stronghold
She looks at Alazne "Ya, that is pretty much it. I was on the Sith side and got converted, oh you don't know how hard that was on me. I feel so different though the revenge thing on the enemy does make me think more Sith like.  So I do have some screwy powers"

She looks at Daniel "Now stand still." she holds out her hand and makes him levitate up. He rises so his head is almost touching the ceiling.

Daniel hummed when he was raised. He looked down at Misty.

"Bad news. This is giving me gas. Well, that and the coffee."

Re: The Veil: Stronghold
She looked at the Misty, bewildered in a way, but chose to accept it. This is a hub of the multiverse so why not. Besides, another mage is not the oddest thing she has encountered that day. "Ok, but there was no need to do that. I believed you earlier. So, can you let him down?"

She continued sipping her coffee and said "Sounds like both sides are alright, and can be of equal use. Anything can be twisted to evil, reguardless of the purpose." then she shrugged. "The real question is, what to do when we get the ship fixed?"

Misty sets him down "Oh, sorry you got a tummy upset. I guess I was just showing off a bit. So, is everyone ready to do a little flying?"

"Are you sure that's uh, safe?" Miniya blinked twice and look between Misty and the people working on the ship. "Wasn't this thing grounded ten minutes ago or did I mishear that?"

Re: The Veil: Stronghold
Daniel pounded softly but firmly on his upper stomach. He blew out some air.

"Did you just say we're going flying?" he asked with great interest. "Wow. I mean it, wow. Should we, like, strap in or something? I don't want to go flying around out of control."

Re: The Veil: Stronghold
Misty looks at Miniya "It is not safe for space but we are fine in the atmosphere.  So it should handle fine but I am not going to fly it too high till I know its safe." she looks at Daniel "Yes, we are going flying, I will tell you when to strap in. Then we can also map some of this area if my scanners are working"

Re: The Veil: Stronghold
"Flying?" Churchill gasps. "I'm not so sure I'm ready for flying." Before things get any more serious, the canine repairman heads down the walkway to the exit. "Not to say that I don't want to save the world with all of you, but look at me. I'm not a Jedi or a wizard, or a gun toting thus and so, or even a mad bomber. I just fix stuff. I wish you all the best of luck, and if you need anything repaired in your world saving endeavors, I'd be happy to help. Just look for me back in the commons."

He shifts his weight uncomfortably for a second, then raises a paw in a half-hearted wave and leaves the ship.

Alazne looked at the hull. "Hey, I can see my chair from here. So... keep it low for now right?"

Misty looks at Churchill "Good luck, if we find anything thing like a town, we will come back for you."

She looks at Alazne "Ya, low for a while till I can check out the engines"

Daniel looked down at his cup.

"You'll fly steadily enough so that my coffee won't spill, right?"

With a sip, he gave Misty a look of innocent concern.

She looked between those present and then smiled slightly "I'm certain if something goes wrong, between us we can salvage it, it would be interesting to fly in a machine, I've little experience with such."

Re: The Veil: Stronghold
Misty looks at Daniel "If the engines are working right, it should be nice and smooth but I would hold the cup at take off"

"Yes, hopefully it will not bother you like Daniel flying in the chair" she says with a grin as she goes up to the cockpit.

Re: The Veil: Stronghold
Daniel looks at the others present.

"I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to go, um, strap in."

The tall man follows the ship owner forward. Once he reaches what seems to be a passenger chair, he grabs it and puts the belt(s) on. He then holds on to his coffee.

"If I spill any of this stuff, I'll be unhappy" Daniel thought.

Re: The Veil: Stronghold
Misty gunned the engines, and the ship slowly lifted off, remaining steady. It was a lovely day, and things were going quite smoothly. Once they reached about 100 feet off the ground they had cleared the top of the compound. In the distance, they could see portals opening and lcosing, people streaming into, headed towards the compound. One portal in particular was pulsing quite quickly.

The area was a mix match of several different dimensions smashed together, worlds bleeding in and out of "The Veil". One area was a huge rainforest, the next an urban city, and after that a lava world, and so forth.

"OK, look, there are all those worlds. Anyone got any preference?" she says as she tries to scan the areas for any information she can get.
