Pregame OOC thread
Say hi to the other players.

Discuss party makeup and mutual backstory elements while we wait for enough players to join (4-6).

Decide on the name of the adventuring party. Remember that your characters know each other and have worked and fought side by side.

Contributions here will be worth a small amount of xp :)

First in the pool! I'll be your party monk, though I might be more Drunken Master depending on how things go :-)

Rodion is a warrior who uses arcane power to enhance his combat abilities (although at the moment that power is rather limited).

Hello everyone!  I was planning on being a monk as well, though multiclassing with either Cleric or Favored Soul and going with Sacred Fist, so should play out much differently than Greyband.

Yes, very differently :-) Sounds like we're short on ranged stuff so far.

Yeah, I was actually briefly thinking about playing a ranger, since I was in another RHoD game with a ranger a year or so back that folded after a few encounters that I was really enjoying.  If we really need a ranged attacker more than an off-healer/monk type, I'd be happy to play a different character.  For that matter, I'd be happy to fill just about any role.

Greeting everyone. I'll be your smith.

That may not sound like much, but trust me, I am a force multiplier. And if ranged support is what we are lacking at the moment, I could always use ranged weapons instead of wading into melee. Maybe craft a Lantan musket or something. I was also thinking of being your driver in some fashion, if only to make carrying loot somewhat easier.

Either way, its nice to meet you all! :)

War of the Lance, page 21.

Its basically a PC version of the Expert NPC Class. Not very strong, but I can Craft like nobody's business.

So what do we think?  Are we good with all 4 of us potentially playing melee characters or having three melee and 1 ranged with Thoadin?

Thoadin, can you craft everything?  Monks aren't much for traditional weapons, though there's a lot of magical items that help them like Monk's Belt, Bracers of Armor, Amulet of Mighty Fists, etc.

I am focusing on range at the moment. My crafting skills have been somewhat diminished, as after talking to the DM, my crafting choices were not really thematically appropriate. Now I am a mundane, if still very skilled, smith. I can still make a lot of cool things though, don't you worry.

I haven't gotten my sheet approved yet, but I still plan on having my sexy land vehicle. If you lot need help carrying any spare gear, I have a 1,000 lb cargo limit. Assuming the DM approves of course.

Nice. I do have a horse, so that's not too much of an issue, but that will come in really handy for carting loot.

We have 5 players now and will leave it at that for the moment. Waiting on a character sheet from Charnath Yorn and some editing on the others.

Still need to finalise a party name and as much history/prior adventures as you want.

Some details that would be good in the meantime.
Party name?
When/why you joined the party or were you a founding member? Adventuring can be a job as much as a calling in faerun.
A couple of past adventures? Keep it short.

A couple of the suggestions from the rtj's (paraphrased).
Names:
 - The Ramblers, the Hand of Faith, the Fere Might, the Free Company, the Wandering, the Oathbound, the Guild of Blades, the Assembled, the Roadborn, Band of Honor.
Adventures:
 - Sometimes adventures don't go as planned. One of your earliest outings nearly saw you trapped and eaten by [] until...
 - When putting into port at the city of Delzimmer, the party was inadvertently drawn into a dockside gang war. After seeing the horrible conditions that the various gangs were forcing the common people to suffer under, they went to war on behalf of the people and managed to break the stranglehold that those fiends had on the locals.
 - It's always amazing how one thing leads to another. At first, helping the villagers of Amtar Fend Off a score of demonic-backed mercenaries seemed to be a simple job, but complications led to it being a longer war than expected. After defeating the head of the demonic cult backing the mercenaries, the 'party name here' found links to a larger conspiracy amongst several cultists of dark gods, which led them to the Dead Sun Cultists outside of Kholtar.

The last one leads nicely into the introduction i posted in the Notice thread.

I'll edit that thread to add whatever you come up with here.

I admit to being partial to the Fere Might myself. I like archaic words.

I see Thoadin as being a founding member. With a high level of intelligence, and a kickass War Wagon to transport loot and companions, I can see him intentionally seeking for like minded folk to travel with.

With a kickass war wagon to transport loot and companions i can see people lining up for that job interview - insert the recruiting scene from mystery men.

I'm happy enough with the Fere Might, partly because we seem to have a number of melee combatants (who are presumable quite strong) and partly because might can also imply might not (eg they may not always accept commissions).
Rodion probably would've joined the group around 4th level as before that he was running missions for the church of Corellon.

Fere might sounds good to me. I'll work on making up the character sheet. I waiting to make sure the character concept worked with the group first.

Fere Might is great. Greyband has been a professional wanderer for years and joined the group about a year ago. Thoadin, how long have you been adventuring?

Three years "properly" adventuring. If you include all his salvaging and educational travels, close to a decade.

Halfling rangers are great :) I hope you've mixed it with some scout and the Swift Hunter feat ;) (or intend to)
