Re: OOC

Then he'll owe favors to pay us back! It's a win-win!  :D  Also, giving the DM friendly NPCs of importance to us who can later be in peril and thuly give us an emotional reason to go rescue them is a classic gaming trope that I am proud to pay into!  ;)

Re: OOC

Also, Shade uses the "good lifestyle" in the upkeep rules, but she lives more frugally than the 100gp per month (living at a boarding house instead of owning a home or apartment, simple tastes in food and clothes, etc). About half of her "lifestyle" funds go to charity and assisting others in her neighborhood/in need, so this is pretty normal for her.

What?  SCG might have something in common with shade
Maybe you can one day get an angel cat familiar

So much to go over this evening!!!

The deposition is just about to start, we'll move there in the next GM post unless anyone has other questions for Bertille. If you'd like to skip the deposition that's fine too, we'll break other investigations out into their own thread.

Re: OOC

You can fluff your post however you'd like. You don't have to write out a long legal argument or anything, just something along the lines of what you're presenting. You should also make a Diplomacy check or Knowledge: Nobility check for each piece of evidence that you're presenting.

Re: OOC

Shade had precisely and exactly no ranks in either of those, and it'd be unlikely she'd get up  on the stand, at least at this time.  We've got a boatload of speculation, but we don't have a warm body to confirm anything (no direct suspect in custody), so right now just presenting the hard facts we have is going to be our best bet.  Constantine is supposed to be better at that.  Or Darcon.  Or Jonah.  One of those eloquent fellows.  (Though it seems we've lost Jonah, Garland, and Vadim hasn't posted in three weeks...)

Re: OOC

I feel like Garland and Jonah are gone for good, but I've occasionally gotten PMs from Vadim indicating that he's still interested in playing but currently dealing with some personal business.

This break in the investigation is actually a pretty good spot to bring in some new investigators. I'll put up a plug and see if we can get some new players. That will bring our active players up to 5 and our potential players up to 6 if Vadim's still around.

Re: OOC

Rather than sitting tight for a weeks worth of back-and-forth posts in a boring courtroom scene I rolled a bunch of diplomacy checks on your behalf. Let me know if there's anything else you would have liked to add and we'll slot it in there.

Re: OOC

The shovel, tent, the bloody smock obviously all undersized
The sharp cutting tools knives and the wounds around the camine eyes
The lack of any physical evidence linking the 10 foot tall guy to the town of Morast, the boneyard or the murders

I feel more persuasive already!  And more knowledgeable of the local area and like a solicitor or barrister

Just to make sure the angelic divine bond is an option instead of weapon or mount?

Everyone trusts a half orc who can produce his own halo.

The lack of downtime makes it hard to really know what Shade can do...

Oh, I'm very surprising...  ;)

Shade was inspired by their jaunt into the wilderness, so she's gathered a new way to find out information.  A few of them in fact!

Oh no! The feral speech hex!!!!

You find em and bait em and soften em up and I’ll fillet em

Actually I love the flight hex at 5th level and swamps grasp battlefield control!!!

Re: OOC

Which would be fun, but since we're doing a lot of investigating, I'm splitting Shade's hexes, spells, and abilities between info-gathering and defense (usually via offence).  Now I can interrogate the rats or dogs or pigeons in a building, and I have spells where I can watch through someone else's eyes.  And others that will bring the pain, because she refuses to get eaten by a swamp monster again.

Re: OOC

Yeah I know the feeling....so many hexes to choose from

The angelic bond I chose is less effective than the weapon/mount because of things that are not evil.
The weapon/mount would have helped against anything

Protection from evil is limited, but it scales and includes all allies, blocks mental controls, etc making it more like a mythic communal protection from evil.  Plus something I thought fits the justicar better as well.

My main limitation in entry is skill points!

Man, recruitment is always so tough. There's a zillion great character concepts and it's so hard to limit myself to accepting just two.

At any rate, welcome Calin the diviner sorcerer and Kael the arcane rogue to the party!

Kael may have some spicy interactions with Constantine, the local paladin. Calin and Shade, you two should coordinate to make sure that you aren't overlapping in your magical niche.

Maybe so but my redeemer archetype keeps me from detecting evil and gives much more leeway in being around unsavory characters
For example execution of a prisoner (I might think it’s my job or the crime does not warrant that punishment)...

Wonder if I will get to split “face” duties with one of the newer additions
Not sure what an arcane rogue is...

As far as not telling my character stuff that is fine as Shade plays her cards close to the vest also
(Probably because that’s were her stash of cards is hidden). ; )
