Re: OOC

Shade is worse for wear, but I don't think we're going to get the answers we need for the trial tomorrow if we can't 100% confirm that the wraith did all the child-killing. And I don't think we have the time to argue for a continuance. If we can somehow manage to kill the wraiths before sunset, Shade can still go fall down into bed somewhere and twitch quietly for the rest of the night before we have the present evidence.

So I say, let us go for it. If worse comes to worse, I've got a cure moderate wounds hex with the wraith's name on it.

Re: OOC

Because speak with dead is on Shade's spell list she can confirm Adrin's notion about it. It can't be cast on a corpse that has become undead. In this case you will have to put Ellsa's wandering spirit to rest before you can commune with her using speak with dead.

Re: OOC

Ok then, we better get ready. Does anyone have Mage Armor ready for casting? I planned to grab a couple of scrolls to cover for Cain and Constantine, but maybe we should consider buying enough for everyone.

I also have two Holy weapon balms to share, it's somewhat effective on melee weapons, but it really shines when used on ammo, so if someone wants them, just say so.

Also also, did we get that holy water from the church with the wraiths?

Re: OOC

Just FYI, I currently have available for spells: charm person, bungle, peacebond, lipstitch, daze, detect magic, detect poison, and mending.

Which are all singularly not effective against undead.  So I would rather much like the mage armor, as it will make me less likely to get hit with their touch.

My hexes are Speak to the City, Scar, Evil Eye, Healing, and Feral Speech.

Only Healing will work against them, as Evil Eye is mind-affecting, which undead are immune to. So I'm going to have to get close to hurt these guys. I'd like to hide behind a warrior and pop out and go, "Ha, got your nose!" with positive energy.  Or if I can talk to a friendly rat or something with Feral Speech maybe we can find a loose bit of rock to make another window and get some more daylight into the church.

Re: OOC

Ok, I will sell off some extra gear that is about as useful as a rubber hammer at this point to get more Mage Armor scrolls.

Shade, how's you ranged combat effectiveness? Did you pick up Precise Shoot by any chance? A crossbow + Holy weapon balm (you can have the two Cain is carrying) could do respectable damage to wraiths.

Re: OOC

Cain, your shopping trip is just fine and duly noted, you'll be able to retrieve your gear at cost when you're flush with cash.

Digging is an endurance test, in this case you can't twist away from muscle fatigue and lower back pain. Bengay breaths a sigh of relief.

I have bolts that I can fire with Telekinetic volley, so I'll take the balm if it's good on Ammo!

Re: OOC

It's actually best when used on ammo. I only have two though, and I am kind of broke now.

Wait, does Constantine even have a magical weapon? If not, we'll need scrolls for that as well. Hmm, maybe I can convince the DM to let me pawn some more stuff?

In reply to Cain (msg # 629):

I mean I have 50 crossbow bolts that it can be put on and I can fire those using a spell rather than a crossbow. It's kind of what Adrin does for combat mostly, fling things telekinetically.

Shade's combat effectiveness, period, is terrible.  I'm at a +3 on ranged and a +2 on melee with no Strength bonus.  I'm geared towards dealing with living people and occasionally live monsters. But if I can land one good healing spell on these twerps, they will regret unlife.  I'm mostly going to have to dodge, hide, and pick my readied actions with care, but I will also be able to heal people, as long as they stand between me and the wraiths.

Re: OOC

Maybe Shade should be our official holy water tosser!

Given the splash rules it is pretty easy to be effective and holy water works on incorporeal undead

Re: OOC

Unfortunately, it may not be that simple. They are incorporeal after all, so you can't hit them with a bottle. You would need to be adjacent to one and pour the holy water on it.

Yes it is in the description of holy water
Holy water
...  but to use it against an incorporeal creature, you must open the flask and pour the holy water out onto the target.
Thus, you can douse an incorporeal creature with holy water only if you are adjacent to it.
Doing so is a ranged touch attack that does not provoke attacks of opportunity....

So can be done effectively

Re: OOC

Sorry Adrin, can you hold on to the coin, or drop it (maybe down the trap door?) or give it to someone else? If Cain takes it that's one less action he can make next round, and the timer on his Shield spell is running down quickly. I was planning to move down next round, unless we get attacked up here first.

Actually, never mind.

Re: OOC

They would be damaged as if hit by a successful 'pour it on them' touch attack.

Cain, you were right, that should have been a fortitude save which you would have been able to Twist Away from. I'll be sure to remember that going forward.
