As they stepped into the building Ridlow reached into his pocket and took out a small tin. dipping his finder into the contents he rubbed a greasy substance just under his nose. The slightly minty smell took away the harshness of the stink of the place so it didn't distract him.

As the others entered the room he took up position outside in the corridor. His stance slightly lazy with his newly acquired assault shotgun slung down by his side he casually watched both sends of the corridor for any signs they might be interrupted.

Smythe took notes he nodded and made affirming sounds so the apartment manager would continue. As he scribbled in the pad, Smythe made mental notes about the odd collection of tenants. When the man stopped sputtering out information, Smythe looked up from his note pad.

"The building seems to be in bad shape. Lucius, you seem like a guy who is on the ball, so what's going on with the building?" Smythe asked as he looked about at the disaster that passed as an apartment building.

After he got his answer, Smythe planned to defer to Sora in case she had anything else for the the despicable man.

While the other chatted to the tenant Ridlow decided to have a little look around rather than stay put...

He walked the corridor pacing the length of it. He made a mental note of the exits and which way the doors swung. He looked out of the window at each end of the corridor to see if there were any external except stairs or means to get up into the building from the outside.

He moved and surveyed the area as he would if he was setting up a job. He looked at the buildings beyond and judged distance and angles working out lines of sight etc.

Once he was satisfied he knew all he could about the building and surrounding apartments he moved back to the apartment door and took up he lazy position leaning against the wall

As Smythe was handling the man, Leon moved up to snag the keys from him. He couldn't think of anything else he'd have to say to the man so he simply moved up to Sora, bent down to say something quietly to her. "I will take Vostat and perform a door to door search. Join us when you are done here." He then ducked out of the door and gestured for Vostat to follow as he headed to door 202 knocking upon the door. "Luna PD."

Kaori held back a moment talking to the super "With respect, I believe that you are being forthright with us. There is little that you have told us that we will not find out by canvassing the neighbours. I have only one more thing to ask. Is there anything else you think might be helpful to us? Did you hear anything? See anything? I should remind you that normal cases like this...only one detective might turn up. We number four. That should give you an indication as to the attention we're paying to this crime, and if we find nothing here, we'll just return to look deeper until a culprit is found. While I and my colleagues are reasonable people, those that return..well, they might just be looking for someone to arrest." Kaori's eyes swept the supers apartment looking for any of the normal signs of criminal behaviour that she might use to urge him to be more forthcoming.

When Leon stated he was heading upstairs Smythe had held up a finger to the apartment manager and shifted his attention to his new partner "As Mr Diatorro indicated the apartment next door may have been used to can access, can you please clear the first floor before proceeding to the second floor Detective Valmonte?

Smythe then shifted his attention back to Diatorro to here his reply to Smythe and Sora's questions.

(Those in the corridor can roll perception 2 success needed. Kaori can roll for insight. If you spend dsp, tells it in your roll description please.)

The door to the next apartment was already slightly open and, as you were told, it was  obvious this place had been used as an entrance away from the camera over the front door. It had also been used as a squat or just as a safe place for skels. The injectors, the little plastic bags, the small burnt heap, the puke stains and probably other bodily fluid littered the place. It smelled of desperation as much as anything else.
As in the corridor, there was cabling laying around and hanging from false ceiling.

The two door on the other side were still properly locked but they opened on fifteen meters of emptiness, with the foundations of the motorway bare under your gaze and huge construction engine working slightly further. When you opened the door, you realized that the noises are strangely thoroughly blocked from the outside of the apartments. You quickly backed down and closed those doors, but not before some of the smog entered the building, creating a few centimetres of mist at your ankles.

In Diatorro apartment, the man seemed to tense at Kaori not so veiled threat. "I don't know more ! This place will be torn down sooner or later, that's all !" He finally stood up from his armchair and got to the sink. "Look !" He close the drain and ran some water. It was obvious that the sink was at a slight angle. "It's getting worse every week. That's what's going on here ! Can't do anything about it, hu ?!" Once more he swallowed some painkiller. It was obvious the man was desperate. You didn't know if it was about it all or just about you being here.

With Sora continuing the questioning, and Diatorro jamming down pills, Smythe stepped over to the wall of screens and proceeded to attempt to switch them on. If they needed some coaxing he was determined to pull out his multi-tool and getting back on.

After taking a cursory glance at the CCTV screens, Simon looked around for their remote. It was sitting next to the 4 button remote of the main TV. Seing this, Diatorro started : "Hey what do you think you are doing !?" But before he could reach the Imperial, Simon had turned on the small screens and the former military man was quite more impressive than most thugs of the Nines. Most were extinct, one emitted a small electrical sound then started to smoke and another decided to pop its tube with a short shower of sparks.
The corridors of the three first floors were well covered by the cameras and one indicated for the fourth flour was showing static.

The fat man stopped in his rush. "Well, those are the cam's. I still didn't saw nothing this night if someone screamed. And around here, you don't ask anyway."
He got back to his seat, sulking.

Hid his coughing against his elbow as he shut the door and shook his head. This place was derelict but strangely well-isolated when it came to sounds. However this area didn't seem to give him much of anything to work with, he rubbed his eyes, trying to get some of the sting of the smog out before he returned to Diatorro's apartment. "This floor lookz clear, if anythzing happened in -that- apartment it'z too contaminated to tell us what." He indicated over at the druggie-apartment when he noticed the screens and he exhaled, audibly, then his blue eyes flared up when the Manager spoke again. "If someone screamed?" He took another step into the apartment, moving toward the TV. "How do you know that someone screamed or not? That iz a very peculiar choice of words."

Kaori raised an eyebrow at the supers complaints. "It seems to me as though you might have some explaining to do. It hardly seems credible that someone who keeps such a close eye on his residents did not see or hear anything. It seems much more credible that you saw or heard some people that scare you or that you are complicit in this affair." Kaori actually thought the super was not really involved in anything, but she was sure he must have witnessed something worthwhile and decided to push him further. "This is your final chance. You do not want to upset the Luna PD."

It was already obvious to Smythe that the man was lying before turning on the surveillance monitors. The man had lied about respecting their privacy. Smithe wondered if the grubby little man might not have installed some cameras of his own.

Now he appeared to be lying about the disappearances is as well. It was not looking to good for Lucius Diatorro at the moment.

For the moment Smythe would let the others question the man, instead looking at system for other channels or for recording media.

Diatorro was slightly puzzled by the question but the hostility around him was thich enough that he didn't was to upset the burly cops around him.
"Your men told me about the scream when they came earlier ! A... sergeant... what's-his-name ?!"
Taking a look at Simon he quickly spurted : "I have nothing more. All that came with the building! Couldn't afford more if I wanted !"

The smog that entered sooner through the ruined apartments created an eerie atmosphere. Somehow, in the badly lit room, it almost concealed the trash lying around but not quite. Just enough to give it shapes reminding you all of an ugly morning on some battlefield of your past. After blinking once or twice, the shape became clearer. This was not an arm, just three cans of beer and a food box. This was not a real gun, but the cover of a capitolan magazine... It seemed as if the manager had also been caught in the strange mood.

"Look I don't want no trouble... There might be a few gangers in apartment one-o-trhee. I know they squat there sometime... Not always. They come and go through the apartment next door. First came through the hole on the other side, then made a cosy way in. If you want to do anything about it, please I didn't told you nothing."
This time he was looking really frightened, talking fast, like if he wanted to spill all before he could stop himself.

"Gott!" Leon mumbled as he rubbed his eyes, suddenly he felt light headed, walking through the misty battlefield. Where was this? Volksburg, there were dirt and snow everywhere. Then he saw the face of one of his soldiers staring up at him with his unseeing eyes. He blinked.. No.. it was just a deflated soccer ball. He could hear Diatorro's squealing out into the hall and decided to remain here. If he entered, he knew he might not be able to control his instinct to flog the man, instead he headed to the next apartment and knocked on the door. "Luna Polizie. Open up!"

Hearing the mention the possibility of gangers in the building, Smythe shifted his full attention back to Diatorro "So you were going to let us just walk into an ambush? let us knock on the door and catch a burst in the chest?"

Smythe asked "How many? How are they armed?

If they were facing a possible hostage situation with armed and likely wired gangers it might be time to armor up if they were going to be engaged in close quarters.

Diatorro seemed slightly panicked now. "I don't know ! They're a bunch of kids wearing colours, maybe a couple blades or pistol. You know, for protection." He checked his fingers... "They come and go. There might be nobody, they might be a ten. They never pass the door and I don't ask for ID when someone don't enter through the door. I thing there are a few in right now..."

And the first shot was fired.

In the corridor, The answer to Leon knock took some time. "Wuzat ?!" "A cop !" "You see ! You see ! We need out !" "I'll get him !" "Yeah ! Kill the pig, man !"
Leon moved a bit but it was not really needed as the first shot rang through the door knob. Then a ganger slammed it open. It was a kid, really, but he held his knife like he knew which end got into a hand and which end got into people. "He's 'lone ! Die !"

Simon listened to Diatorro. As the the man sputtered away Smythe could tell he was holding back. Just as Smythe was about to follow up, the sound of the gunshot changed his plans.

Hearing the group of 'troubled youths' on the other side of the door, Leon quickly drew his heavy saber. However, as the young man came out he frowned, spotting the knife he merely gave the man a menacing snarl. "Drop ze knife and stay were you are!" He thrust the tip of the curved blade at the lad's throat but wanted to stop within a centimetre of the Adam's apple. "Move and I will turn your comrade's shirt into a crimson fazhion statement!"

The ganger took a small step back in front of Leon threat but, as he saw his friend through the door, he nonetheless took a lunge at the suited up Bauhauser. At the same time, another ganger showed up and began to threaten Simon.

The remaining gangers, at least those who had guns, opened up from inside the apartment, tearing through the wall like if it was a wet paper towel. The bullets brilliantly failed to arm the cops but didn't miss Leon's opponent. His neck started spurting blood from both side and he fell to the ground like a marionette without a handler.

Leon effortlessly manoeuvred the gangster's blade out of the way with a simple fencer's parry. Child's play really. He was just about to retaliate when the other criminals, further inside of the apartment opened fire upon him. He was unscathed, he didn't even get blood on his suit, despite the fountain of blood gushing from the young man's neck. "Inkompetent!"

Leon firmly grabbed the lad by the hair on his head and held him up, keeping the blood spurting away from him as he took the lead into the apartment. Moving toward the closest thug he stabbed his blade at the man's right shoulder, hoping to force the boy to drop his weapon. "Kriminal schwein! Inside the apartment, half a dozen gangers looked at Leon in astonishment. None of them really understood that their friend were dead.
There were two men on each side of the door. Leon stabbed the bald one on his right and kicked the tattooed hipster on his left in the knees. The first ganger fell in a gush of blood holding his shoulder and the second one took a step back, yelping.
