Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

[OOC - I literally have no clue what to do. Dreya feels so useless right now. lol. So, I guess...]

With a startled shriek, Dreya throws her hands up toward the shark that just tried to bite her, and shouts,"I just want to be your friend!"

Dreya tosses Animal Friendship at the shark.

In reply to Dreya (msg # 545):

Animal Friendship takes 1 minute to cast (6 combat rounds) and requires an offering of food.  Are you sure you want to try this spell?  Calm animals or (if you have a second level spell left) charm animal would seem appropriate under the circumstances.

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

Dreya's hopefully new best friend chomps at her, but its bite is off.  Cole isn't so lucky as the big shark latches on to his shoulder and tears for 6 points of damage.  The shark does not let go and keeps shaking the poor ranger around like a rag doll.

Tetra Min hurls his trident at Stachys, but misses badly.  His aim is probably off because of all the trashing of his shark as it shakes its head and tears into Cole.  The fishman hauls the trident back using a chain connected to the end.

Elwood lashes out against the big shark with his spiritual weapon, but the dense fog keeps him from getting in a clear shot.

Anthony opens the secret door, dives inside, and slams the door shut.  He finds Gloop Loop staring at him with panicked eyes.  The fishman says, "Tetra Min didn't see you come in here, did he?  We're doomed if he did!"  Except, of course he doesn't do that.  Anthony is invisible!  Instead, Gloop Loop sees the secret door open and close as if by magic.  The fishman screams and runs off into the darkness to the north.

Valindore tries to hand a potion bottle to Cole, but the ranger just isn't coordinated enough to take it while holding objects in both of his hands and being tossed around by the big shark.

Stachys tries to stab a shark by reaching around Dreya, but barely manages not to skewer the druid.

Seline grabs a portal worker and demands answers.  The portal worker is panicking and paying more attention to the portal than Seline.  He shouts, "Oh, damn!  Oh, damn!  Oh, damn!  The fools broke it!  This world will drown!"

Dreya speaks calming words and makes soothing gestures.  All of the sharks fail their saving throws and immediately become docile.  The big one meekly opens its jaws and releases Cole.

I'm going to assume Cole is going to change his attack to go after Tetra Min under the circumstances.  Please let me know if that is unacceptable and I will reroll the attack.

Cole swings at Tetra Min, but misses.

The water on the floor is now 2-3 inches deep as water continues to spew out of the portal.

Round 8 Situation Report:

Dreya has taken 1 point of damage.
Cole has taken 19 points of damage and is being tossed around by a chewing shark.
Valindore has taken 3 points of damage.
Portal Technician #1 is asleep (this is round 7 for the color spray effects).
Anthony is invisible.
This was the final round (round 4) of Elwood's spiritual weapon.

A curse shot from Cole as he tried to bite back the pain of the attack.  Sweat beading his brow and looking worse for the ware, Cole steadies his unsteady feet before delivering another attack to Tetra-Min.  There wasn't much left in him, but by the gods, he would go down fighting!

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

[OOC - sorry for the delay!]

Her panicked gaze flits from the water-spewing portal to those of her friends bravely facing off with an angry shark-riding sea warrior.  Then, she sees the swirls of red winding like insidious tendrils from around Sir Hiller as his lifes blood seeps steadily into the rising waters.

No! Not him! Dredging up every ounce of natural magic within her, Dreya calls forth her cure light wounds, willing it into something more, something that would heal more than a mere flesh wound, perhaps heal all of the ranger.

Dreya burns a hero point to heal Cole.

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

Valindore slaps his hand on Cole and cures light wounds to heal 7 points of damage.

Out of nowhere, Stachys jumps at Tetra Min and grabs the fishman's trident.  Even more surprisingly, he rips the trident out of Tetra Min's grip with a tremendous jerk.

Seline punches the portal worker for 1 point of damage and threatens the lowly fishman.  This indignity seems to inspire some bravery and self-respect in the portal worker, who responds by punching back, but whiffs badly.  He does manage to get in the dig, "Piss off, land breather."

Anthony yells after the fleeing Gloop Loop who stops in his tracks and turns around to face the invisible wizard.  "You don't say?  Well, I'll be damned.  That's a neat trick.  Do you ever use it to, you know, spy on people?"

Elwood wiggles his fingers, chants some mystical gibberish, and chucks some giant spider silk at Tetra Min.  The fish man starts to tense up, but then shakes the hold person off.  He glares back and forth between Stachys and Elwood.  Dude is seriously pissed.

Cole swings again at Tetra Min, but can't seem to catch a break.  Even distracted by trident thieves, spells, and an uncooperative flying shark, he still manages to avoid the blow easily.

Dreya heroically casts cure light wounds on Cole to heal another 8 points of damage.

Round 9 Situation Report:

Dreya has taken 1 point of damage.
Cole has taken 4 points of damage and is being tossed around by a chewing shark.
Valindore has taken 3 points of damage.
Portal Technician #1 is asleep (this is round 8 for the color spray effects).
Anthony is invisible.
This is round 1 of 24 for calm animals.

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

Cole slashes at Tetra Min, but just can't quite get it together.  (OOC: I'm assuming Cole is attacking the fish man.  Cole's stated action was to concentrate all his intention on Tetra Min, but to attack the "annoying shark."  The shark Tetra Min is riding is under the effects of a calm animals spell and is not really annoying anyone at the moment.)

The invisible Anthony asks Gloop Loop how to defeat Tetra Min.  The fishman replies, "You tell me, buddy.  Clear eyes, full hearts can't lose?  Tetra Min is a god amongst fishmen.  His trident is a weapon of legends.  He is used to salt water.  Maybe you could fill his helmet with fresh water?"

Dreya draws her bow, but can't fire this round.  Keeping her balance in the rushing water takes too much concentration.

Elwood yells at the portal workers with helpful suggestions.  The sleeping portal worker (#1) wakes up and takes a look around.  He stares at the horizontal geyser blasting from the portal and says, "Ohhhh, shiiiiit."  Portal Worker #2 is too busy fighting with Seline to hear Elwood's hints.  Not that it matters.  Seline summons her illusionary whips and strikes her opponent down for 3 points of damage.  That is more than his crazed fish body can take.  He drops to the floor and his body is whisked along to the west by the rushing water.

Portal Worker #3 tries to jump through the portal, but is immediately blasted to the west by the water pouring through the portal.

Normally, Valindore would not be able to squeeze in between the sharks to take a swing at Tetra Min.  However, the docile sharks calmly slip out of the way.  The cleric's blow bounces off the fish man's armor.

Stachys swings the trident like a bat into the corridor's wall.  The force of the blow reverberates up the monk's arms.  The trident doesn't seem to suffer any harm, but chips of stone spray from the wall.

Tetra Min grabs a massive flail off his saddle and swats Valindore with it for 10 points of damage.  The swing would be a thing of beauty if it weren't for the horrible bloody mess it makes of the cleric's face.  The fishman bellows at Stachys, "Return my trident, worm!"

An electrical snapping sound booms from the portal as the intensity of the colored lightning increases.  Water gushes out even faster.  You can see fish being carried through the portal by the shooting water.

Elwood is swept off his feet by the rushing water.  He shoots under the flying sharks and disappears into the dark to the west.  It's been quite a while since we have discussed light sources.  If I recall correctly, Elwood had a light spell on his shield at one point before the party rested in the secret room.  Does Elwood have a light source on him at the moment?

Cole is planted like a boulder and ignores the torrential flow of the water with total concentration on his enemy.  Dreya, Stachys, and Valindore also keep their footing.  Seline is standing off to the side of the portal and does not have to deal with the current, although water is slowly rising up over her feet.

Round 10 Situation Report:

Dreya has taken 1 point of damage.
Cole has taken 4 points of damage.
Valindore has taken 13 points of damage.
Anthony is invisible.
This is round 2 of 24 for calm animals.

Upon hearing his comrade's revelation, Cole changes his target to Tetra-Min's head, the knowledge that his aim these last few rounds hasn't exactly been true not escaping his thoughts.  However, he strikes out at the weirdly shaped head anyhow, praying to all the gods he might actually hit something for once.
