Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

Cole maintains his footing in the gushing water, but keeping his balance is impossible while swinging a sword.  He stays on his feet at the cost of missing this round.

Elwood, Stachys, and Dreya trudge upstream back to the action.

Anthony pulls Valindore through the secret door to safety and can administer first aid next round.

Tetra Min and Shark #2 gang up on Cole, but their attacks are thrown off as the ranger twists and staggers to keep his feet.

Seline examines the malfunctioning portal, but its extra-planar technology is beyond her ability to riddle out.

Round 13 Situation Report:

Dreya has taken 1 point of damage.
Cole has taken 4 points of damage.
Valindore has taken 17 points of damage.  He is at -3 hit points.
Stachys has taken 5 points of damage.
Tetra Min has taken 15 points of damage.
Anthony is invisible.
This is round 5 of 24 for calm animals.
Shark 2 is no longer docile.
This is round 3 of fresh water in Tetra Min's helmet.

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

Anthony does his best to apply first aid to Valindore to keep the fellow from dying. He was no chirurgeon, but he had read more than a few books on stanching bleeding and the like, and he applied all that knowledge as quickly as his sharp mind could manage...

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

Anthony quickly binds Valindore's wounds.  The cleric is holding steady at -3 hit points.

Edward, Stachys, and Dreya continue their march east.  They will be in position next round to attack the sharks from behind should they choose to do so.  At this location, they can keep their feet if they take no combat actions, but will need to make a strength check to maintain their balance if they attack.

I'm assuming Cole is attacking.  He thrusts his sword into Tetra Min's shoulder for 9 nasty points of damage.  The fishman screams in rage and pain.  He returns the favor, striking Cole with his flail for 6 points of damage.  Shark #2 takes advantage and chews on the ranger for another 4 points of damageCole's knees wobble with the pain and he finally succumbs to the current at his feet.  He is swept beneath the sharks and is about to pass Dreya at end of round.

Tetra Min continues to battle mightily despite his face turning slightly bluish due to exposure to fresh water.  The fishmen of his watery world will sing of his bravery and god-like endurance for generations to come.

Round 14 Situation Report:

Dreya has taken 1 point of damage.
Cole has taken 14 points of damage and is being swept down stream.
Valindore has taken 17 points of damage.  He is at -3 hit points.  His wounds have been bound, so he is no longer bleeding out.
Stachys has taken 5 points of damage.
Tetra Min has taken 24 points of damage.
Anthony is invisible.
This is round 6 of 24 for calm animals.
Shark 2 is no longer docile.
This is round 4 of fresh water in Tetra Min's helmet.

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

Tetra Min shouts, "Attack the air breathers, my sharks!" and spins his mount.  Unfortunately, the shark he is riding is not particularly interested in charging into combat and slowly drifts west toward the party.  Shark #2, however, spins and charges at Stachys.  It pulls back at the last instant when it notices Stachys is attempting to stab it with Tetra Min's trident.  Neither Shark #2 nor Stachys manage to injure the other.

Cole realizes he is only down 24 hit points (I'm assuming he was at full hit points at the start of the chapter) and stands up with assistance from Dreya and ElwoodAnthony is not close enough to drag Cole into the secret corridor.

Seline looks over the portal for its most vulnerable bits and introduces them to her dagger.  She is zapped by blue and green electricity for 5 points of damage.  It is hard to see what damage, if any, the dagger blow inflicted, but there is a loud boom and water begins pouring out of the portal even faster.  The perimeter of the portal is now completely encased in intense tendrils of electricity.  It would be impossible to touch the portal (either by hand or implement) without getting zapped.

The blasting water surges past the rest of the party near the secret door.  Dreya is swept away by the stream again.  Cole, Stachys, and Elwood manage to keep their feet.

Anthony can stay up by gripping the door frame.  He needs to decide whether to close the secret door again.  If he leaves it open any longer, the water flow will prevent it from closing.  I believe the door opens outward meaning Anthony may not be able to open the door again if he closes it.  Decisions, decisions...

Round 15 Situation Report:

Dreya has taken 1 point of damage.
Cole has taken 24 points of damage.
Valindore has taken 17 points of damage.  He is at -3 hit points.  His wounds have been bound, so he is no longer bleeding out.
Stachys has taken 5 points of damage.
Seline has taken 5 points of damage.
Tetra Min has taken 24 points of damage.
Anthony is invisible.
This is round 7 of 24 for calm animals.
Shark 2 is no longer docile.
This is round 5 of fresh water in Tetra Min's helmet.

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

Tetra Min unleashes his flail on Stachys's face for 7 points of damageShark #2 tries to help, but bites the inside of its own cheek.  Ow!

Anthony props Valindore up so he does not drown in the rising water.  Water pours through the doorway into the secret corridor.  Gloop Loop shrieks in alarm.

Elwood steps up and delivers a mighty whack to Tetra Min's gut for 9 points of damage.  The fishman gasps in pain and hunches over a little.

Dreya continues to surf her way to the west.  The party can no longer see her and she can no longer see the party.  She comes to an abrupt stop as she slams into a metal door for 1 point of damage.  The water is much deeper at this dead end to the corridor, coming up to the druid's waist as she stands up.  The strong current is pushing the water up the door and preventing it from backing up to the east.

Cole comes oh, so close, to slicing Tetra Min's scaly throat, but his blade comes up a hair's breadth short of the mark.

Stachys finally gets it together and viciously skewers Shark #2 on the trident.  It is a mighty, devastating blow, but the shark thrashes and spasms as though a small city's electrical output is shooting through it.  Its terrific quivering stops as suddenly as it began, leaving the shark obviously slain.  Sharks do not react well to the trident.

Seline is about to cast minor dark chaos, but realizes the spell would not have any effect on the portal.  That illusion is only effective against a mind that can perceive it.

Elwood, Cole, and Stachys all keep their footing in the rushing water.  Very heroically, although Cole and Elwood burn 2 luck points each to show off.

Tetra Min is definitely starting to look the worse for wear, but he is too much of a bad ass to let a little fresh water in his helmet slow him down.

Round 16 Situation Report:

Dreya has taken 2 point of damage.
Cole has taken 24 points of damage.
Valindore has taken 17 points of damage.  He is at -3 hit points.  His wounds have been bound, so he is no longer bleeding out.
Stachys has taken 12 points of damage.
Seline has taken 5 points of damage.
Tetra Min has taken 33 points of damage.
Anthony is invisible.
This is round 8 of 24 for calm animals.
Shark 2 is really, really dead.
This is round 6 of fresh water in Tetra Min's helmet.

Re: Chapter 6 - Back to the Temple of Pain

Tetra Min is still reeling from the blow to his stomach.  He swipes at Elwood pathetically (and uselessly) with his flail.

Stachys tries to stab Tetra Min's shark with the trident, but misses badly.  The shark is not amused and shakes free from the effects of Dreya's spell.

Dreya tries to open the metal door at the end of the hall, but her wee wood nymph arms are no match for the crushing pressure of the water.

Anthony waits in readiness to grab any part members who fall in the water.

Cole and Elwood both swing at the fish man, but their weapons smack together, foiling both attacks.

At long last, Tetra Min succumbs to the fresh water polluting his body.  His hands clap to the top of his helmet as he topples off his shark into the water.  His body begins to shoot west with the current.  Elwood slips in the stream and is pulled along beside Tetra Min.  However, he is snagged by the invisible Anthony and helped back up.  Cole and Stachys manage to keep their balance for another round.

Round 17 Situation Report:

Dreya has taken 2 point of damage.
Cole has taken 24 points of damage.
Valindore has taken 17 points of damage.  He is at -3 hit points.  His wounds have been bound, so he is no longer bleeding out.
Stachys has taken 12 points of damage.
Seline has taken 5 points of damage.
Tetra Min has taken 33 points of damage and is suffering from fresh water pollution.
Anthony is invisible.
This is round 9 of 24 for calm animals.
Tetra Min's shark is no longer calm.
This is round 7 of fresh water in Tetra Min's helmet.
