Re: OOC

Slightly edited post in the game thread.

I assume the DM is waiting on the group (minus myself) to decide what they are going to do
Keep waiting at the gate
Break in
Return to town
Investigate the note

Still editing.... will unlikely ever be satisfied...just can’t leave anything alone...
I smell a whiff of corruption

Might try to hit justicar at 8th level
Tutelage of Kaple for three ranks in profession barrister
The persuasive feat next (6th)
That will push a feat back a bit for me and keep me away from barroom brawler
DM will have to decide (secular or temple) authority

True story also if your on the run (evasion/escape) avoid kids!!!!

I wonder how (the guy at the courthouse knows we came calling?)
No one left (that was seen anyway)

Re: OOC

You could pick up a level in Justicar as early as lvl 6, you just need to be lvl 5 first so that you can pick up the 5 ranks in Knowledge: Local. The feats and other skills you can pick up along the way, or use the retraining rules to swap things around.

I am very interested in searching the master of chymical works possessions
I can do it later I suppose...

The best way to take out a shapeshifting alchemist
Up close and personal in front of a crowd

Also if you read the spoiler text in the post above
I expected he killed his compatriot and manufactured the evidence he claimed to the court; after leaving his lair this morning
Typical....Meticulous evil doer

Is anyone else pre-editing their posts using the scratchpad feature on rpol?

I got way too ahead of myself and have pre-rolled for smiting evil....

Re: OOC

It's probably best to keep editing posts down to a minimum, but as long as you make any changes that you want before I put up a GM post, I try to get that done around noon-ish, you can change your posts as much as you'd like.

I've broken Shade and whoever's staying to stake out the chemical factory into their own thread.

Ah well better luck next time.
On the bright side I still believe Solomon will be cleared of crime number 1.

Although the judge is on my radar now
Acting like none of it was plausible
Could be a super rules stickler though

Still want to go in treasure wise with a spellcaster on a ring of transposition
10,800 on the market or 5,400 crafted
Half in from each of us for the price

Could be worth Vadim and the other caster going in also for one of their own

Better in many ways than the ring of friend shield
50 k for a pair

Re: OOC

Hmm, I'm debating if it's wise or profitable (in terms of this investigation... and otherwise) to get myself into the Chymic Works before they can dissolve more of the evidence, which I'm pretty sure they're doing/have done. Thing is I'm a tad low on spells, though I have some hexes I could bring into play if I'm clever about it.

We're running a bit on 'nebulous time' rather than strict time to facilitate people moving through threads, but the deposition is coming up very soon. Who is planning to attend? If you want to continue your stakeouts or investigations you can, Kaple can present the evidence on his own.

Since the next leg goes into ghostly children I am still hoping a few others have some funds to go in on things to deal with ghosts and sanctify corpse.

Do we get paid to participate (testify) in the trial today?

Next “big” purchase I think is boots of the cat
Not only fun to say, great for teasing feline familiars

Although some may argue that what I really need is a;
Phylactery of Faithfulness!!!!

Re: OOC

I don't even know if it's going to be possible to sleep at this point, with the days of the trial so close together. We may need to ask for a delay to sleep, or just sleep during the early morning so we can investigate in the afternoon and evening. Shade's going to have diminishing returns on her effectiveness and in particular her defense without being able to renew her spells.

Re: OOC

Nope I am going to use this spell (it’s my only spell slot, but really good option) on two members of the party (or on myself and one other person)
The rest can get normal sleep
Plus sleeping in the carriage should be ok

Keep Watch

School enchantment; Level inquisitor 1, magus 1, paladin 1, ranger 1, sorcerer/wizard 1

CASTING

Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S
EFFECT

Range touch
Target one creature touched/2 levels
Duration 8 hours or less; see text
Saving Throw Will negates (harmless); Spell Resistance yes (harmless)

DESCRIPTION

This spell enables the subjects to stand watch or keep vigil throughout the night without any ill effects.

The subjects suffer no fatigue and gain all the usual benefits of a full night’s rest.

The subjects gain hit points as though from resting, wizards may prepare their spells as though they had slept for 8 hours, and so on. Effects that rely on actual sleep or dreaming are ineffective, though the subjects are still susceptible to effects that would put them to sleep, such as sleep or deep slumber. Any vigorous activity, including fighting, immediately ends the effect, and the affected creatures must either have the spell cast on them again or sleep for the remaining hours to avoid fatigue and gain the benefits of a full night’s rest.

Re: OOC

I'm not a big fan of Phylactery of Faithfulness because I'm not a big fan of the "Ha! Gotcha! Paladin powers revoked!" school of thought. I feel like that sort of change should be a character decision, and a dramatic one. You need to do something that contravenes your code and must chose between necessity and your vows! Flubbing something and then getting punished just feels cheap. If you're doing something that's likely to rob you of your paladin status I'll discuss it with you before it happens, you can sort of assume that you automatically have narrative protection similar to a phylactery.

Shade, it seems that short of trickery or force Grine isn't going to let you inside the factory. You could break in or sneak in, or cast a spell on him, but he isn't going to open the door for you.

I also don't want you to feel like you're pinned down at a stakeout because watching is too valuable, but your character is sort of stranded with nothing to do while you're keeping an eye on the factory. I just don't want a situation where there's investigative stuff going down in one thread (possibly taking lots of IRL time) while only boring stuff is happening in threads run concurrently. Mostly I feel bad that Darcon was cut out for so long because he opted to sleep that night and I don't want a repeat of that situation.

Currently Olver the precocious urchin is on his way to you in that thread to let you know that he delivered your message, and you an assume that he's willing and competent to keep watch there if you want to join the others at the pawn shop and, afterwords, at the deposition.

If you DO want to stay and keep watch and you're okay staying in that thread that's fine too.

Also note that Kendra is available for that sort of independent task, and (minor spoiler alert) you are very very close to leveling up. If I'm reading right Nook gets Speak with Master at lvl 5 so you can have actual conversations with him, not just read him via Empathic Link, so you could leave him to keep watch as well.

Re: OOC

Ok I distinctly dislike the item also...

I like the kid and glad his full title for the journal thread should be:
Olver the precocious urchin

Leveling sounds great!

Looking at divine bond for next level looks like there are some “new options”

Angelic bond looks like a good option I usually go with the weapon bond...

Spoiler text: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)
Angelic Bond: As a standard action, the paladin can call forth an angel spirit that bonds to her, causing her to manifest a resplendent halo. This bond allows the paladin to shine light as per continual flame for 1 minute per paladin level. Additionally, while the halo shines, all allies within 20 feet gain the benefits of protection from evil, except the deflection and resistance bonuses are +3. For every 3 levels she has beyond 5th, the deflection bonus and resistance bonus provided by this effect increases by 1, up to a maximum of +8 at 20th level. The paladin can use this ability once per day at 5th level, and one additional time per day for every 4 levels beyond 5th, up to a total of four times per day at 17th level.

Any thoughts?

Re: OOC

Shade has lived on the edge for a lot of her life. Also, Olver and anyone Olver talks to for likely the next several years will know that Shade is a good employer/good person. Too, Olver will have the money to pay apprentice fees, guild fees, assist with rent if he has family, and generally be able to lift himself out of most poverty-related problems.  He'll be able to get a respectable job and solid reputation. And it's thanks to Shade. This is not entirely self-interest on Shade's part, but there's a nice balance between wanting to make things better and also having someone around who will be loyal and true to her.
