Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

Seline being able to notice the dials and levers would randomly spin a few dials, flip a lever or two and then begin attempting to smash and break them.

Seeing the blinding glow emanating from the portal and the expectant looks on the worker's faces has Cole darting toward Dreya's side protectively. Should any nasty creature manage to make its way forth from the portal, Cole would be ready for it.

In reply to Seline (msg # 520):

Keep in mind green electricity is crackling around the rim of the portal.  Smashing or manipulating the dials and levers on the portal rim would put Seline at risk of being zapped.

In reply to Castle Keeper (msg # 522):

Having seen the workings working on the portal Seline would still attempt it even with the electricity crackling around it. However if there is a roll to save Seline from any damage I will add all 5 of my luck points to it if allowed.

"Seline, if you think we should smash the controls, I might be able to do it at a safe distance."

Elwood casts Spiritual Weapon, in the form of a mace near the control panel.  He won't smash the panel until Seline is a safe distance away.  Otherwise,  he'll use it to attack anything that might come out of the portal or attack Seline.

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

One of the portal workers responds to Stachys's question by shrugging its shoulders and saying, "No speak Common."

Elwood casts spiritual weapon and hammers away at the portal's controls.  The green electricity triples in intensity and the portal workers begin to freak out.  They run around in circles, hands to their helmets, and shout in clearly-understood Common, "Oh, gods, oh gods, oh gods, what have they done?!"

Water begins to gush out of the portal like a fire hose (with a 5-10 foot diameter spray).  Seline, Cole and Valindore manage to say on their feet, but Stachys and Dreya are knocked down and swept down the corridor like a rocket-propelled kid on a slip and slide.

Just about the time Stachys and Dreya drift to a stop, several sharks fly out of the portal followed by an even bigger shark ridden by a magnificent example of masculine fishmanity.  In the brief look you get as he shoots down the corridor, you note he is wearing ornate scale armor, has a golden crown on his head (inside his fish bowl helmet), and wields a gleaming trident.  Cole manages to dive out of the way of the shark stampede, but Valindore gets knocked to the ground for 3 points of damageElwood is too focused on his spell to dodge the sharks and also gets knocked down for 4 points of damage.  The sharks and the uber-fishman reach Anthony before they or you have a chance to react to each other's presence (they pass over Dreya and Stachys in the process).

The torrent of water coming from the portal is slowly causing the water level in the portal chamber and corridor outside to rise.

Round 5 Situation Report:

Dreya has taken 1 point of damage
Cole has taken 3 points of damage
Valindore has taken 3 points of damage
Elwood has taken 4 points of damage
Spearfish #1 and Portal Technician #1 are asleep (this is round 4 for the color spray effects).

Cast invisibility and try to move past the enemies.

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

The lead shark (Shark #1) chomps down where Anthony's face should be, but the wizard disappears before the poor beast can get a fair chance at feeding.  No harm, no foul.

The other sharks spin around to head back east (toward the portal and the rest of the party).

Valindore clamps his hand on Elwood's shoulder and channels his god's power to heal Elwood of 4 points of damage.

Elwood shouts, "VOMIT!" while staring at the spectacular fishman riding the larger shark.  The fishman's face becomes a little greener and his cheeks puff out suddenly, but he manages not to chunder in his helmet.

Stachys hurls a spear toward shark 3, but the mist obstructs his vision enough to cause him to miss.  His invisibility to animals terminates now that he has made an attack.

Dreya tries to see what the fishmen are up to.  She cannot see Gloop-Loop anywhere and she can't see into the portal room anymore due to the heavy mist and the torrent of water spraying into the corridor from the portal.  In fact, she notes the flow of water seems to be increasing.

Cole charges up to interpose himself between Dreya and the sharks, but he cannot get an attack in before end of round.

Seline easily dispatches the sleeping spearfish #1.  As she stands up from her kill, he sees the green electricity snapping around the portal's rim flare up accompanied by a loud clang.  The flow of water spraying out of the portal increases alarmingly.

Round 6 Situation Report:

Dreya has taken 1 point of damage
Cole has taken 3 points of damage
Valindore has taken 3 points of damage
Elwood is all healed up
Spearfish #1 is now deceased.
Portal Technician #1 is asleep (this is round 5 for the color spray effects).

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

Shark #1 snaps furiously where he thinks Anthony should be, but bites nothing but misty air.

Shark #3 chomps at Dreya, but the druid easily dodges the attack.

The big shark (ridden by the Prince of Fish) attacks Cole, but only manages to distract the ranger enough to let his rider stab Cole with his trident for 10 points of damage.  The exquisite fishman shouts, "You dare attack me?  Die, air breathers!!!"

Shark #2 is penned in and cannot advance on the party.  Shark #3 and the big shark with the rider are blocking the corridor.

Stachys thrusts a spear past Dreya, but is unable to connect with Shark #2.

Anthony would like to hid behind Cole, but there is no room to get past the sharks to the rest of the party.  He's stuck on his own for the moment.  He could try to hide behind the secret door if he would like.

Cole swings at the large shark, but misses.  Perhaps being stuck with a vicious trident threw off his aim?

Round 7 Situation Report:

Dreya has taken 1 point of damage.
Cole has taken 13 points of damage.
Valindore has taken 3 points of damage.
Portal Technician #1 is asleep (this is round 6 for the color spray effects).
Anthony is invisible.
This is round 3 of Elwood's spiritual weapon.
